The accounts are run by a person named Timothy Utterback, he's a conservationist who posts videos of his shrimp "dancing" (this is how they eat!) to rave music and uses the revenue to fund their maintenance. There's typically a couple of shrimp rave livestreams a week over on tiktok, so check it out!

It's Fossil Friday!
Here are some zooms into my "Deep Blue Buffet" painting (Part 1), commissioned by The Etches Collection. It features a bunch of species from the Late Jurassic Kimmeridge Clay: a dead sauropod, "The Sea Rex" (probably Pliosaurus), Hybodus, Hypsocormus, Metriorhynchus, Aspidorhynchus, and lots of Allothrissops.

Shout out to early 2000s prehistoric (mock) documentaries that continue to please my inner child even in my twenties. I dunno why, but i adore these shows more than any modern film.
Honestly, I'd be content to never watch any new film and just have access to these.
Childish? Maybe.
Do i care? Not in the slightest.
was visiting a friend who has a farm, and one of the chickens has a home made flared cone on, so i asked what was up with that and she said "that's diesel, and she's suicidal" so obviously i went ??? and she pressed the door lock on her truck fob so the truck beeped, and this dumbass bird SPRINTED full tilt across the garden to shove her head in the tailpipe. she has to be locked up and coned so she doesn't gulp down toxic fumes direct from the pipe for some idiot bird reason. she is obsessed with doing this and has to be locked up any time someone is using a vehicle.
i told her i posted about this and she has an update (which i guess content warning for animal harm [the animal did it to it's damn fool self])
she found this out the first time when she auto-started her truck to warm it up before work one below-freezing morning and came out ~5 minutes later to find (the then unnamed) diesel with her head stuffed in the tail pipe hanging limply by her idiot neck and thought that she was dead, ran over and pulled her out, and the chicken went "oh hi! anyways mind if i get back in there?" and did it a-fucking-gain??
best guess is bc she feeds her chickens with a pvc gravity pipe like this
and despite having ~40 other chickens who don't fuck this up, diesel went "food comes from tubes, this is tube, ∴ this is the ~secret~ food hole that the others do not know about. i will be rewarded with golden seed for being the cleverest of them all :)" and is now on 24/7 vehicle related suicide watch. fine line between docile and dumb sometimes.

I am fascinated by prehistoric animals. Especially fish. They were amongst the first creatures to ever evolve, pre-dating plants!
Devonian fish, especially, were amazing! As some had developed heavy armour and crushing plates instead of teeth. Surely you've heard of the famous fish Dunkleosteus! Their fossils are AWESOME!

Speaking as a beekeeper here:
Please do not put out sugar water for your local bees, or attempt to revive a tired bee with sugar water.
Beekeepers know what they're doing when it comes to supplementing their colonies with sugar water. The average non-beekeeper doesn't.
I don't know who started this idea but it's a terrible advice from people who aren't knowledgeable about bees.
It does more harm than good, especially if there are hives in the area.
A simple plain water station, keeping wild flowers, not using pesticides, and planting pollinator friendly plants go a long way to help the bee population.
Why is it bad?
A few reasons, namely sugar water doesn't have any real nutrients in it and it can spread diseases between hives since people aren't going to be changing the water frequently.
But i believe it also messes with their ability to forage effectively since they're learning that things that don't typically hold sustenance now suddenly have sustenance. If this happens enough times then they'll start looking for the poorer quality food over higher quality food since foraging is part instinctual and part learned
No real fun sources since this isn't widely studied or talked about since feeding bees sugar water is a huge fad rn but lots of the same issues bird feeders have (namely disease, nutrient deficiency (though bird feeding mixes are certainly better), attraction if unwanted critters, and dependency) . This is just an extension of: it's NEVER a good idea to feed wild animals.

Not fish related, but still important.
I will admit i would make tiny water/sugar drops for fallen bees if i found em struggling. But i now realise i did more harm than good. I'm distraught at the idea that I harmed any bees! Knowledge is power! Best i can do is learn from my mistakes and help educate! Save the bees!

These are Gold Barbs and some Rosy Barbs too I believe.
These were some newts my father and i rescued last year. They were moved from a building site and released into a conservation pond.
Certain species are protected and cannot be moved from their home. These were a common species and thus could, legally, be moved to a new location.

This beautiful lady here is a Bronze Whaler Shark. I was privileged enough to witness her whilst on a Conservation/Volunteer holiday in South Africa.
Sharks are very ancient fish, making up the Elasmobranch family are: Sharks, Rays, Skates and Chimaera as they are all Cartilaginous (I did have to look up these words; the dyslexia is strong in this one). Which means they don't have bones like us, but cartilage; the softer structures that we have in our nose and ears. Cartilage won't fossilise and so we have never found a shark skeleton. Only the teeth.
Sharks are an amazing fish group and i could honestly ramble about them forever (did you know they evolved before trees did?)! But i shall stop here cos otherwise i won't shut up.
Got a new Elephant Ear Betta for my Plec tank. Here he is, pictured with my Superred female. I only had plecs in the tank, so I had no mid-level swimmers. This little dude was brought into work recently, and i snatched him up! Had to claim him before anyone else tried. His name is Milo.
