anne shirley is maybe autistic?

tbh I feel like maybe I am just hc-ing everyone all of my faves… but like… listen okay so… I was thinking that maybe Anne Shirley (or Blythe, but… anyway… you don’t see as much of her as Blythe)… is autistic? Like okay so…

special interests: she’s constantly talking on and on about stuff… she get sreally excited and sometimes can’t tell when she’s overstepped and talking too much, she becomes obsessed with things to the point of imitating them, like her Lady of the Lake reenactment… and grew up relying on those special interest things to help her through life… romance… quotes…

with the quoting things that could be like, echolalia (my life is a perfect graveyard of buried hopes) I think that’s the phrase… she says it over and over as a source of comfort, yes because of its meaning and relating her life to the lives of romantic heroines, but also I think it might be a sort of stim thing?

also she loves taking everything in and feeling emotions wholly and being thrilled by life? like she experiences her happiness and she is just filled with joy, completely, and she can’t contain herself…

and then when she is sad she’s in the ‘depths of despair’ everything is horrible and unbearable and so extreme.. she just can’t help but to feel it completely.

she’s also often misunderstood, but she’s a gentle person, she can be very sensitive (and there’s a line about how she might have forgotten about the being called out and the carrots incident if only that one thing hadn’t pushed her over the edge, but because of it she felt miserable and ashamed and she just couldn’t take it) I don’t know maybe I’m just overthinking it, but I feel like it makes sense. She loves Paul with his little people, and she’s dissapointed when kids like Davy don’t quite understand her idea of things being pretty… and the difference between falsehoods and stories…

she can be quick tempered, and a lot of things result from her misunderstandings, her lack of awareness about some societal ideas… and her favouring pretty things over logic in terms of… trying to die her hair or get rid of her freckles… she’s obsessed with a certain way of being even if her mistakes really cost her? and she prefers more stimmy sort of aesthetic type things b/c she feels happier and more comfortable with them?

also she has particular focus on specific things, like when she’s learning poems or dances or trying to impress kids or keep up with gilbert…

but she also has trouble keeping focus all the time? like she’s forgetabout food on the stove, or to do some chore for marilla and it’s never cruel or intentional, it’s just an honest mistake. (like memory/focus issues

I don’t know, I’m sure there are other things but… like… I feel like she could easily be autistic like? idk? but also the idea that she is is nice b/c it shows her in a positive light as someone who is adored because of her differences, not so much in spite of them. She has embarrassing and difficult moments, but ultimately she’s adored because of her differences, and her misinterpretation of lack of care for social rules. she brings sweetness and happiness into people’s lives so idk? it’s just kinda nice.. anyway… i have been think about this

Anyway, I think I have a better explanation for the actual meaning of the whole imagine how is touch the sky picture.

So my Facebook friend pointed out that it’s actually a direct translation of the Spanish phrase “Imagina cómo sería tocar el cielo”

Which means “imagine how it would be to touch the sky.” But a literal translation of it would be “imagine how is touch the sky.”

Meaning the picture wasn’t just a meaningless jumbled mess of English, it was just a case of bad translation.

Allegedly, “imagina cómo sería tocar el cielo” is a Hannah Montana lyric so it’s probably why it was written aesthetically on the paper and the paper was held up to the sky.

Alright folks, case closed. You can all stop pretending “imagine the sky, how is the sky, touch the sky” makes that much more sense than:
