I’m starting to choose my major for college because I’m going to be a Senior in the fall. In 10th grade after I took Chemistry, I realized that I wanted to do something in that field - Pharmacy. But then in 11th grade, I took Accounting class and realized that it was something I had a knack for.
Right now, I am leaning towards Accounting because I like math and I’m good at it.
I don’t know, but I want to decide soon!
Having a knack for something just means you have a knack for it. I have a knack for chemistry, biology, and mathematics but I wouldn't be caught dead pursuing anything involved in those fields.
I would think that it would be easier to find a job as a pharmacist and they tend to make more money right off the bat. I think that as a pharmacist, you'd have to know a ton of information about the prescriptions, medical conditions, side effects, which drugs interact badly with other drugs, all sorts of stuff - but the bright side is that you get to help people everyday (which is awesome, in my opinion). For pharmacy, you'll have to go to graduate school (which means more years and more money :( ).
If you would like to spend the rest of your life crunching numbers and coming up with figures, that's awesome. I also think that accountants tend to have a solid job (as in once you're in a firm, you'll pretty much stay there) and you'll have the chance to move up the ladder, but the need for accountants fluctuates with the economy. However, you would only need a four-year degree and a license in order to begin your career as an accountant.
Just kinda think about what you want to do until you're 60+ years old. And that's a loooonnngggg time. 0_0
