🍋🟩hold up lime emoji ?when did this happen 🍋🟩🍋🟩🍋🟩 this changes everything straight up🍋🟩🍋🟩🍋🟩🍋🟩🍋🟩🍋🟩🍋🟩🍋🟩🍋🟩
Mmmm lime
If anyone is curious about the technically of this, I'm going to break it down in layman terms:
There's two ways Unicode can display emojis, the first is to put it in as a new Unicode symbol, and this pretty much takes the same amount of work and storage space as putting another letter in the Unicode system
Or they can just stick two emojis together with a third blank joining designation emoji (know as a Zero-width joiner or ZWJ) and have them display a third image when everything is correctly strung together, witch takes far less space in the Unicode system
One of the few times you can tell from a glance if an emoji is internally a ZWJ combo or not is if you are on a system that is not up to date on Unicode updates, where the new symbols will either display as a blank or X'ed out square (known informally as tofu), or as the internal ZWJ emoji combo depending on how it's in the system
The Lime emoji was from the 2023 Emoji 15.1 update, so any systems not up to date from before 2023 will display the ZWJ sequence of Lemon and Green instead of the lime emoji
