to me the structure of aftg is so interesting

in the last book the climax of the series is in the midde of the book. like i know you could argue that beating the ravens is the climax, and it is, but THE BIGGEST CLIMAX of the books is undoubtedly neils past catching up to him

but. it doesn’t end the story. life goes on, there is recovery, finding your footing when, suddenly, maybe you get to have it all. neil might actually get to live

and the second half of the book is just recovery. and then the iconic game

i don’t know where this was going but the point is, i once saw a review of aftg and it was complaining about this. but i dont see it as a flaw, i think it suits the books theme and i juft really really love it okay

The funniest thing about Andrew sleeping with his hand under Neil’s pillow in the cabin scene is the fact that this is a king-sized bed.  Those things are enormous, like you need a compass and a map to find another person in one.  But these two nerds love each other so much that they’re leaving about 85% of the bed’s surface unoccupied just to be near each other and I just love it so much

Even better is that Neil chose his side of the bed. And he’s used to sleeping in small dorm beds now and with his mother behind him previously, so he’s gotta be a still sleeper. He didn’t wiggle himself and his pillow to the middle of the bed. That means Andrew is the one that scooted across the bed to be closer to Neil and that fucks up my heart in all kinds of good ways :’)
