Philly Cheese Steak & Onion Rings @ MEATLiquor

So I went here after MCM Expo. As it was a Saturday Evening, the place was very busy. We had to wait a good 10-15 minutes to be seated.

After last time, I decided against ordering fries. I went to the onion rings for sides which were very huge. I also ordered the Philly Cheese Steak. I also went halves with my friend on Buffalo wings. As you can see, the servings are crazy. There was enough wings & onion rings to go around.

I found eating the Philly Cheese Steak a challenge in itself, as it was kinda messy & hard to keep together. But after the first bite, I couldn't care any less. The place is pretty dark anyways so you won't have to worry about people seeing you fully enjoy your food. Thats if care about that.

My friends highly recommend the Cheese Burger. I think I'll be trying that at my next visit.

Frank's Red Hot Wings @ Dominos

This picture does not do this justice. I ordered 21. I needed comfort food and I really enjoyed it. I think I prefer this more than the wings I had at Brick Lane.

Karaka Tan Tan Tonkotsu @ Umai, Westfield Stratford

Finished Uni. Celebratory Ramen. Service was pretty bad, I was standing in front of the till waiting to be served when it was hardly busy.

This was quite spicy. It did fill me up though. Noodles were great but personally I'm not a fan of minced meat (pork).

Cost £9.90.

Original Buffalo Wings @ The Orange Buffalo, Brick Lane

I went to Brick Lane after I finished my handing in my second last assignment today. I saw that The Orange Buffalo was open so I thought I'd check it out & treat myself. The last time I went during a weekday and it was closed which baffled me.

Proceeded to order the Original Wings which weren't too spicy. It came with blue cheese & celery which I didn't have, but the cheese was nice. As for the wings, the sauce had a nice flavour. It was a tad dry though and I didn't really like the actual wings itself. There wasn't a lot of meat on the bone but they were claimed to be free range.

I probably will come back again as its really close to my Uni. Maybe I will try the wings with a spicier sauce. But I've heard that MEATLiquor do great Buffalo wings so if not, I'll have a post about that up soon.

Buffalo Chicken Burger & Chili Cheese Fries @ MEATliquor, Central London

Today I finished editing 3 short films for Uni, so I figured that I deserved to treat myself. After all, writing+filming+editing 3 different short films is a lot of work. Ended up meeting my friend Thomas who wanted to go MEATLiquor. I have never been there before so I thought why not.

The location was well hidden, located next to a car park and on a side street just off Bond Street Station. The place itself was pretty dark but the overall feel was pretty cool. (The mens toilet door was titled 'dick'.)

Onto the food. I started tackling the fries which was covered with cheese & chilli as well as chilli con carne. This was supposedly a side dish but as I was nearly 1/3rd through it, I was beginning to feel full already. I ended up not even being able to finish my fries. Partially because the serving itself was huge but also I didn't really enjoy the chilli con carne.

But now the chicken burger itself. That was amazing. I don't think I've ever had a chicken burger like that ever before. It was special. Recently I have been craving Buffalo Wings, so when I saw this on the menu I couldn't help but order it. They did have wings on the menu but I said to myself that I'd get the wings another time. The buffalo sauce was authentic. At one point it did feel like I was eating wings as well, so technically I was killing two birds (chickens) with one stone. Excuse the pun.

I will come back again soon. The portions aren't for the feint hearted, or vegetarians. I also highly recommend sharing the fries. You will want to fully enjoy the main dish with as much room as you have. I also read on their website that they have several other restaurants/ventures. MEATMission in Hoxton & MEATMarket in Covent Gardens. I will try to check those out whenever I have a chance.

Tom Yam Soup, Won Ton & Gyoza @ Thai Cafe, Earlsfield

I had to get my tripod fixed & my camera serviced as I was having troubles with the sensor. The guy who was working on my camera told me to wait for an hour to see what he could regarding cleaning it. Strolling around in the middle of nowhere, I stumbled across a small thai cafe near. Having to wait for an hour, I ordered a lot. I was hungry as well because the first thing I did when I woke up was pack my equipment, I didn't have a chance to eat.

The soup, which contained chicken & mushrooms as well as peanuts, was really nice. Nice balance between spicy & sweet. The side orders weren't as great though. Won Ton was a a tad cold but the Gyoza was tasty. They serviced the two side dishes with a sweet sauce which did help. All together I paid £15, I even ordered extra Gyoza & a drink too.

Eel Don & Soft Shell Crap Roll @ Umai, Stratford

First thing I got when my student loan arrived. This. Spent £21 for what is technically two meals. I probably won't order the Eel Don again but I will definitely get the Soft Shell Crab Roll again. It was more filling then the Eel Don which was mostly rice.

And yes I know that I've been posting a lot of pictures of Asian food, especially Sushi (from Umai). But I do have some cool places on my list that I plan to check out soon.

Mixed Sushi @ Misato, Chinatown

So a few days ago I was busy filming for one of my short film assignments. We were running behind schedule so we decided we might as well all go out & eat. Ended up in Misato and I accidentally ordered this. Accidental you ask? Well I was actually craving the sashimi which I did order (I even pointed at the picture in the menu) but for some reason this ended up in front of me. I did enjoy it though, and it cost around £8.

Roast Duck & Crispy Pork @ Kam Tong, Bayswater

This is one of my favourite dishes ever. Juicy roast duck. Succulent pork belly. I need to have this at least once a month.

Chicken Soba Ramen @ Misato, Chinatown

For less than £6, you can't go wrong. The broth of the ramen was packed with a lot of flavour & the noodles was nice. The only downside was the mean but thats what you get when they fry the chicken. Nonetheless it did fill me up and its a nice alternative to just ordering a meal at KFC which is round the corner from where Misatos is located.

Korean BBQ @ Somewhere in Soho

(Bottom) Fried Calamari & Fried Oysters (Top) Korean BBQ (Pork, Chicken & Beef) 

I can't even remember the name of this place. But I distinctively remember this place for the side dishes. Now I don't know if that is really a bad or good thing. The fried oyster were very nice & the calamari was even better. The Korean BBQ was alright as well but the main off putting thing was the price. The BBQ on its own was £22 with the side dishes roughly costing £7 each. If I come here again, I'm going to make sure I bring a wealthy friend.

Pulled Pork Hotdog & Fried Macaroni @ The Diner, Neal Street

Forgive me for I forgot the actual names for these dishes. What I do remember is how awesome they were. Eating the hotdog was a challenge in itself as I was trying to balance the pulled pork which covered it. As for the side dish, I ordered one of the specials which was this Fried Macaroni on a stick. The way I pictured it in terms of how they made it, they must have compressed a bit of Macaroni Cheese then threw it in the fryer. The outside was nice & crunchy yet the macaroni inside was soft & still cheesy. I'd definitely order that side again if they still have the same specials menu.

Chef Breakfast Special @ Crossways Cafe, Nunhead

This is by all means NOT a small meal. Usually when I order this, I struggle to finish it. Underneath the fried egg & chips is some more hidden greasy goodness. But of course, nothing beats having a full english breakfast at home.

Sushi Bento Box @ Misato, Chinatown

Sushi in Central London in not cheap. Which is why there are only a few places I order sushi from with Misato being one of them. This meal costs less than £8. Bento boxes with this much in it will usually set you back double the price, and that is the normal price. My favourite part was the Eel and I actually remember eating all of it so quick I wanted to order more.
