I emerged from the autumn colored Adirondacks at the #shore of #LakeChamplain, and was surprised to see no fall color here on Sept. 26-27. But for the first time in 4 days, I saw specks of clear sky! After visiting the Finger Lakes, I drove through the #Adirondacks on Sept. 25-26 and was surprised how much fall color there was already! Unfortunately, it’s full beauty was obscured by solid dark grey clouds and rain creating a constant dusky level of sunlight for days. Only got a few good photos relative to what it could have been. This upstairs room in the #Amish #barn gift shop beckoned me. The wood looks old and handcrafted, even the doorstop, yet the new white chair suggests a wedding. There were a lot more white chairs around the corner, indicating you could have a wedding here, with a giant window overlooking Seneca Lake in the distance. There’s a lot of Amish & Mennonite businesses around the #FingerLakes in NY, and it’s a delight to see what they’re still making by hand. Everything from potholders to fudge. I’d never heard of a #cidery until I got to the #FingerLakes! There’s several here, and you can get tasting paddles with a wide variety of hard cider flavors, like with sumac or cranberries. Cider #donuts are also a thing at various places. I caught a farm making them fresh, so I got a hot one. It was like biting into a heavenly pillow! There’s also a lot of pumpkin and maple foods available in this area. Several country businesses have a lot of extra activities going on for this first weekend of autumn. It already looks fun! One of the most underrated, beautiful parts of #NewZealand. #Cromwell is surrounded by the sparking blue-green #CluthaRiver and Lake Dunstan, some of the world’s best Pinot Noir wineries, fruit orchards, and historic gold mines. If this place was anywhere in NZ other than 45 minutes from the most beautiful town, I think a lot more people would visit here.
