In my heart of hearts this would be a fun thing to happen in my imaginary continuation of the series because of the implications of TUE.
Clockwork Basically Chose To Kill Dan’s Entire Family to serve as an example for other versions of Danny so he wouldn’t become an unfeeling corrupted killing machine in the future. Remember that according to TUE CW is the one that started the paradox. As long as Danny is able to keep his entire family and friends from being killed he probably turns out fine.
You could say it was out of care for Danny that he did that to Dan. But what person in their right mind, who is as wise as Clockwork, would go about it that way? Why wouldn’t he choose Vlad, who is the FIRST half-ghost and clearly the more corrupted one from the start?
Additionally, as the master of time, isn’t it strange and hypocritical how he gets on Danny’s back for messing with time in MOAT and paradoxes when he did exactly that in TUE?
“Clockwork, meddling again.” <— quote from Dan in TUE, implying that Dan found out that Clockwork was involved in his creation or has clashed with him on more than one occasion, with CW being the first aggressor in Dan’s eyes.
Defending CW for a second. Maybe everything he does is at the whim of the Observants. Maybe he’s controlled by them, idk. But because he controls time, that is still some massive power disparity.
The observants also look upon time “like a parade”, as if it’s a source of enjoyment for them, thus I expect they don’t want to experience world-ending events or they just want to keep their own existences safe and away from huge disastrous risks to the ghost zone. Despite them being eyeballs, they don’t seem to have much of an eye on Clockwork himself, because if they did, How Could You Not Be Concerned With How Clockwork Caused The Apocalypse Via Dan In The First Place.
I don’t think Clockwork’s necessarily a traditional big bad. He doesn’t feel like that kind of character, but I think he may be a villain in the sense that he’s motivated to manipulate and steer Danny towards some kind of destiny. And tbf considering Danny I seriously don’t think anyone deciding what he should be is something he wants.
I feel like Danny would find out about Clockwork doing this, or things similar to it. Maybe Clockwork is the true reason why he ends up becoming the Ghost King or something.
But seriously, even if someone’s future is disastrous, if it ends up being something Danny wouldn’t want…
What right does Clockwork have to steer that destiny?
