Okay I'm so sorry, I only just now saw this BUT

It started out as a total crackship, I think. Everyone loves a goofball x serious ship, and we see James being a goofball full of drama in the moment he is in.

I mean, the suit, the tie? Nobody else wears _yellow_, just him! And then Percival's candidate is Roxy, and Roxy never talks about home but is so determined to become Lancelot. We all kinda went "okay but what if they are related and Percival now takes her as a candidate because of James?"

Of course, Percival has no lines, but there are a couple of things - he stands with that ... slightly annoyed face, stands so straight, some of the general facial expressions. Genuinely I think that people wanted someone to ship with James, and Percival is just so fitting?

And because there is so little info, it took on its whole own thing. There was this slightly odd Kingsman Mobile Game a couple years ago, and Percival was actually a playable character! I got to him but didn't have him for very long (the game kinda disappeared, I think?) but I do remember he was very sharp, clear-cut, from his movements and his fighting style.

I think that for me, it was the fanart that sold me, as well as some of the older fanfics - I am not sure if their username changed, but they had a Hogwarts AU and their Percival had the first name 'Martin'.

I think that it's a super fun ship because it's ... basically OCs at this point, but the fandom made it together? I miss the old times, when Golden Circle came out and the fandom was really really active.

I can link some fics if you'd like? I have quite a few on this blog, and soooo much fanart that I reblogged. I hope that helps? But feel free to ask if you have specific questions, they still live rent free in my head, and I do still occasionally write about them

Though Lovers Be Lost - Part 1

"Please James," Alistair sighed wearily, "Just pass it off to Merlin. Let him look into it."

"So he can send Harry, I don't think so." James scoffed, fixing his tie.

Rolling his eyes, Alistair pushed himself further up against the headboard and reached for his cigarettes, "You've seriously have to let go of this ridiculous rivalry." He grunted, lighting up. He inhaled deeply, allowing the thing to ease his rising stress. "Especially as it's all in your head."

"Of course it is, golden boy Hart doesn't need to compete with anyone." James muttered bitterly. "I seriously don't get what everyone sees in him."

"He's a brilliant agent."

James scoffed again, reaching for his waistcoat, "So brilliant he missed a grenade."

"That was twelve years ago, sweetheart. We've all fucked up at some point. "

"We don't all get to swan around like we own the place. "

Setting the cigarette in the ashtray, he flung off the covers and made his way over to his partner. Wrapping his arms around the man's skin waist, he set his jaw on James' shoulder, meeting his eyes in the mirror. "Stay. Please." He whispered softly. "Or at least wait for me to finish my debriefing with Chester and I'll come with you."

"I don't have time. If I'm right, Professor Arnold is in danger."

"I have a bad feeling about this. " he said sternly, holding his lover's gaze.

James smiled tightly and turned on the other man's hold, dragging his fingers through Alistair's sleep ruffled hair. "Go back to bed. I'll be home before you know it. I swear. " Leaning forward, he captured Alistair's mouth in a lazy kiss. "I love you." He said when they parted, and Alistair felt his stomach twist painfully.

"I love you too."
