TFP vs. TAB

So, since this brilliant post exists, I won’t even attempt to do a better job of explaining the parallels between TFP and TAB.

I mainly just want to point out (yet another) piece of evidence that supports this theory.

At the end of The Final Problem, one of the only charred books (if not the only) that we are actually capable of reading the title of is The Eight by Katherine Neville: 

Now, instead of listening to me try to explain this book, I’ll just add this short synopsis from this website:“The Eight, an intellectually and structurally complex novel, follows two narrative lines, each essentially telling the same story.” 

And now from the wikipedia page: “The Eight features two intertwined storylines set centuries apart.” 

Now, I know that this novel is also considered a mystery novel and that could be why it’s in Sherlock’s flat, but aren’t we also kind of led to believe that Sherlock has no interest in fiction?

This was so painful to watch, because I got the sense that John really did believe Mycroft’s every word. If you assume that this was all happening in John’s head, you realize that this is how he sees himself, this is what he’s afraid of, and it gets even more heartbreaking.

i had this mild worry we wouldn’t get johnlock until a surprise 4th episode the exact moment after sherlock said people always give up after three. 🙈 it seemed too crazy then but intuitions really weren’t to be ignored john
