The short answer? It depends on what your skin type is and what you're trying to achieve. Here's the lowdown on when you should be doing it and what you should be using.
I have been into chemical exfoliants lately and while I continue to use physical exfoliants once and a while (1-2x/month when I’m feeling dull and grimy and in need of instant gratification) I have been using it daily and even reached a point of trying using a mix of PHA, AHA and BHA on a daily basis in my routine often twice a day. Physical Exfoliants often make a point to state in the directions the amount of times in a week it can be used but chemcial exfoliants are not always so clear especially when it comes in variety of forms from cleansing oil to being incorporated in moisturizers.I find that especially in a time where I am increasing my BHA use to accommodate my breakouts that occur as a result of all day mask wearing, that im wondering how much is too much. I was noticing especially an increase in sensitivity. It’s important to listen to your skin and see what it needs rather than overexfoliating and damaging it and with exfoliating acids that is important to remeber. This article as a result is very helpful and so even though I have cut back on chemical exfoliants twice a day I am now attempting to decrease use even further to only several times a week. Oh the road is long when you have sensitive acne prone skin with large pores LOL

Pros:
- A lot of product yet afforable
- Pump
- Gentle

HERB DAY 365 Foaming Cleaner: Mung Bean (5 oz)- $8 [$1.6/oz]
PROS:
- Usually on sale for buy one get one (worth $4 each!) @ the face shop
- Gentle use, great for sensitive skin*
- Feels very clean*
- Removes oily residue from makeup removers*
CONS:
- It’s squeaky clean => tightness, over production of oil (iffy for oily dehydrated skin)
CONCLUSION: Initially liked how clean it felt but as I understand my skin more, I am looking for a cleanser that feels clean but not ‘squeaky’ clean as I do not want to aggravate my skin into overproduction of oil. My issue was that I’d wash my face and for a minute I feel so clean and my skin feels soft but then my skin becomes tight and uncomfortable soon after. Overall, a good product if you don’t mind the tightness prior to moisturizing and it is great for sensitive skin but if you are have dehydrated skin it may not be as great of an experience. Due to the pricing of this product it’s tempting to give this another go in the future and so if I were to use this in the future it will be when I’m satisfied with the other parts of my skincare routine.
RATING: 3.5/5 stars
