Here's a great chance to see a great band. Widowspeak plays this Sunday at tiny Chicago venue Schubas.
If you are in the Chicago area come join me this Monday June 22 at Delilah's. The Strait may be closed again but we're getting back to Punk Rock roots & more with DJBV. The fun and Dollar Beers and Two Dollar whiskey starts at 9pm!
Chicago's RumbleHawk played the tiny stage at Delilah's back in February and then again at Liar's Club a few weeks ago. These guys do not disappoint! Catch them at Reggie's on Friday July 3rd!
For those of you close to Evanston this is a very chill outdoor series. Free to attend!
Downtown Evanston, created in 1987, provides marketing and management services to the downtown Evanston, Illinois district.
This library of live Chicago music shows is Mind Blowing, go ahead and check out old shows by Tahiti 80, Wedding Present, Camper Van Beethoven, Imperial Teen, and much more!
Yeah, baby! Let's do it again! Calling all Freaks, Misfits, and Outcasts to come aboard! The savage beat is back from the deep, and we're cr
It’s not too late to jump on this cruise!
Former Hideout employee Teri O'Brien has purchased the Bucktown bar and venue from owners Tim and Katie Tuten and Mike and Jim Hinchsliff. "
Pretty big Chicago news last week in the Indie / Alt Country music venue. Katie & Tim will be missed, not so sure about their other partners. I don't go to the Hideout like I did years ago. The bands and the vibe have not been the same for the last five years or so, but maybe this change can get things moving again in the right direction!
Social Distortion have announced a 2026 North American tour featuring fellow California punk legends the Descendents and Australian punk act
No Chicago area stops though they will play the Midwest around September. Seems like we can fill these three bands to play Rio Fest.
The first time I went to Shaky Knees it was in the late Spring and fit my schedule that year. 2026 takes place in September and seeing Turnstile, Fontaines D.C. and Geese basically playing in a row could be enough to get me back.
I caught Robbie's show last nigh in Three Oak Michigan at The Acorn Theatre and he's still the same Robbie that played dozens of shows in Chicago before moving west. We were a bit disappointed that he skipped several of his popular songs and went pretty deep with the new album and other rarities but it was still a solid show.
He was joined by his fiddle player and there are still quite a few U.S. dates to catch him.
Summerfest in Milwaukee. Artists have dropped, definitely some interesting ones!
Jim has three shows in Chicago this weekend. And there is a free tasting of his Bourbon at Delilah’s on Thursday night. That’s all I’ll say….
I listed to a mix of Australian artists which included Hoodoo Gurus, Midnight Oil and INXS and this song came on. It looks like they only had a couple albums in the 80's and then one more in 2017, The Living Kind appears to be their only song that had much traction (released in 1986).

Hi everyone, I have not been consistently updating here (mostly I post about Chicago music and other related music stuff) but plan on changing that.
Check back for more updates on general music or bands that have been through or are coming to Chicago. I also add some special interest thoughts as well.
I'm a DJ at Delilah's in Chicago, mostly Punk & Rock but also dabble in Ska, Reggae, and lost gems, etc. You can also find me at BlueSky billv.bsky.social .
I hope to catch up with you one way or another.

October was a pretty good month
Trip to Austin TX, saw Grandaddy, Neko Case and Beta Band. Had a couple DJ gigs. More to come.

Chicago's Sharp Pins play a special set this evening at Rockwell on the River as part of the Sound and Gravity Launch Party. You can also check out a bunch of their stuff at Bandcamp.
Chicago is full of Summer street festivals and this one is my favorite. National & International acts that play original music with a few local artists sprinkled in. And I can ride my bicycle!
Ted Leo & the Pharmacists, Calexico, Mekons, Alejandro Escovedo and Heartless Bastards are the better known musicians. There's always good beer and food too. See ya there, the party runs July 11-13!
