( birth-cursed sibling )·:
ah. it had been the gendered child that the hollow knight spotted from so far away. thk had briefly considered trying to approach her quietly, but it felt like a dishonest way to approach family.
it would be doing the daughter of hallownest a disservice to try to trick her in any way.
it was not a surprise when she drew her needle against it. anyone familiar with the plight of hallownest would be justified in taking up arms against the hollow knight.
but hornet was right. she was still inside of it, and thk felt some amount of relief that there was someone else in the village who would understand the need to extinguish the sickly light within. but there could be unforeseen consequences to doing so.
as such, the hollow knight had to force itself to speak up again, something it had been doing quite a lot lately. it was aware that its voice was raspy and unnatural, a late addition to an imperfect vessel. cruel, to give something voice but to intend for it to never use it. “i am indeed unshackled.” out of some sense of caution and self preservation, it drew its nail with the intent to defend itself if necessary. “and she is indeed still within me.”
it would be so easy, to accept the fate that hornet wanted to give it. its duty was already over and done with, hallownest was safe if it were here. but… if it were killed here, it didn’t know what would happen. it couldn’t, in good conscience, doom this place in the same way as hallownest. “however, i ask that you lower your nail and hear me out before we clash.”
{♦} —; She watched it closely, and already adjusted her posture, arm back with her needle. At any given moment she was ready to throw it—until she heard it speak at least. She stumbled slightly, confused, wondering what was happening.
........?!
{♦} —; “You speak? Prithee, since when were you able to wield your tongue?! None of the archives that I perused yielded information of this, are there more secrets to you than I imagined? Or is this simply her influence on you, affected by a deeper connection?”
{♦} —; Hornet’s eyes squint, nodding slowly. She’ll hear out this request, perhaps if there’s a semblance of the original hose there she could grant it one last request. She couldn’t help but pity the poor thing. She of all people knew not to judge the circumstances of one’s birth. After all, she was no more than the result of a bargain. Though she is grateful for her life.
{♦} —; “Very well, cursed one, I shall grant you this one boon. If I do not like any of the answers, or I see any hint of her emerge from your shell I won’t hesitate to run you down. I may have failed before, but my needle strikes true to its target and I will target you and her together if I must. The void doesn’t protect you here.”
( kind stranger ):
while she didn’t exactly expect hostility from the other - she certainly didn’t expect the offer of … assistance. perhaps it’s just the waning parts of her former self still lingering like frayed sheets fluttering in the wind, the part of her that scarcely recognises when others reach out to her. they would want her to be better, wouldn’t they?
though her feet remained rooted, her shoulders relax, just a little. vira looks down at the creature with curiosity in her eyes. it’s safe to assume she’s never beheld such a being in her life, yet, the primal being that inhibits half of her soul would give cause as not to judge on appearance alone. “ firefly? ah. “ the primal beat hums once more, settling down on the curve of vira’s shoulder; somewhat satisfied in a manner at the discovery. “ her name is.. luminiera. - i apologise, i didn’t expect her to run off so suddenly. and yes, you are correct. considering the terrain, i wasn’t expecting many else out here, but– ” and she gives a small smile. “ it seems that wasn’t the case. perhaps two sets of eyes are better than one, hm? “
{♦} —; So it appeared it had a name, and so did the girl she’d imagine. The only thing Hornet was truly curious about, was the nature between the light and the girl. It wasn’t simply just pet and master, was it? Or maybe it was, she can’t be too quick to make reserved judgement after all, company was different in these parts.
{♦} —; “Oh, she’s a name, I hadn’t realized. You need not to apologize on her behalf, she is simply curious I believe. As long as she means no harm or transgressions, then I do not either.” Hornet nods her head, looking back to the berries once more before gesturing to them. “That they are, and the more berries picked the better. My name is Hornet, by the way, would it be alright for me to get yours?”
@digimindwave
{♦} —; Cold, desolate, and dreadful. Hornet’s observation of the city outskirts did not bear fruition as she’d hoped. Without extra assurance that she’d manage out there, she had no desire of exploring further than she did prior. No soul, no spells, nothing. She’d have to rely on others to get around here, and she wasn’t quite too enthusiastic with that knowledge. She’d have to learn how to deal though, and so for the past few days she’d been watching the people come and go. Who was, and wasn’t helpful. She figured she’d make herself part of the former.
{♦} —; Hornet would take up one of the Mayoral Tasks that was posted. She would approach the outskirts of the city, dead set on beelining towards the Tea Tree Springs. Hornet’s fingers worked around the goggles, and the swimwear made her feel encumbered. She was.....uncomfortable with this prospect. One step at a time, she approached the surface of the pool, and then she finally dipped her foot in.
.....ತ_ತ no.
{♦} —; As relaxing as the waters were, it seemed that she couldn’t bring herself to jump in. It seemed that her distaste for going swimming hasn’t changed, and she looked around. Ah—so someone else was taking it up as well. All for the better at least, she didn’t want to do this.
{♦} —; “.....you’re that odd one that helps around here and there—very polite and useful. I surmise that you also arrived to assist in retrieving the item laid here? I was going to get it but.....I don’t like water unless I’m either benefiting from drinking it, or if it falls from the sky.”
firefly?·:
with wary eyes, the lord gazes upon the other. Luminiera with her own wide eyes, peers close, floating ever so slightly away from her master and towards the creature? before them. She flutters and drifts, small blue, spectral orbs joining the primal in the short journey undertaken.
and yet, she has no choice but to chase after the primal beast that shares her soul. her fingers unconsciously drifting outward, highly bemused as to why Luminiera would leave her side without warning. “ –wait..! “ the lord calls out to her, though her eye catches and she halts in her step. It was a brief image, but the berries flicker in her peripheral - and Vira quickly comes to the conclusion that the other being must be here for them too.
Luminiera hovers and then hums a small tone, before returning to her master’s side and Vira looks down at the creature. Carefully choosing her words, she recites them cautiously. “ i see you’ve taken up the mayoral tasks also? @thegenderedchild“
{♦} —; It’s only been so long since she’s been here, and the folk were only getting more and more eccentric as the days pass by. The sentinel watched how the commerce in this quaint area worked. People did small jobs for others, and people asked for small jobs to be done. It wasn’t unlike Hallownest, except Hornet knew that she had to be more social to survive, as opposed to living off on her own like she had before. Thus, she took up one of the fairly simple mayoral tasks that were posted.
{♦} —; Not even an hour of lonesomeness in the area was permitted it seemed, as soon not after something came chasing after. She was wary, watching as it fluttered and flit here and there. It seemed...non-hostile, and not alone—but it wasn’t a being like most other was. From her carapace, Hornet watched as the newcomer came into view more, nodding her head to the question.
{♦} —; “Your assumptions are correct, I’ve taken to aid with the berry duty.” she says, eyeing both Vira and Luminiera. “I’m one of the recent additions here, and it was prudent to build rapport as soon as possible. I didn’t imagine I’d run into someone else for a while considering how supposedly busy the place was, but it seems you and your...firefly, were quick to take the job as well. Were you hoping perhaps to find assistance in this task?”

@infectedvessel
{♦} —; Cold, hard, and icy. The only thing that Hornet had seen since awakening in this land was the extreme conditions that it had subjected her to. It seemed whatever higher being dragged her here had provided her with home and nail, but none of what she had before. She’d tried to traverse quickly by throwing her nail and tugging along gossamer strings, but whatever spells she could do just simply weren’t coming. So for now, she would scout the tundra before taking on any jobs. To not get in over her head in this new settlement.
.....!
{♦} —; She hears the snow crunching towards her, a creature of magnificent size approaching. It was distant, and she readied her nail, waiting for it to come into vision from beyond the veil of snow. Hulking, brutish, and slouched over, she knew exactly what this was, and she readied a fighting stance.
{♦} —; “And thus my eyes do not deceive me so, it really is you.” she says. “Freed from the shackles of our forebears, you walk amongst us, was I unsuccessful in assisting the little ghost? It does not matter now, I can see you here plain in sight, and I see her still inside of you. I shall put an end to your suffering, my birth-cursed sibling, and once and for all provide the solution to her foul light.”
( hey all it’s good to finally get started here! if you guys want a starter then please like this post! i’ll cap it off at five and if you want to message me to plan out a thread please do so! )
