It’s good to be excited about rewatching an episode. It feels like it’s been a while. And this is a fun one! We get the Tarlos wedding prep, Owen and Andrea getting a bit carried away, and the start of Marjan’s two-episode mini-arc. I always forget that that plot starts in 4x08, because 4x09 is the quintessential Marjan episode. It’s always a surprise when 4x08 comes around and Marjan’s solo plot kicks off. I’m excited. Let’s get into it!
I love that, of all their friends, it’s Mateo and Nancy who’ve been pulled into suit-related decisions.

I wish I remembered what I thought about Grant and Kylie the first time I watched this episode. I probably thought they were murderers or something. They give off that vibe until you understand the situation.
Wesley’s dad is making me stressed. No wonder the kid can’t drive.
I’m certain those power lines are not strong enough to hold the weight of a sedan with two people inside. Even if they were, what’s to stop the car just rolling back down again? But hey, this is 9-1-1: Lone Star. Realism isn’t something we regularly engage with.
Taco time! I love this scene. There are so many great moments in this episode but this one is my favourite because just about everyone in the gang gets to have a moment. The dialogue is great and I love Judd’s anecdote about Grace’s dad.
I had barbacoa for the first a couple of years ago (which I confess I only recognised because of Lone Star) and it changed my life.
I have a friend who once made a cake that was gluten, sugar and dairy free. I asked her if it was made of air.
The cut from Carlos saying “I know just the person to do it” to the close-up on Andrea’s face is perfect. I also love the lighting and the way they’re all seated around the table. It’s so dramatic.
This is how we know Carlos is desperate – he pulls out the big guns: the cow eyes and the threat of a gluten free wedding cake.

The facial acting in this episode is next level. Carlos’s face when Owen brings the laptop over and he sees the picture of the flower arrangement. 😂
I don’t remember what I thought was up with Grant and Kylie the first time I watched this episode, but I do remember the way my heart sank when the truck pulled away and Kylie was still there.
Owen wearing his captain’s jacket to go look at flower arrangements sure is a choice. Maybe he’s hoping it will encourage the florist to give them a good deal. Flowers are surprisingly expensive.
I’m with TK and Carlos: those centrepieces aren’t even that nice. I think it’s the vases.
And you know what else isn’t nice? TK’s coat. Hate it. Possibly the ugliest thing he’s ever worn. This is a hill I will die on. (The shirt underneath is great – love that. The coat, though, is a crime against TK’s fashion sense.)
“You only get married once, mijo. Twice in your case.” – A burn so hot even I felt it. 😂
It’s okay, Owen. Marjan’s getting married next season and you’ll get to live all your flower arch fantasies. (Idk what about TK has ever made Owen think he might like a flower arch, though.)
I love that Andrea doesn’t give in to Owen. He clearly expects her to commiserate and agree with him, and it would be easy for her to, because when a person is right there in front of you it often is easier to just go along with them so you don’t end up arguing about something. But Andrea understands that they overstepped and weren’t hearing what TK and Carlos were saying, and if there’s one thing she understands, it’s not hearing her son. I like that we get to hear her talk about that regret and how it’s been for her to live with.
Marjan is a badass. I know we all know it, but sometimes it has to be said.
At least Carlos will appreciate the extra virgin olive oil from Tuscany.

Love this talk between Owen and TK. We used to see them one-on-one as father and son so often in the early seasons, but that’s fallen away a lot in the time since as they’ve gotten drawn into other things. It’s nice to have this moment and it feels so natural here, in the lead-up to TK getting married, when it makes sense that they’d both be feeling nostalgic.
I’m notorious for leaving my teabag in the cup and at least once a week I think about this scene, and whether it might be making my tea acidic and staining my teeth. This show really does have a lasting impact.
What a great episode. In fact, I might even rate it more highly than 4x04, and that’s saying something. We get a few emotional moments, and it has just the right balance of serious with Marjan’s story and fun with the wedding shenanigans, and I love how it leaves the audience feeling like Marjan’s story has been wrapped up. Grant is arrested, Kylie is free of him and Marjan is reminded of her purpose in life, so as viewers we’re lulled into a false sense of security, and that makes the effect of next week’s episode even greater.
Synopsis: The 126 must rescue a father/son involved in drivers ed lesson gone haywire, then encounter a self-help guru who has lost self-control. Meanwhile, Owen turns into a "Dadzilla" in helping plan TK and Carlos' wedding, and Marjan is suspicious when she meets a couple on her road trip.
