The Past is Present
Peter have a soft chuckle. "Jackson hated Scott; outright and honestly. Much like my niece." Hearing the words, he chuckled. "Our metabolism are much faster than normal people. You'll be famished once food starts coming." he replied, looking over the options. "Italian food is quite good."

Theo nodded slowly before looking up at Peter.Ā āIām not, Iām not sure of anything anymore. A few weeks ago I was so close to power, to my family, to my own groupā¦to have, everything I wanted. Everything I promised myself whenā¦.ā he said, stopping himself. He wasnāt about to pour his thoughts out over a bar conversation with Peter. What was done to him was monstrous and in turn; created such.Ā
āIāll give you, as much time as you want.ā he said before looking at Peter.Ā āYouāre that confident you can teach him to control his inner wolf? Because Iāve seen it, its very angry, and very strong.ā he said shaking his head.Ā āA lot stronger than he should be.ā he said before nodding thanks to Peter.Ā āThanks, I guess my want for family outweighs my want for power.āĀ
Theo smiled.Ā āI know what you mean. Its difficult for people to believe that we regret our actions.ā he said looking down at his drink.Ā āWhen thatās really all we think about.āĀ
āTheo, regardless of our pasts, what was done to us or forced upon us, choices we made, we can move passed them given the right place and people. You have that chance, but it certainly takes time to have people get used to a new you. Being in Beacon held me back. Being here has not only relaxed those of us who came from Beacon, but helped beiyng a deeper bond to our pack.ā Peter explained, pouring a fresh drink.
āHmm?ā Peter looked up and smirked. āTheo, do you know what role I had in my pack when I was a beta?ā he asked. He didnāt give the boy time to reply before he continued. āI was an enforcer and a trainer. Any beta myā¦.beloved sister couldnāt train to control in a weekās time was passed to me; even when I was a teenager. Our parents initially chose me to be new alpha because I could successfully train the most wild of betas. As Iām sure youāve noticed, that ceremony never occurred.ā He gave a quiet, almost sarcastic laugh and shook his head as he finished his drink and set the glass down. āYour brother has a surprisingly strong wolf. Most of that is part because Scott McCall - Being the moron that he unfortunately is - taught Liam to fear the wolf inside. Fear of your shift makes the animal stronger, because it can latch onto that fear and come out over the simplest worry. Luckily, I have an ace skill at helping people not just learn control, but finding an anchor that actually works.ā He gave a nod as he thought. āIām sure your brother will be fine in no time.ā
āFamily is always more important once you get the chance to reevaluate things. Itās part of why I was so willing to bring Laura back on my own if I needed to. I needed to tell her I was sorry and I never meant to hurt her. But she already knew. I expected her to attack me when she finally woke up, but instead she hugged me like a child and said she was sorry. Family can surprise you in many ways. They can support most anything you do; even bounce back from murder or a psychopathic break.ā
The Past is Present
Peter shrugged.Ā āPerhaps one day. Right now, I doubt heād believe me about being his blood father. And if, by miracle, he did believe me, heād try to kill me.ā He listened, nodding.Ā āYes, Malia was a great deal confused in her transfer from coyote to human.ā he agreed.Ā āShe just had the wrong people around her.ā
The older alpha smiled lightly.Ā āItās for a contract to own a business. I have to have income of some sort.ā Because the millions he had in his bank account didnāt count when he had a family to take care of. He nodded at the deniability, unable to see a downside.Ā āIs there anything specific youād like? I know a few good places.ā
āWhy would he try to kill you? Or, was he part of the Mccall gang when all of this went downā¦making him Jackson Whittemore.ā he said looking at Peter and tilting his head back and forth a little.Ā āI did a lot of research before I came to Beacon. His name popped up once or twice; never suspected him to be your son; makes sense though.ā he said.Ā āGuessing when you were having issues; he didnāt see the best side of you.āĀ
āWhat kind of business? And I thought you Hales were rich, like; really rich.ā he said.Ā āWhy do you need to open a business? Or is this mostly for a fun little endeavor to plant roots here?ā he asked before shrugging.Ā āChinese sounds good; New Yorkās got some of the best.āĀ
"Not a part of the McCall pack per se, but close enough." Peter answered. "He didn't see anything but a monster." he said honestly. "I accept that. Perhaps if he came back one day and wanted to find me, hear me out...I would let him." He smirked, nodding. "A way to plant some roots. A place where the pack can come and relax after a long day or just to drink and vent." he explained. "I had a start for one back in Beacon, but it never went anywhere. No real potential. Here, the clientele and demographic is perfect." He turned towards the restaurant and found a spot, parking and moving to get out. "Try to play nice. We're in border territory, and two of Markinson's pack work here."

āIām not, angry that he has a lover. Iām just surprised mostly.ā he said as he shook his head. āA little jealous; not of the lover thing. Thatād be weird. Just, jealous of Colin. Heās got Liamās trust, heās got Liam safe and protectedā¦ā he said. āI just, I want that. I should have that.ā he said shaking his head before nodding .
āGood, Iām glad. I want that for him. And I want him to control his powers, and if he chooses our pack; then thatās even better. But Iāve done enough manipulating and trying to control him. If he chooses our pack, then it will be of his own free will and I will haveā¦nothing to do it with it.ā he said sighing a little. He wanted to intervene, make it so that he could have power and family but he shook off the thoughts. No, Not again.
āThanksā¦ā he said nodding a bit as he took a sip of his own drink. āI know there wonāt be any brotherly outings by I can hope. Besides Laura, honestly; what do you regret?ā
Peter arched a brow.Ā āI understand how that can be frustrating.ā He assured, leaning forward on the bartop as he watched the chimera. āIām sure one day you will have a hand in keeping him safe and having his trust.ā he answered.
Everything about this is letting him have his choice.ā Peter explained. āSo all I can say is let me have a little time to work some magic and get him to see no one is here to ruin things for him. Because I doubt anyone could handle him once I get him trained good.ā he assured, taking a sip of his drink. āI know that urge to do things differently is tempting, so props to you for fighting it.āĀ
He laughed softly, nodding as he finished his drink.Ā āI bet one day, it might happen.ā He paused, arching a brow.Ā āNot forcing my point about the woman who killed my family better. Not going with Cora to make sure she was alright. Forcing Derek to bow to me when I was alpha. Thereās a list, even if no one believes it exists.ā

Theo nodded. āWell, if you ever want to try. Iāll do whatever I can to help.ā he said nodding; extending a metaphorical hand so to speak. They were co-alphas now. Theo wanted to show he was in this to help Peter as much as Peter was in this to help Theo. āI agree, when I met her she was very torn between Scottās pack and doing her own thing. Very concerned with finding out where her mother was. Even willing to keep information from Scott but at the same time wanting to help him. It was confusing to say the least.ā he said before nodding.
āFood sounds good.ā he said nodding a bit. āWhatās the interview for?ā he asked curiously, he still wasnāt fully sure why Peter was in New York other than his mate. He was tempted to find out but he figured asking would be the best method. āYeah, donāt want yo to lie to Colin; so plausible deniability. You donāt know where I am and thatās the truth.ā

Liam nodded, then blushed a bit. āIām not, Iām not his boyfriend yetā¦I mean, at allā¦I meanā¦I wantā¦shut upā¦ā he blushed, getting a bit flustered, a small smile forming on his lips. āThanks for the, soothing. I guessā¦I really didnāt want to have an episode in the middle of New York.ā he said taking a small breath. He was fairly sure now that when the time came heād choose Peterās pack. Peter was a good man, heād made mistakes but he wasnāt trying to repeat them.
āSounds goodā¦Iāll make sure I donāt have any jobs for those days so I can just head over to your place in the morning.ā he said before smiling a little. ā.I donāt want him to see that side of meā¦Heās a good guy, and you say I wonāt be able to hurt him but I can do a lot of things I shouldnāt be able to do. I donāt want to put his life at stake; I donāt want to open my eyes after an episode and see him hurtā¦ā he said shaking his head.
Liam sighed, Peter was trying to shine some light on Theo and Liam just wanted to scream. But Peter wasnāt one to lie; he hadnāt lied to him so far but he was still so conflicted; he had a brother. He had family other than Colin; he had a future pack. He just felt so wrong trusting Theo again; he didnāt want to but Peter seemed like he wanted to give him a chance. āIā¦I want to know what they did to himā¦I want to believe himā¦I want to meet my brotherā¦I justā¦I want to keep my life now. I built this, I donāt want him to destroy it.ā
Peter chuckled.Ā āYou want to. Which isnāt bad, from what Iāve seen, you two would match pretty well.ā He held out his hand to help the younger wolf up.Ā āCome on, letās get you inside. Colin is on his way; pretty worried from what I can make of his message. Letās get you inside and Iāll get you some soda so you can stay sober. Alright?ā he asked, tilting his head.Ā
āIām sure that will work fine.ā He gave a soft smile.Ā āPup, if what I think is right, trust me when I tell you there is no way yo could ever hurt Colin.ā He chuckled and reached to ruffle the otherās hair.Ā āRelax, youāll have control in no time.ā
āIām not sure Theo is going to open up about what happened to him, but I do know he wants to change. I have told him I will take him out if he acts in any way I donāt like. He has helped me a great deal in helping bringing Laura back, and all he asked was to let him come with me to New York. Heās been under no obligation to listen to me, but he hasnāt gone after anyone and heās clearly not gone looking for you yet.ā

He nodded a bit, he had nothing else to put his faith in other than Peter right now and he was fairly sure the Alpha was aware of that. But he didnāt want to let his weakness show. āThanksā¦I just wish I knew what it was a sign of.ā he said shaking his head a bit before listening to Peter once more. He talked about Liam and Colin; the thought angered him a bit but he took a small breath and shook it off.
āYeah, I guess weāre both a bit too stubborn sometimesā¦ā he said laughing a little before sighing and shaking his head. āI know heās scarred, heās been through a lot. Me, The Benefactor, The Dread Doctorsā¦they were never supposed to kidnap himā¦I told them to let him go butā¦he roughed them up and they werenāt happy.ā he said shaking his head. āThanksā¦Iāllā¦Iāll stay away until you give me an all clearā¦and, I hope youāre right.ā he said pausing.
āI made a lot of mistakes, I should have done things differently. But I didnāt. And now I just want my brother. Iām glad heās safe, and Iāmā¦Iām alright with his choice of guys. But; it should be me protecting him.ā
Peter shrugged.Ā āMaybe itās a sign of something good to come. We wonāt know just yet.ā He managed a smile, moving to pour a fresh drink.Ā āYou canāt get angry that Liam has a lover. Protect him from bad ones, maybe, but Colin isnāt bad. Believe me, Colin is a good guy compared to some.ā
āHe needs time. Heās finally in control of things, got some ground under him.ā he explained.Ā āAnd heās started on training to control the wolf instead of fear it.ā He gave a soft smile.Ā āHeās fine here, and heās on the way to choosing our pack. We just need to let him take his time. I know thatās rough, but itās what we have to do.ā
āTheo, we all make mistakes. Myself included. You can talk to my niece about it just as easy. Everyone has a little of somthing they regret.ā He picked up his glass.Ā āYouāll have him in the pack eventually. Now there probably wonāt be one on one brotherly outing for a while, but I get the feeling heās Ā debating joining the pack and thatās a good thing.ā

I really donāt get lacrosse. Still, I read somewhere that lacrosse comes from Native American tribes and that they played it to resolve conflict. I have a little conflict of my own to resolve, Scott.

Theo nodded, Peter knew what he was going through. He didnāt know the other Alpha had a second kid. He had just known about Malia but he knew that Peter had to be feeling the same hurt he was. Only Peter was a lot better at handling it. Theo just wanted things to be good, for the hurt to stop. āDidnāt know you had a son, maybe hope isnāt lost with him at least. You could try reaching out maybe.ā he said, offering him a similar path to his own.
āI know, heās not going to let me anywhere near Liam.ā he sighed and looked at Peter. āPlay Liason, do whatever you need to do; say whatever. I just, I want my brother and I want my chance so Iāll agree to whatever it is I need to do for that chance.ā he said nodding a bit. He wasnāt sure he could keep to his word about leaving Peter to do his thing. But he was willing to try.
āIāve got an apartment in town. But for you to pull plausible deniability should Colin try to find and or kill me. Iāll head there later so you wonāt have to lie.ā
Peter shook his head.Ā āI doubt he would answer; let alone believe that Iām his father. He knows heās adopted, he just...heās got way too much of myself in the way he acts. Knowing what I know now, I can see it. Derek had a theory about him back when he was after getting turned. The kid wasnāt anywhere near the fire, but he had memories from it, of being in the flames. Itās a rare thing, but a wolf, if in enough pain, can imprint memories to their immediate family. Children and siblings mostly.ā He drove towards a small restaurant, finding a parking space and killing the engine.Ā āMalia might understand more if she wasnāt so clouded by Scottās morally white world. She was a wild animal for eight years but the instant Scott got her, he had her preaching with a few distortions to his words. Sheās the closest to being an omega because she sees things more like an adult than anyone in that damn town.ā
āLike I said yesterday, that may take a little bit of time, depending on the situation. Colin may be harder to convince, but he knows me well enough to know I wouldnāt purposely put anyone in danger. At least not these days.ā He nodded as he heard about the apartment. āFair enough. Letās get some food, and then I have to get to a interview later on. You have my numberif something comes up.ā

Liam nodded slowly. āYeahā¦Iām..Iām in more control now. I can focus on myself, I can focus on Colinā¦ā he said, smiling a little. When Peter touched him he felt a wave of relief; the Alpha comforting him helped. He felt a little more relaxed by Peterās touch; he believed it to be because he was an Omega and Peter was an Alpha. It was a calming factor and despite the fact that Liam wasnāt Peterās beta, or in his pack. It helped him a bit. He took a deep breath and nodded.
No more chains sounded good, he hated being locked up on the full moon. Full control over his own body and his powers sounded even better. He could fight but being able to control himself, to not be afraid of himself any more. He needed to be trained. He needed this control. Even more so he didnāt want Colin to see this side of him. He didnāt want to hurt the druid. He wouldnāt let himself. āGoodā¦I want to be trainedā¦I want controlā¦I want not to hurt people I donāt mean tooā¦ā he said. āI donāt want to hurt Colin, and I donāt want him to see this part of me.ā
Liam sighed and nodded slowly. Peter was right and Liam knew it. After everything that Theo had done. That monster was his brother. āHow could he do that to me?ā he asked shaking his head. āHe could have told meā¦he ruined everything for me in Beaconā¦ā he said, his voice cracking slightly; a tear running down his cheek. āAm I really safe hereā¦?ā he asked, more so to himself but he wouldnāt turn down an answer.
The alpha could sense the relief in the omega, giving a soft smile.Ā āItās easier to focus the more you think, isnāt it?ā he asked, tilting his head knowingly.Ā āI know thereās not much I can do, since youāre an omega, but youāre still Colinās boyfriend, so Iām obliged to at least try to help you; i helps a little that Iām an alpha. An alphaās presence naturally soothes an omegaās.ā That, and of course there was the fact that he intended on waiting and hoping Liam picked him as an alpha in due time. He wasnāt going to force or rush anyone, or even bring up the topic. For now, he was fine just keeping an eye on him when Colin couldnāt.Ā
āTraining isnāt going to be an easy task, pup.ā he said.Ā āBut I can tell your serious. So weāll start this weekend. Iāll let Colin know youāre up for learning how to control it. Although I doubt heād be scared to see you wolfed out. Heās resilient and damn accepting of our world. Namely because heās a part of it.ā He smiled reassuringly.Ā āColin wonāt get hurt, I doubt you could do that even if youād lost all sense of your human side. Our anchors are strong like that, we canāt hurt what is most precious to us. I speak from experience, so trust me on that.ā Heād been entirely insane, out for blood and death and vengeance, and yet he couldnāt focus any anger or rage on Chris; and in turn, Allison. Partly because they werenāt involved, of that he knew. Then there was a point in that the girl smelled similar enough to Chris that Peterās focus was short-circuited because at the time, he couldnāt understand the full power of his love for the other, slightly younger adult. He had cried when Allison died, not because she was close to him, but because he could almost sense how hurt Chris was at the loss of his daughter. And your mate being in pain was worse than losing a pack member by far; especially once you admitted they were your mate.
Peter gave a light frown.Ā āPerhaps, in his own way, your brother wanted to have power to protect you. I was clouded by that once.ā Of course, he had the power heād always known he should have had, not to mention his mate and at least some of his remaining family, so his more homicidal tendencies werenāt as strong these days. Peter credited Chris with much of that good factor.Ā āHe doesnāt know how to show affection like others; we donāt know what the Dread Doctors did to him while they had him.ā He explained.Ā āI do know he shows serious regret. Heās not here to hurt anyone, or kill. He just wants to be in your life; but I told him that would take time. Iāve been where he is; trying to be close to family that hates me for my past. He can just...be very stubborn, which I feel is a trait your bloodline shares greatly. But he seems to understand that between what he did in Beacon, as well as Colin and I, he needs to stand down until youāre willing to let him start making amends.ā He watched the young wolf calmly.Ā āEverything about what happens around you is your choice now, Liam. Lover, family, everything. Colin and I will keep you safe no matter what.ā
The Past is Present
@thealphachimera
Theo sighed and nodded. He was disappointed and trying to keep it from showing the best he could but for the first time he had a lead on his brother and a chance to make it right and Peter was telling him to stand down. Obviously the elder Alpha knew things Theo didnāt. But still. He wanted to see his brother.
āI know. I just, we finally had a lead and now I canāt persue it.ā he said shaking his head. āI get that you know things I donāt. But I have a chance to make things right, and I canāt.ā he said. āI get that heās safeā¦heās supposed to be safe with meā¦ā
Peter gave another sigh.Ā āI know itās rough. Believe me, I know better than anyone. I have two kids; kids I never even knew existed until about a year ago. Malia is my daughter, and a young man youāve never met is my son; twins. When I discovered I had children, I kind of panicked. And then I wanted to see them, to protect them and do anything to show I never would have let them go. Unfortunately, one is in London and the other is with the McCall pack remnants, so thereās little to no hope of ever having a decent time to actually know my own children. You, at least, can have that chance, but there is no way Colin is just going to let you waltz in if he knows about what happened in Beacon. I have to play liason until heāll even let you in the same room if Liamās told him about you. Just trust me, alright?ā He asked, watching the other alpha.Ā āNow then, on to more pressing issues. Do you have living arrangements or should I pay for you to have a hotel for a while?ā
There were times when the screams echoed so deep in the nightmares that not even sleep paralysis could keep Peter in bed. His body would tense and as blue eyes opened, flashing the color of his wolf eyes, he would carefully climb from the embrace of his mate, and slip quietly into the kitchen. There was a small stash of long, snow white candles in the door of the fridge, but there was one hidden along the back wall that Peter would pull out. It wasnāt as bad as it could be, not really. He would set the candle into a candlestick bought at ikea and light the wick. He would then cross his arms to lean against the counter and stare at the flames; blue eyes lost in it the way the little flame would flicker and shift as he watched it, his mind focusing on the pain of the nightmare and staring unblinking into the flame, willing the noise in his head; the smell of burnt flesh and wood and the image of panicking bodies to vanish into the mutli-colored hues of the simple little flame.Ā
He always knew when Chris woke; it was a kind of thing where once the bed began to cool from lack of Peterās normal body heat that the hunter would come looking for him. Sometimes Peter was a million percent certain Chris was awakened from the moment the wolf startled to consciousness from sleep paralysis. Peter never moves, even as he hears movement; too locked in the trance of the flickering gold heat that he both fears and admires. Just as it matters not the way Chris is brought from sleep, when he eventually found his way to the kitchen, he would always find the wolf staring into the flame. Sometimes, if the voices have been terrible enough and arenāt dimming in his loverās head, he would find blue eyes staring as Peter petted the flame; almost apologetically. It would take only Chris leaning in to blow the candle out while running calloused fingers through the older manās hair to bring Peter out of the daze and back to reality. Itās a weakness - a vulnerability - that only Chris is ever allowed to see. Because Peter has always shown he was strong to every face he meets, except Chris. Peter will only let Chris see that he isnāt always strong, that he still bears scars from his mistakes and he is just a man who craves to belong to someone who wonāt let him go.
And Peter knows that Chris will never do that because there is no pain as the candleās dangerously beautiful glow is extinguished by the soft breath of his mate; just a sudden sensation of safety and love that draws him into the warmth of Chrisā body and back to bed where he can rest for the rest of the night; temporarily free of screams and pain.

Theo sighed, then returned the bottle. āSorryā he said taking a deep breath and listening to Peter. He shook his head and apologized again. āIām sorry, I didnāt mean to annoy you or make you think Iām trying to go behind your back. I just, I want my brother. Everything I did, I thought I did it for power, so that becoming thisā¦lab experiment could mean something. Then I found out that I had a brother. I didnāt have to steal my own pack to have a family. I donāt know when I forgot thatā¦ā he said shaking his head.
āTaking care of him, in more than one way? What do you mean, and how are they well matched?ā he asked before nodding. āI know heās powerful; didnāt back down after I lost it for a second and showed my red eyes. Wasnāt a threat, I just; I lost my temper a bit.ā he said before sighing. āHe lost control? Because of meā¦.ā he said putting his hands in his face.
āWhat have I doneā¦.ā he said taking a deep breath before moving his hands. āIāllā¦Iāll stay away, no for now or Iāll try. Iāll stay away and let you, do; whatever you have to. I just, I need to talk to him. I need to show him that Iām not a monsterā¦ā Ā
The older alpha shook his head.Ā āI understand how frustrating it can be. Believe me, Theo.ā he began. He gave a soft smile.Ā āAt least you still have some. You could be all alone.ā He took a long, slow drink from his glass.Ā āPower can damage the strongest of men. The fact that you survived that alone is the sign of something.āĀ
He gave a thoughtful hum.Ā āWell, I know Colin well enough. And Liam...heās attached. Theyāre both a little too stubborn and they have a decent handle on anger. I suspect they probably both have similar limits before they lose control.ā He thought about the way Liam had spoken of Colin, the tone in Colinās voice whenheād spoken to him about Liam. He could still remember the anger in Colinās voice about Theo showing up so casually.Ā āYour brother has...well, given the things that happened in Beacon, heās still a little scarred. That takes time to heal from. But trust me; heās not entirely isolating you just yet. You made mistakes, thatās all.āĀ
He shook his head.Ā āYou donāt have to stay away, Theo, just give me time to get him to understand youāre not as bad as he thinks. If heās willing to see me beneath the exaggerations of the McCall pack, Iām sure he can find a way to at least try to understand youāre not as bad as he believes.āĀ
