‘Maybe there’s still a way. Y/N’s at home right? How can Gwi-ma hurt her if we allow Huntr/x to seal the Honmoon.’ Jinu’s eyes were dead, void of any light. His words were devoid of any emotion, as if he were trying to convince himself.
Beneath the darkened sky, stars hidden from view by the urban lights. It seemed as if even constellations themselves had turned their backs on the Saja Boys.
‘We can’t tell her. It’s not safe. Knowing her, she would try something.’ Beom’s fingers were interlaced in his hair, eyes darting from the floor to the rest of the men.
‘So we just lie to her?’ Min hung his head, ‘You don’t think she’ll find out?’
‘We can worry about that after we make sure Gwi-Ma isn’t going to turn her into a soulless husk.’ Rae countered, shaking his head.
It was a divided consensus.
‘We could ask Huntr/x for help.’ Beom’s brows were furrowed, eyes sharp. ‘If they turn the Honmoon golden, Gwi-Ma won’t be able to-’
‘There’s no guarantee that he doesn’t already have demons tailing Y/N.’ Abel’s eyes were closed, darting around beneath his eyelids, running through different possible scenarios.
‘Abels right. He probably already has demons waiting to drag her back to Gwi-Ma. Our best bet is to-’
A shrill mockup of Soda pop rang out from Jinu’s pocket.
‘Really… that's your ring tone?’ Rae slapped a hand to his forehead. The upbeat popsong had snapped the tension in the air.
‘It’s Y/N…’ Jinu whispered, his face illuminated by the blue glow of his phone.
Abel snatched the phone out of a shell-shocked Jinu’s hand.
‘Y/N? Is that you?’
‘Abel! Of course it's me, why do you sound so … upset?’ The girl pulled the phone away from her ear, looking at the screen making sure she had dialed the right number.
‘Abel, are you with the boys? Can you put me on speaker?’ Y/N brought the phone back to her head, laying in her bed.
‘Yeah, go 'head.’ Abel's voice crackled from her screen.
‘I know you guys won't win tomorrow, but I’m proud of you regardless. You’ve worked hard, regardless of if it was for the right reasons. You’ve pushed past so many boundaries whether it be here on this side of the Honmoon or from before.’ Y/N yawned before continuing.
‘This is a huge decision that you’re making right now and you might be scared, there's a lot on the line for this. Not just you guys, but pretty much the entire world is riding on the Huntr/x girls to seal the Honmoon. They can’t do it without you guys.’
Jinu was shaking, his eyes glassy.
‘You’ve got a big day tomorrow, Saja Boys. Rest up, I’ll see you tomorrow night alright?’ Y/N hummed, before saying one last ‘Goodnight.’
A heavy stillness weighed down on the men. Uncertainty, prodded like a sharp blade, chipping away at their conscience.
‘Jinu, you’re the one who banded us together. You make the decision.’ Min breathed out, his fingers twitching over the pink hair tie around his wrist.
‘I… Y/N’s the reason we’re even able to think about going against Gwi-Ma. If she…’ Jinu faltered, slowly lifting his eyes to his friends.
‘Understood. Our priority is making sure Y/N is safe. We’ll keep our options open. She’s meant to hang around Huntr/x for the Idol Awards, if we manage to get to her, we’ll go through with plan A.’ Abel nodded, standing and reaching out his arm to Jinu.
‘And if she isn’t?’ Beom whispered, slowly rising to his feet.
‘We’ve got Jinu’s song. That would give us enough souls to appease Gwi-Ma.’ Rae replied glumly, coming to stand behind the youngest.
Under the waning light of the crescent moon, the Saja Boys trudged back to their apartment. It was a plan, as messy and unrefined as it could get, but it was there regardless. The irony, that they were now banking on Y/N being around the Huntr/x girls for her safety, was not at all lost on the Saja Boys.
–
Before the sun had risen, Bobby had quietly used his spare key, bringing the Huntr/x girls with him to Y/N’s apartment.
Rumi had six coffees in a drink carrier, one for each of the group and an extra decaf just in case Y/N wanted something different. The purple haired girl walked over to the marble counter top, placing down the drinks and sat down at the table, whispering to Zoey about the difference between the typical American and Korean breakfast.
Zoey had brought an assortment of breakfast ingredients and gravitated towards the kitchen immediately. She had decided that the menu today was pancakes, sunny side up eggs and turkey bacon.
Mira on the other hand, had specifically picked out an outfit for Y/N to wear that would be matching their outfits, but inverted. A white embellished jacket and a black studded top with golden ornaments.
‘Y/N?’ Bobby rapped his knuckles against Y/N’s bedroom door.
‘I’m up!’ Y/N pulled her door open, rubbing her eyes tiredly.
‘Y/N, no eye rubbing. It causes keratoconus.’ Bobby fretted, whilst ushering her into the living room.
‘It’s fine, I’ll pay for whatever treatment anyways.’ Y/N joked.
‘Hm,’ Bobby frowned, his disapproval evident as he crossed his arms.
‘Okay, okay, no more eye rubbing.’ Y/N laughed, elbowing Bobby gently.
‘That's my girl.’ He nodded proudly, before the Huntr/x girls spotted Y/N walking towards them.
‘Y/N!’ The three girls chorused, rushing forward to greet the owner of the apartment.
‘Hey girls, are those pancakes I smell?’ Y/N laughed, wrapping her arounds around the trio.
‘Yep, I'm making you the breakfast I usually like to eat before show days.’ Zoey skipped back towards the pleasantly smelling kitchen.
‘Oh, y’know for some reason I would have expected you guys to have cup ramyeon for breakfast.’ Y/N chuckled, eyeing the drinks on her marbletop.
‘No, of course not!’ Rumi slowly put her shin ramyeon noodles back into her bag, as if not to alert their producer.
‘It’s gonna be a long day, do you want some coffee? We have decaf and regular for you.’ Mira slid over the two drinks.
‘Thanks Mira! Y/N hummed, picking up a large iced drink.
‘Oh, right, I haven’t really picked out what to wear today.’ Y/N sipped on her drink through a paper straw.
‘I picked up an outfit for you.’ Mira supplied easily, rummaging through her bag. ‘Here use this. Paper straws can contain chloropropanols and PFAS chemicals. I bought you a reusable metal straw.’
Y/N gasped, as Mira slid over the small fabric bag.
‘Aww thanks Mira! It has cleaning brushes too!’
‘Of course, only the best for our Y/N-ie.’ Mira’s face was lit by a triumphant smile that she shared with the Huntr/x girls.
‘Okay, now eat up, we’ve still got rehearsals and mic check. The Honmoon has been cracking more lately so we want you to be close at all times.’ Rumi pushed a plate of perfectly cooked pancakes towards Y/N.
Their beloved producer may have said that the Saja Boys were willing to help them, but Rumi, Mira, or Zoey weren’t willing to risk any harm coming to Y/N. Their faith was in her, not the Saja Boys. All three shared a firm nod, silently vowing to keep an eye on their girl.
After Y/N had finished her breakfast, the rest of the morning had been a whirlwind. She barely had time to grab her phone and her essential belongings before Bobby had ushered all four of the girls out so that they could get to the Idol Awards venue early.
Even in the chill of the dawn’s first light, the fans were outside standing respectfully, waiting for their idols to arrive. The three girls had arrived in puffer jackets, waving excitedly to their fans. Y/N had narrowly avoided being dragged onto the carpet with the girls, opting to walk with Bobby instead. She wasn’t quite ready to face the gaggle of paparazzi.
There was a lull between the Huntr/x girls getting their hair and makeup done and the dress rehearsal. It was here that Mira had insisted Y/N sit in a chair and let the pink haired girl do her make up. Y/N had tried to protest but it was to no avail.
‘You’re one of us, whether the world knows yet or not. You’re a hunter too.’ Rumi gave Y/N a back hug, wrapping her arms around Y/N’s shoulder. The purple haired girl relished in watching Y/N’s face smiling back at her in the mirror.
‘Y'know, Y/N sings all our demos. What if we leaked them online and captioned it “Huntr/x’s fourth member?!’ Zoey’s eyes were bright, a mischievous glint that brought Y/N some form of unease.
‘Erm guys, I’m not sure that's a good idea…’ Y/N sweatdropped, ‘I just help write and produce your songs, I mean, I’ve never performed with you guys.’
‘There's a first for everything.’ Mira hummed, enjoying how flustered the girl in the makeup chair was getting.
‘All your songs are three part harmonies.’ Y/N tried.
‘We have an amazing song writer and producer who can change them to four parts in a flash, don’t we girls?’ Rumi pressed her cheek against Y/N’s own, looking into their reflections in the mirror.
Y/N sighed, somewhat amused and at a loss.
Originally, Golden was a song that Rumi was trying to hide behind. Her patterns and heritage were a secret to all. But now, she had her friends by her side, and Golden was a song that truly resonated with her. This gave Y/N hope that this performance tonight would be the one to seal the Honmoon.
‘Girls, time for rehearsal.’ Bobby called from the entrance of the dressing room. ‘Y/N they want you at the audio station.’
To the Huntr/x’s reluctance, they had parted ways for a short while, Y/N heading over to the audio station to make sure all the backing tracks and mics were in check. Fortunately all the click tracks were also in time. All three of the girls on stage sounded perfect and ready to go for the real performance.
For everyone's sake.
It had to be.
–
‘Two bands, one award.’ The show host began, holding up the respective groups light sticks. The large screen was playing a somewhat cheesy introduction.
‘Every snowflake is special. But one snowflake is probably the best. Who will be at the top of the mountain?’ The host continued, holding a CGI spinning snowflake in his palm before switching to a visual of both groups as rock forms on a mountain face.
‘What the hell, I did not remember this.’ Y/N cringed, leaning back in her chair.
‘I think we rock that look.’ Zoey snickered from the sofa of the dressing room.
‘Yeah, the Saja Boys must be petrified right now.’ Mira continued, tossing a gummy worm in her mouth.
‘Fans from around the universe will decide.’ The screen played a glass cracking visual before revealing the logo of the International Idol Awards.
‘Finally, the moment you’ve been waiting for. Here are the five-year reigning champs of the International Idol Awards, Huntr/x!’
How It’s Done began to play, as the Huntr/x symbol appeared on the left side of the screen.
‘Versus the heart-stealing newcomers, the Saja Boys!’ Soda pop interrupted the Huntr/x song, the right side of the screen filled with bubbles and the familiar lion logo.
'More like soul stealing.' Rumi rolled her eyes.
‘Who will win?!’
‘Please, welcome to the stage, Huntr/x!’ The host called, gesturing to the wings.
Y/N blinked, snapping to attention.
‘What, I thought you guys were on later?’ She asked, standing up alongside her friends.
‘We did too.’ Rumi frowned, throwing open the dressing room door, breaking into a sprint.
‘At least we get to seal the Honmoon faster!’ Mira laughed, sprinting alongside the four girls.
‘Wait, why am I running? I’m not performing.’ Y/N deadpanned from her spot next to Rumi.
‘I mean you could!’ Zoey laughed, as they all reached the wings of the stage.
‘Okay. This is it. For the fans.’ Rumi turned, facing the three other girls.
‘For the world.’ Zoey chimed in.
‘For us.’ Mira finished, as they all looked at Y/N.
‘You’ve got this Huntr/x. Get out there and seal that Honmoon!’ Y/N cheered, pumping her fist in the air.
‘Yes! We win this, and then we celebrate with Itaewon corn dogs!’ Bobby cheered, pushing the three girls closer to the stage!
‘Woo! Let's go!' All three girls cheered, giving Y/N a last hug before they turned to run on stage.
The first notes of Golden began to play, the set beginning to change. The entire stadium darkened, the figures of all three girls cast into shadow. Their professionalism was unquestionable.
‘Here to perform their hot new single, Golden, It’s Huntr/x!’ The host introduced, as Golden played through the stage speakers
‘I was a ghost I was alone 어두워진 앞길 속에’ Rumi began, as the spotlight finally lit the stage. A warm golden light, filling the stage, highlighting the group.
Y/N smiled proudly, watching the performance shine. It looked like Rumi’s voice was completely healed. The girls were all running through the choreography with ease, as if it were second nature.
‘Y/N.’ A voice carried toward her, in barely a whisper.
‘Jinu?’ Y/N spoke before she turned, sure of the voice.
‘I lived two lives, tried to play both sides but I couldn’t find my own place.’
Y/N turned, and yet though the person behind her resembled her so called wife, something was wrong. Jinu didn’t have red eyes, his posture was always perfect, not slightly slumped over.
‘Called a problem child 'cause I got too wild
But now that's how I'm getting paid 끝없이 on stage’
Y/N shifted her stance defensively. This man couldn’t be Jinu, not only were his eyes the wrong colour, there was nothing behind them.
No warmth.
‘Who are you.’ The girl snarled, already knowing the answer to her own question.
‘It’s me, Jinu. Come with me, I have something to show you.’ Jinu answered.
Instinct moved Y/N’s body before anything else. Her arms tensed, hands balled into a fist immediately.
Contact between her fist and the look-a-like’s chest threw Jinu backwards.
A grunt of protest rang out from the demon's lips.
‘I'm done hidin', now I'm shinin' like I'm born to be.’
Rumi’s solo was starting. This would mean that Mira and Zoey would come to the back wings. Surely they could help her.
‘We dreamin' hard, we came so far, now I believe.’
‘Just come with me, we won’t hurt you.’ The demon now in its own form, revealed itself, grinning with its glinting red eyes.
‘Make me.’ Y/N smiled, cracking her neck.
‘We're goin' up, up, up, it's our moment
You know together we're glowing
Gonna be, gonna be golden.’
‘Fine.’ The creature snarled, ‘Boys, she wants it done the hard way.’
A group of dokkaebi slowly circled Y/N.
‘Oh crap.’
‘Rumi’s killing it out there!’ Zoey gasped, as the make-up artists quickly touched up her face.
‘Let’s go finish this!’ Mira nodded, patting Zoey back in encouragement.
‘You didn’t say anything about a group of you rats.’ Y/N yelled, double kicking two demons in the chest while avoiding a swipe of claws aimed for her chest.
She narrowly avoided a swipe, meant for her head. The claws of a demon slicing into her cheek.
‘Y/N?’ Mira turned around, spotting the girl, fighting off a group of demons. Without a second thought, they sprinted toward the girl.
‘Alright that's enough.’ The group leader stepped up from behind Y/N and struck her in the back of the head. 'Gwi-Ma said not to kill her yet.'
‘You’re on in twenty seconds!’ The team of staff from behind Zoey and Mira protested.
The two girls rushed toward the group, only to catch a glimpse of Y/N crumpling to the floor, eyes rolling back into her head.
‘Oh, up, up, up with our voices
영원히 깨질 수 없는
Gonna be, gonna be golden’
‘What did you do to our Y/N?’ Zoey screamed, manifesting her Shinkal, throwing them toward the horde of demons.
‘Damn, the hunters are here. Let’s just grab her and go.’ The largest one said, narrowly dodging the knives.
‘Oh, I'm done hidin', now I'm shinin' like I'm born to be
Oh, our time, no fears, no lies
That's who we're born to be.’
The demons lifted up the unconscious body of Y/N and sprinted away from the wings, looking for an exit.
Mira let out a cry of frustration, watching the demons run into the corridors of the venue.
‘You know we're gonna be, gonna be golden
We're gonna be, gonna be-’
‘Rumi!’ Mira’s voice called out from Rumi’s in-ear. ‘They took Y/N. She’s unconscious.’
‘What?’ Rumi landed on the stage, watching the fans' faces melt slowly into confusion as she stopped singing.
‘What do we do Rumi?’ Zoey asked, her voice dripping with desperation.
‘Go after her. I’m coming.’ Rumi turned and abandoned the stage that was still playing Golden. There wasn’t an ounce of doubt behind her decision. In fact, it was barely a choice. Rumi would have picked saving Y/N over sealing the Honmoon on this day a thousand times over.
Shouts of protest rang out throughout the massive crowd, watching their idol run back stage, discarding her performance jacket. Murmurs filtered through out the crowd.
Why was she running away, and what were those patterns across her skin?
‘Where did they take her? Where are you guys?’ Rumi called into her mic, ignoring the staff that were frantically chasing after her, asking what was wrong.
‘They’re headed toward exit C. We’ll meet you there.’ A static filled Rumi’s ear afterward, signalling that both girls had taken out their mics.
‘Hang in there Y/N. We’re coming.’ Rumi whispered, keeping her eyes fixed on the glowing green exit sign, her path lit by the LED light strips.
–
‘They took her. She isn’t backstage anymore.’ Jinu’s eyes were blown wide, in a state of panic. He had watched Mira and Zoey give chase. He had given in to his inner voice, looking for Y/N backstage just to catch a glimpse of her. He had been a second too late.
‘Then we need to move to plan B.’ Abel said grimly, his fists clenching around a now dented plastic water bottle. On his wrist, a pink sparkly hair tie not unlike min's slid down.
‘What was plan B?’ Beom mumbled from his seat on the sofa, not lifting his head from his hands. His wrist adorned a blue matching hairtie.
‘We accept the Idol Of The Year Award, we use that to advertise a concert at midnight at namsan tower. We use the fans to feed Gwi-Ma. Then he gives us Y/N back.’ Rae recited, putting a hand on Beom’s shoulder.
‘We should get on stage now.’ Min stood up from his make up chair, herding the boys towards the door. ‘Keep it together.’
For Y/N. They thought silently.
--
Meanwhile, as the three girls finally exited the venue, barely out of breath.
‘Where do you think they took her? They couldn’t have gone far.’ Mira’s eyes darted around, scanning the crowds of people trickling out of the stadium.
‘The Honmoon! It’s coming apart!’ Zoey stared at the now purple lines, seething away, fizzling at the edges.
‘Due to the Huntr/x publicly abandoning today's stage, the International idol Awards have been canceled.’ A large screen began to play a new broadcast, to the girl’s horror.
‘Here are the winners of the International Idol Awards.’
Bobby finally caught up, panting behind the girls. ‘What's going on?’
‘Y/N was kidnapped. We need to find her. I’m sorry Bobby we couldn’t win today-’
‘She was WHAT?’ Bobby looked frantic, whipping out his phone. ‘Why don’t we call the police.’
‘Artist of the Year, Saja Boys.’ The screen said, as if taunting the group.
‘We’re sorry Bobby.’ Rumi teared up, ‘I know you worked so hard for this.’
‘That’s not important right now. We need to find Y/N. We can win next year. Go find Y/N, I’ll do press control.’
‘Best New Artist, Saja Boys.’ The news reporter read from her script.
‘Bobby…’ Zoey looked conflicted, the three girls slowly backed up toward the gathering crowd.
‘GO!’ Bobby looked up from his phone, his eyes set in determination. ‘Y/N is more important right now. I’ll deal with everything else. Find our Y/N.’
‘We’ll call you Bobby!’ The girls ran, as the screens on the street began to show the Saja Boys.
‘Hey, everybody.’ A remorseful Jinu came from the screen, flanked by the rest of the boys.
‘You must all be so sad about the Idol Awards.’ He continued, placing his hands on his heart. ‘We are too.
‘You lying asshole.’ Rumi sneered, glaring up at the screen.
‘So to cheer everyone up, we’re going to do a special live performance tonight.’
‘Really? Y/N is missing and that’s what they're doing?’ Mira pushed past the hoards of people. They seemed to be hypnotised, all congregating like sheep.
‘Midnight, Namsan Tower. Don’t miss it for the world.’ Jinu’s eyes held a softer look. Almost probing?
‘Wait. “For the world?” Is he…’ Zoey’s eyes flickered to the other two girls.
‘Is he talking to us?’
‘It’s worth a shot. Come on, let's go.’
Running through crowds of people who seemed to be mindlessly heading for Namsan Tower, like moths to a flame. It was harder than it looked, finding their way while keeping an eye out for demons and Y/N. Strangely, none of the public had recognised the Huntr/x girls. They were focused only on the lit up tower, the crowning jewel of the Seoul city sky line.
–
The five boys stood, just behind the Honmoon, infront their stage. Each one drowning in resentment toward the demon lord behind them.
‘Well done. Ready to begin? You know what’s on the line now.’ Gwi-Ma chuckled darkly.
Jinu stayed silent, as the men behind him kept their eyes down, boring into the ground as if that could change something.
‘Good, I’m ready to feast.’ The fire rumbled in amusement. Finally, he had broken-in his toys.
Stalking up beside Jinu, Derpy held one of Y/N’s sparkling in his mouth.
Derpy gave an inquisitive purr, nudging at Jinu with his head.
Jinu glanced down, his eyes catching the glitter on the hair tie. His ears filled with the chanting of their group name, the crowd assembled outside Namsan Tower.
–
‘The stadium’s huge. How will we find her in time?’ Zoey panted, running through the halls that lead to the seating area.
‘I don’t understand. The Saja boys said they wanted us to win. That they wanted to keep Y/N safe.’ Rumi panted, pushing past the mindless fans.
‘Then why did they take her?’
The stadium began to darken, the large screen at the front of the stage that had once displayed the regular Saja Boys icon had changed. The performance was beginning.
‘No.. NO!’ Rumi screamed, roughly pushing past people that took no notice of her panic.
‘Girls!’ A familiar voice called, over the chanting of “Saja”. Bringing a wave of hope into the three Huntr/x girls. ‘Up here!’
All three Huntr/x members' eyes shot up, watching a bruised Y/N dodging and weaving while landing heavy blows on the thinned out group of demons surrounding her.
She was up at the VIP section.
‘Y/N!’ The three girls cried out, immediately climbing up the stands.
‘Get off our Y/N-ie!’ Zoey threw her daggers with such force that they dented the wall, but not before they hit three demons squarely in the back.
‘Y/N, duck!’ Rumi flipped forward, bringing her sword down on the demon that was holding Y/N against a wall.
‘Are you girls alright?’ The producer asked, dropping down to the ground and sweeping out the demon from it’s feet with her leg.
‘You’re asking us if we’re alright? You were kidnapped! You have a cut on your face.’ Mira replied, frustration tinged at her voice as she swung her 곡도 (Curved moon sword), decapitating several demons.
‘I’m fine, just a little banged up.’ Y/N spun around, kicking the last demon in the chest, sending him flying back into Rumi’s sword.
‘Wow, maybe I should join you guys.’ Y/N joked, wiping away the blood, trickling from her cheek.
The three girls gawked in horror, taking in the injured image of their friend. Her jacket was long gone, bruises were red and fresh, littering her arms and legs. Her left cheek had a cut, trailing from her ear till her nose, her knees were beginning to bleed. Y/N slowly sank to her knees, catching her breath.
‘I changed my mind, Y/N you are to never join us in missions. Look at you.’ Rumi hurriedly rushed over to the girl, holding Y/N’s face in her hands.
‘Damn it, we don’t have first aid supplies or ice here. Everything's back at the tower.’ Zoey dropped her weapons, also rushing forward with Mira.
Their flurried conversation was stopped short, as the stage lights dimmed.
The Saja Boys began to harmonise demonically, floating into the air dressed in all black traditional Korean 한복 (hanbok).
‘I can’t believe they would do this to you.’ Rumi shook her head, helping Y/N stand to her feet.
‘It wasn’t them. There was another demon, it looked like Jinu, a shape shifter. The boys would never hurt me. I swear.’ Y/N shook her head, eyes closed in protest of her screaming joints as she moved to stand.
‘I'll be your idol’
‘My song…’ Y/N’s eyes blinked open, looking toward the stage.
‘Keeping you in check (uh), keeping you obsessed
Play me on repeat, 끝없이 in your head
Anytime it hurts, play another verse
I can be your sanctuary’
Abel’s smirk was hollow. Purely a performative expression. Y/N could tell, after spending so much time with him, his default expression was a stoic face with soft eyes. Even when he was performing, his eyes always showed amusement but not right now.
Right now, his eyes were desperate.
Begging even.
‘It’s not them. It has to be Gwi-Ma. He’s making them do this.'
‘Y/N… we-’ Rumi began.
‘No, look! On Min’s wrist!
‘Know I'm the only one right now (now)
I will love you more when it all burns down
More than power, more than gold.’
The purple haired man sang, a pink glittery hair tie on his wrist caught the stage light.
‘That's my hair tie. He’s wearing it on his wrist.’ Y/N pointed at the large screen, clearly displaying Min’s wrist as he brought his hand up to his face.
‘Yeah, you gave me your heart, now I'm here for your soul’
Rae sang, a magenta hair tie adorned his wrist, matching his hair.
'They have actual names?' Mira looked taken aback.
‘They’re all wearing sparkly hair ties on their wrists.’ Zoey pointed out, looking at Y/N, her face dawning in realisation.
‘I'm the only one who'll love your sins
Feel the way my voice gets underneath your skin’
Jinu sang, his eyes trained on the audience in a dead gaze, a fake smile lining his lips.
‘They’re being forced into this. I think Y/N is right. Remember how Jinu said For the world. He wanted us to find him. To help him save Y/N.’ Zoey stood up next to Y/N helping her stand on her other side.
‘How can we be sure?’ Mira was still hesitant, holding on to some resentment.
‘Those are Y/N’s hair ties. She wears them around her wrist for luck. She wore one today. It’s golden.’ Rumi gently took Y/N’s arm, lifting it to show the accessory.
‘Yeah, y’know, for turning the Honmoon golden and everything.’ She smiled tiredly.
‘Listen, 'cause I'm preachin' to the choir
Can I get the mic a little higher?
Gimme your desire’
‘We need a plan. How do we stop this? The Honmoon is fraying as we speak.’ Mira led the way, as the rest of the girls slowly led Y/N back towards the stadium lobby.
‘Do you guys remember What It Sounds Like?’ Y/N said, sitting down slowly on a bench.
‘The song we recorded not too long ago right? Alongside Takedown?’ Zoey nodded, leaping over the counter of an unattended food stall, rummaging through a fridge for some ice.
‘You’re hunters. The Honmoon allows you to project your voices without microphones. I can connect the instrument to the stage speakers, I have an override code for emergencies.’
‘I can be the star you rely on
내 황홀에 취해, you can't look away
Don't you know I'm here to save you?’
‘We’ve never practiced this song. We don’t even have a click track. I’m not sure we can-’
‘Zoey, I know you can do it. You’re hunters. All of you. This is what you’re meant to do. This is how you all shine.’ Y/N stood, accepting the makeshift icepack, letting it rest on her shoulder.
‘Remember? We are hunters, voices strong.’ Y/N sang, her eyes glowing with an inextinguishable fire. In the background, the concert continued, blaring the voices of the Saja Boys.
‘Slaying demons with our song.’ Rumi continued, coming to stand at Y/N’s left, taking her hand.
‘Fix the world and make it right.’ Mira sang quietly, standing in front of Y/N, holding Rumi’s other hand.
‘When darkness finally meets the light.’ Zoey finished, standing on Y/N’s right, holding her and Mira’s hand.
An iridescent glow stemming from the feet of the group, hummed through the purple fraying lines of the Honmoon, replacing the purple fizzing lines.
Beom was rapping now, his voice dripping in hidden disdain.
‘How did we…’ Mira stared in wonder, ‘We changed the colour of the Honmoon?’
‘No, I think Y/N did.’ Zoey stared at the lines. They only radiated a few meters away from the group but they were visibly contrasting. ‘This has never happened to us before.’
‘No, this has to be a different Honmoon. Look, the lines are new.’
‘Y/N you have to sing with us.’ Rumi decided, nodding firmly. ‘You said you changed the patterns of the demons right? You are the weapon, you never needed to manifest one. Your voice, your touch, your presence itself aids the Honmoon.’
‘But I-’
‘We don’t have time. Y/N you’ve always believed in us. Enough to write songs whenever we needed them. Please, believe in us one more time.’
‘Besides, we kinda…’ Mira trailed off, looking sheepish.
‘We didn’t practice so we need you to guide us…’ Zoey rubbed the back of her neck, slightly embarrassed.
‘You guys won’t take no for an answer will you.’ Y/N laughed, her voice almost being lost amongst the screaming fans.
‘No, especially Rumi. She’s been trying to get you to join us forever.’ Zoey gave a soft smile, adjusting the icebag on Y/N’s shoulder.
‘Okay, so what’s the plan? How are we gonna tackle this?’ Mira brought all the girls into a huddle.
‘There's three sides to the centre stage. We’ll each take an entrance. I’ll stand behind Rumi because Gwi-Ma already knows about me and Rumi, it's likely he’ll keep eyes on us.’ Y/N spoke quickly, her nerves buzzing in anticipation.
‘We’ll start from the entrances and end up at center stage so we get the attention of all the fans. Then, once we gather enough souls back, we go for Gwi-Ma.’ Y/N finished, fiddling with her phone.
‘You can get the backing track up? How does that even work?’ Zoey looked impressed.
‘Actually, it’s not that hard. I’ll explain it later. We need to get into position. Everyone knows what to do?’ Y/N looked up, greeted by the expression of pure grit and resolve on all of her friends.
‘Let’s do this.’ Rumi nodded, bringing her hand to the centre of the group.
‘LET’S DO THIS.’ The rest cheered.
–
The boys were now reaching the height of the song, stretching out their arms toward the adoring crowd,
‘Living in your mind now
Too late, 'cause you're mine now’
Their feet began to leave the ground, bringing the screams of the crowd into a crescendo.
‘They can fly?’ Y/N blinked, gaping at the men who were at least two meters in the air.
‘I mean, we can jump out of a plane and not die so…’ Rumi shrugged, looking unimpressed. ‘It’s not that cool.’
‘I mean, do the fans not think this is at least some kind of suspicious?’ Y/N was astounded, trailing behind Rumi, removing her icebag and throwing it in a nearby bin.
‘I will make you free (I will make you free)
When you're all a part of me’
‘Thats… actually a good point.’ Rumi mumbled, looking somewhat miffed. ‘I guess they think it's just special effects right?’
‘Makes sense.’ Y/N nodded, watching the men continue their song.
‘preachin' to the choir
Can I get the mic a little higher?
Gimme your desire
Watch me set your world on fire (world on fire)’
‘Did you write this Y/N?’ Rumi wiped off the residue moisture off Y/N’s shoulder, adjusting Y/N’s matching outfit.
‘Uh, yeah I did.’ Y/N winced, wiping at her cheek quickly. Her hand came back, dripping scarlet.
Rumi sighed, brushing a thumb under the cut tentatively.
‘We’re going to need to disinfect this after.’
‘How’d you know I wrote it?’ Y/N smoothed down Rumi’s hair with her clean hand.
‘내 황홀에 취해, you can't look away (yeah)
No one is coming to save you
Now we runnin' wild’
‘How could I not recognise your writing style?’ Rumi rolled her eyes, a faint blush spreading across her face.
‘Come on, we’ve got a Honmoon to rebuild.’ The purple-haired girl squared her shoulders, leading Y/N by the hand toward the stage entrance.
‘You're down on your knees, I'ma be your idol’
‘Oh…’ Rumi began, her haunting voice echoing through the stadium. Making her way toward the crowd, the fans parting to let her through.
‘We are hunters. Voices strong. Slaying demons with our song.’ Her voice turned dark. Rumi had tapped into her demon voice. The patterns littering her skin glowed violet, her left eye turning yellow.
‘Fix the world and make it right. When darkness finally meets the light.’ Her right fingers grew into claws.
‘You come here like this?’ Gwi-Ma snarked, his cocky tone bleeding into his words.
‘You think you can fix the world? You can’t even fix yourself.’
‘I can’t.’ Rumi agreed, her voice hollow, her eyes were glazed over.
‘And now, everyone sees you for what you really are.’
‘They do.’
‘And now the Honmoon is gone.’ Gwi-Ma was all but sneering now.
‘It is.’ Y/N squeezed her hand.
‘But we can make a new one.’ Rumi’s eyes cleared, her eyes snapping up to the purple hued fire, letting go of Y/N’s hand.
‘Nothing but the truth now
Nothing but the proof of what I am
The worst of what I came from, patterns I'm ashamed of
Things that even I don't understand.’
Zoey’s voice chimed in from the left stage entrance, taking over the melody.
‘I tried to fix it, I tried to fight it
My head was twisted, my heart divided
My lies all collided
I don't know why I didn't trust you to be on my side’
Y/N had changed the lines to be more widespread in terms of distribution. Originally this song came only from Rumi, but now it was for all of them. Rumi was no longer alone.
‘I broke into a million pieces, and I can't go back
But now I'm seeing all the beauty in the broken glass
The scars are part of me, darkness and harmony
My voice without the lies, this is what it sounds like’
Mira sang, as the three slowly walked onto the stage platforms, eyes fixed on each other.
‘Why did I cover up the colors stuck inside my head?’ Zoey sang, her chest beginning to glow.
‘I should've let the jagged edges meet the light instead.’ Mira sang, clutching at her chest with her hand.
‘Show me what’s underneath.’ Rumi sang, gesturing with her hands towards her two group members.
‘I'll find your harmony,’ The three girls harmonised, their chests glowing the faint colour of the old Honmoon.
‘The song we couldn’t write…’
‘This is what it sounds like.’ Y/N stepped onto the stage, joining the song, her voice rippling through the stadium like an autumn breeze.
‘Y/N?’ Min whispered her name like a prayer. The men were frozen in disbelief.
‘WHY IS SHE FREE. I TOLD YOU TO BRING HER TO ME. STOP THIS SONG!’ Gwi-ma howled, sending a swarm of demons, a writhing mass of limbs and disfigured faces.
The sheer intimidating number rumbled the stage as they raced towards the hunters.
‘We're shattering the silence, we're rising, defiant
Shouting in the quiet, "You're not alone" ‘
Y/N sang, as she walked forward, watching Rumi draw her sword.
‘We listened to the demons, we let them get between us
But none of us are out here on our own.’
The four chorused, marching forward toward the demons, Zoey and Mira both drawing their weapons. As they slashed through the first wave of demons, the crowd seemed to regain consciousness as if they had been released from a spell.
‘So we were cowards, so we were liars
So we're not heroes, we're still survivors’
The girls were slashing through the mass of demons, weaving through each of them whilst singing, getting closer to the centre of the stage.
‘The dreamers, the fighters, no lying, I'm tired
But dive in the fire, and I'll be right here by your side.’
Reaching the middle, the group embraced. The three Huntr/x girls wrapped Y/N in a tight hug, causing a ripple through the Honmoon, a glowing of iridescent strings.
Not only had Y/N changed the Honmoon, she had changed Rumi’s skin?
Rumi’s patterns had turned an almost ultra violet white. The group shared a knowing look, before turning to face Gwi-Ma, now ready to advance on their biggest foe.
‘We broke into a million pieces, and we can't go back
But now we're seeing all the beauty in the broken glass.’
Y/N’s eyes caught Jinu’s, she watched his cat like pupils dilate.
‘The scars are part of me, darkness and harmony
My voice without the lies, this is what it sounds like’
Y/N smiled, walking closer towards the front of the stage whilst the Huntr/x girls cleared a path before her.
‘Why did we cover up the colors stuck inside our head?
Get up and let the jagged edges meet the light instead.
Show me what's underneath, I'll find your harmony
Fearless and undefined, this is what it sounds like’
‘Y/N!’ Beom cried out, the first of the group to leave the stage, racing down toward her, throwing his arms around her.
‘Beom, you look good in your 한복 (Hanbok)’ Y/N grinned, patting the youngest on the back.
Y/N closed her eyes, letting out a slight groan.
‘Okay, gentle please, I think I have bruised ribs.’ She complained, as larger, stronger hands held her up by her waist.
‘You’re hurt.’ Abel’s deep voice sounded weak, as if all the air had left his lungs.
‘Hey Abel.’ Y/N laughed, wincing slightly, ‘ S’ not as bad as it looks.’
‘You’re a terrible liar Y/N. You should leave that up to us.’ Rae’s melodic voice chimed in, coming to stand in front of Y/N.
‘We need to get you home as soon as possible. To a hospital even.’ Min fretted, brushing Y/N’s hair back, checking her for injuries.
‘I’m fine Min.’ Y/N laughed, brushing back the oldest man’s hair, revealing teary eyes. ‘Hey now, don't cry.’
‘M not.’
‘Okay honey.’ Y/N smiled, before turning her eyes toward the man who had not yet come down to greet her.
‘Jinu… Won’t you come say hi to your husband?’ She called out, giving him a forlorn smile.
‘Y/N…’ He breathed out in response, body instinctively floating down towards her, ignoring the screams of protest coming from Gwi-Ma.
‘YOU DARE DEFY ME? YOU WERE NOTHING WITHOUT ME.’
‘I don’t deserve to forget.’ He looked onward, hands itching to delicately sweep over the cut on her cheek.
‘There’s my wifey.’ Y/N smiled, sighing in relief as Jinu came to kneel before her.
‘I stole your song…’ His claws cracked the stage as he dug his nails into the floor.
‘Yeah, well as long as you give me royalty fees it's okay.’ Y/N joked, hand lifting Jinu’s chin.
‘Besides, I wrote it for you guys anyways.’
‘Alright, you’ve had a good enough reunion. We need your help to defeat Gwi-Ma.’ Rumi glowered, coming to stand between Y/N and the Saja Boys.
‘We can’t keep just killing the demons he sends at us, we’ll tire out.’ Zoey agreed, throwing her knives into the horde.
Suddenly the mass began to shimmer into petals, their bodies dissipating before everyone’s eyes. The petals were being sucked back into the fire on the main stage.
‘What’s going on.’ Mira narrowed her eyes, swinging her blade into petals.
Gwi-Ma seemed to grow larger, swelling in size as the petals fed his body.
‘You traitor.’ Gwi-ma snarled, ‘Did you really think that I’d let you live? Let your friends live?’ Gwi-ma began to cackle,
‘YOUR VOICES CANNOT DEFEAT ME.’
A split second.
Just one.
Jinu had seen the burst of fire. He had turned around when Gwi-ma began to speak, the flames blaring its way toward him.
He had closed his eyes, accepting the fate that were to befall him, at peace knowing that Y/N would be safe. She would find a way to defeat Gwi-Ma.
But the searing heat did not land.
Only the soft caress of a gentle hand on his cheek.
‘It’s time to go home, Jinu.’ Y/N smiled, the purple flames raging against her back.
‘Y/N, no NO.’ Jinu reached for the girl in front of him, watching her body slowly begin to glow with a white light, steadily consuming her form as Gwi-Ma cackled.
‘Y/N!’ The group cried, to no avail, watching the girl enveloped suddenly in light. They all ran toward her, only to be pushed back by an invisible force.
A deafening WHUM spread through the stadium, as Y/N’s body lifted from the ground, exploding into a searingly blinding light, sending a shockwave of white gold through the strings, across the stadium, one final ripple, sealing the Honmoon. Leaving in her wake, a ripple of iridescent lines.
Hi! Just wanted to say I love your writing so much!!!
Also I’m new to your page and was wondering what the Pethryn au is? I like your Harry Potter stuff and it seems like there is backstory stuff. If there is, is it necessary for me to know it to understand?
Again I love your writing so much, I have trouble finding isekai’ed fanfics let alone good ones. <3
HAHA HEEYY SOOO I began as a writer for Lord of the Rings! And Pethryn means 'narrator' in Sindarin! (Elf language)
SO Pethryn (Y/N) is a person from our world who has been isekaied into different worlds to change the way the story is told! (Meaning she's like SUPER MENTALLY TRAUMATISED LOWKEY) Pethryn is pretty much a self indulgent character. I use her to change things that I wish were different in stories! (like character deaths and such!) Basically Pethryn is a human who's transmitigated into stories! She originates in LOTR and then the hobbit and now most recently in Harry Potter! Hope this helps :3
potentially a strange question, but uh. hi!! i really love your isekaied into the kpdh world fic, and i was wondering if I could have permission to use the "real" names you have for the saja boys for my own fic? ive gotten really attached to them and its kinda hard to see them w any other names now lmao
but if not, thats okay too!! tysm for such a delicious series yayyaya
HAIII I think I answered this before! Here
I don't think my answer has changed but yeah! I think uhh as long as you credit me with the names it should be fine! I kind of made the Saja boys into my own characters so, in a way they are my name's but I can't OWN a name 😂
All in all yes! But if you do please credit me thank you for liking my work and my name's! HAVE FUN WRITING!
Imagine Being Isekai'ed into KPOP DEMON HUNTERS (10)
VERY JINU CENTRIC. OMG GUYS WE'RE ALMOST AT THE END RAAAAAHHHH ALOS IF U DONT LIKE FRIED CHCIKEN, BREAD EGG AND BEER IM SORRY, THIS CHAPTER MENTIONS EATING THEM (please don't hate me ehehe)

The Huntr/x girls had asked Y/N to come see their rehearsal for the Idol Awards in the morning. She had woken up feeling completely refreshed at the literal crack of dawn (five am) when she got the text.
Of course the Huntr/x girls were already up. Y/N remarked in her head, swinging her legs off the bed. They were a hard working bunch of girls backed up by an immense amount of talent. They deserved as much as they already had and more.
The Saja Boys had already been back in her apartment, lounging around as if they owned the place. Which in their mind, they had already seemingly established that Y/N was theirs so, in a way, they weren’t wrong.
‘Guy, I gotta go watch the girls practice Takedown.’ Y/N called out, pulling a new sweater over her head. It had appeared in her closet two days ago. It looked new but it smelt like it had been freshly washed.
‘That’s the song about us right?’ Beom looked amused, lifting his head to admire Y/N wearing the sweater he had bought for her. Was it weird that he hadn't told her? He hadn't courted anyone even back when he was human. Surely if Y/N wore the sweater then it was okay.
The blue haired man drifted into a cloud of thoughts, each being Y/N-centric.
‘Yeah doesn’t it say something about, “When your patterns start to show it makes the hatred wanna grow outta my veins.” Did you come up with that line?’ Min raised an eyebrow, hair pulled back by one of Y/N’s pink sparkly hair ties. She had given it to him a couple of days ago, when he kept stealing Y/Ns ones.
‘No, actually Zoey came up with it! She’s amazing at writing isn’t she?’ Y’/N exclaimed, pulling on her sneakers, not bothering to untie the laces.
‘Hm, sounds like they don’t really like sharing, huh?’ Jinu noted, handing Y/N a cling wrapped egg sandwich. Y/N took the food, thanking him quietly with a warm grin.
‘Make sure you eat that before it gets cold. Breakfast is important.’ Jinu called out, as the elevator doors began to shut.
‘Nice apron Jinu!’ Y/N chuckled, her face disappearing behind the elevator doors.
‘It’s yours.’ Jinu protested, crossing his arms over his white ruffled apron clad chest, as Y/N’s descent had already begun.
Y/N had popped by the convenience store, picking up some triangle kimbap for the girls, tuna, salmon and kimchi. Three of each, just to be sure. The girls had insisted that she didn't walk the whole way, asking for her location. It’d been a short walk to the convenience store, a hired car appearing outside the store,, whisking her away to the stadium.
Takedown was being played on mini speakers, the song inter-mixing with the squeaking of sneakers on the stage. Each movement was precise, all three huntr/x girls dancing in unison. Not a single mistake was being made both in the choreography and the singing.
‘Wow girls, that was amazing!’ Y/N called out, as Zoey, Mira and Rumi landed in their final pose. ‘Hey Bobby!’
‘Hey Y/N!’ Bobby smiled, waving at the girl who was approaching with shopping bags. ‘Watcha got there?’
‘Well, I knew you’d bring snacks, but I brought you some too! Actually I think I brought too much.’ Y/N lifted her bags, looking slightly embarrassed.
‘Y/N!’ Rumi cried out, throwing her arms over their producer.
‘You’re here!’ Zoey called out, tossing away her notebook and walking over.
‘I smell carbs.’ Mira muttered, drawn in by the smell of convenience store kimbap.
‘Alright girls settle down! There's enough food to go around.’ Bobby joked, adding, ‘And enough Y/N too.’
‘I disagree. I think those Saja brats should just quit. They don’t deserve our Y/N’ Zoey frowned, angrily ripping off the plastic covering of her triangle kimbap. She quickly finished the first one and began digging around the plastic bag for another.
‘I think they’re performing tomorrow?’ Y/N mused, opening a packet of crisps that she thought were interesting. Turtle chips, corn flavoured? She popped one in her mouth tentatively.
‘We’re competing against them tomorrow. For the International Idol Awards.’ Mira took a bite out of her food, glaring at it as if the kimbap had somehow done her an injustice.
‘Y/N, we need to talk…’ Rumi sighed, looking down, her food was untouched, hands fidgeting.
‘Girls! I’ve got to go handle a quick meeting about tomorrow. Call me if you need me!’ Bobby interrupted, typing away furiously at his phone before picking up a call.
‘No, they are not sharing more screen time with the Saja bros.’ Bobby yelled angrily. ‘Okay fine the Saja Boys, I don’t care what they’re called, they can get their own screen time. Fix this!’ His voice faded away.
‘Y/N, the tears in the Honmoon. They’ve gotten bigger.’ Zoey began, her shadowed eyes met Y/N’s ones.
She hadn’t noticed before, but now she could see it. They were tired, no, exhausted. Under the makeup they were wearing, they had eyebags and hints of scratches littering their faces. Mira had a bandage on her ankle and Rumi had been avoiding weight on her left ankle the entire time they were dancing. Zoey herself was hardly keeping herself awake.
‘The Saja Boys are demons right? I think…’ Zoey began, looking reluctant. Her hesitance stemmed from knowing that Y/N had some sort of a relationship with those boys. However, the number of missing people had been rising steadily. They couldn’t ignore it anymore, it was a problem.
‘We have to kill them.’ Rumi said firmly, hands gripping the edge of the stage they were sitting on.
‘We can’t let them take all these people’s souls Y/N. The rips, they’re because those demons are stealing our fans.’ Mira finished her third kimbap, crunching the plastic into a ball with her hands.
‘Wait.’ Y/N clumsily slid off the stage, turning to face the girls. ‘What if I told you that I could help. I think I could convince the Saja Boys to sit out the International Idol Awards or at least lose.’
‘If they sit out, that would mean that our performance could turn the Honmoon golden.’ Zoey’s eyes narrowed, her chin between her thumb and index finger.
‘You could do that?’ Mira squinted. The idea of demons helping the hunters felt abstract. It wasn’t an idea that the girls had really ever entertained or even had in general. Not only were the Saja Boys the reason the Honmoon was failing. These demons were also the reason Y/N had to share her time.
‘I think I can…’ Y/N stared at her hands.
‘You know how you guys have your weapons? I think I do something similar.’ She looked up, her eyes wide and pleading.
‘What do you mean?’ Rumi, walked over to the girl, gently tugging her back toward the stage’s steps.
‘Well, I’m not completely sure but… Recently, the boys, I’ve changed their patterns. Some of them don’t communicate with Gwi-ma anymore. In fact, they can’t.’ Y/N looked up at Rumi, their eyes meeting. Rumi frowned slightly, as if something was on her mind.
‘Wait, Rumi, haven’t your patterns been getting lighter?’ Zoey spoke up, suddenly remembering.
‘That's right, I thought I was seeing things but you also think so too?’ Rumi spun around excitedly.
‘No, they’re one hundred percent getting lighter. They’re still purple and spreading but they look fainter somehow.’ Mira stood, heading toward Rumi placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.
‘I think-’ Y/N began, before a faint WHUM was heard, a glint of red trickling through strings of the Honmoon.
All four girls snapped to attention, eyes pin pointing in a direction far off in the distance.
‘Y/N, you go talk to them. Don’t follow us. You still don’t have a weapon and you could get hurt.’ Rumi traced her delicate fingers over the strings, manifesting her Sain-geom, the sword glowing white blue.
‘We’ll see you tomorrow Y/N.’ Zoey’s eyes hardened, still glaring off at where the tear in the Honmoon was.
‘Let us know if the Saja Boys give you any trouble. You know where to find us.’ Mira nodded, placed a quick hand on Y/N’s cheek, brushing a thumb over it.
‘Stay safe Y/N/N’ Rumi whispered, pulling the girl into a hug quickly before turning to signal at the girls.
‘Call me when you’re finished!’ Y/N called out to the girls who were already running out of the stadium, easily leaping over the thousands of chairs, making their way to the roof of the stadium. From afar, she could see the Huntr/x girls give her a thumbs up before finally leaping out of sight.
A loud chirp sounded from her right.
‘What the… Oh it’s you. Sussie right?’ Y/N hummed, as the six eyed magpie flew over to sit on her shoulder. It was wearing the signature 갓 (hat) that was made for Derpy.
‘Did Jinu send you?’ Y/N laughed, gathering the items left behind and packing everything away neatly. Sussie gave a non committal chirp, sounding almost bored. With a fond smile, she raised a to scratch the bird's neck.
‘Is Derpy with you?’ She asked, walking toward the exit of the stadium, patting her pockets, making sure she had everything with her.
‘Nah, Derpy found a potted plant on your balcony and can’t stop playing with it.’ A familiar, distinct voice called out from behind her.
‘Jinu?’ Y/N spun around quickly, causing the bird on her shoulder to ruffle its feathers slightly.
‘Hey there, I’m here to pick you up from work.’ Jinu smiled, leaning against the stage in casual clothing. He was wearing a similar sweater to Y/N, but in a cream white colour. Over it, he was wearing a black leather jacket.
‘Well aren’t you the perfect wife?’ Y/N laughed, walking backwards with her hands clasped behind her back. At this point, it wasn’t as surprising when the Saja Boys would show up out of nowhere. She was pretty sure they could teleport whenever they wanted to go.
‘Yes, yes I am.’ The demon gave a smile, his face partially lit by the setting sun. His skin glowed almost golden in the light, his eyes weren’t his usual black colour.
‘Wow, your eyes are glowing.’ Y/N blinked, surprised by the yellow colour that Jinu usually kept hidden. They were almost a shimmering golden.
‘Oh, sorry. Got too comfortable.’ Jinu winced, bringing a hasty hand to cover his eyes, eyebrows drawn together as he turned away.
‘No, it looks good!.’ Y/N flashed a carefree smile, walking forward and reaching to tug at Jinu’s sleeve gently.
‘You have nice eyes.’
Jinu’s ears turned pink, going unnoticed by Y/N who had already let go and turned around to continue her way out of the stadium. She turned back to face the spot where Jinu was still standing, frozen in place.
‘You coming?’ Y/N called out, ‘Let’s walk home. I wanna watch the sunset.’
‘Coming!’ The man replied, speed walking to the exit, the setting sun casting a halo around Y/N’s silhouette.
–
Tipping below the horizon, the shadows grew long as the light grew dimmer. Luckily, it wasn’t winter so the weather was still bearable. The wind did not yet have a bitter bite to it. A comfortable silence fell between the two, as they walked through the back alleys of the bustling city streets, avoiding the street vendors and people of all ages. Y/N had momentarily forgotten that technically Jinu, as far as the rest of the world was concerned, was a new rising popstar. If they had taken the usual routes, he would probably be recognised and swarmed by a mob of rabid fans.
‘Hey Jinu? Have you ever thought about what you’d be right now? If you weren’t a demon. Imagine you were just human, living now, in the twenty-first century. What would you wanna be doing?’ Y/N asked, breaking the comforting silence.
‘What am I to you right now?’ Jinu asked, sounding slightly winded by the question.
‘Hm, well, I think you guys are pretty much my roommates now. You basically live in my apartment, you cook and do all my basic house chores while I literally drown myself in work. I guess you’re either my roommates or my stay at home husbands.’ Y/N laughed, covering her bottom lip with her fist.
‘Then that’s what I’d want to be. Without the demon part of me. I’d want to be how we are right now.’ Jinu whispered, placing his jacket over Y/N’s shoulders. His jacket smelt woodsy but clean. Yet, there was a floral hint at the collar.
‘Jinu?’ Y/N raised an eyebrow.
‘Yeah?’ The man replied, gently pulling the jacket around Y/N’s shoulders firmly. The sun had kissed goodbye to the horizon. Jinu’s face was only slightly lit by the waning licks of streetlights.
‘Have you been using my shampoo.’ Y/N tilted her head, finally realising that she had been running out of her soaps more often than usual. The jacket around her had the same faint scent of her shampoo.
Jinu let out a snort, bringing a hand to cover his mouth as he broke into a fit of laughter.
‘You are the most dense girl I have ever met.’ Jinu wiped a tear from his eye, his face flushing red from the amount of laughing he had done.
‘Hey, I don’t keep track of the soaps I use, okay? I just know I gotta buy them once a month and if they’re on sale.’ Y/N huffed, walking away feeling a slight heat in her chest. A heat that she wasn’t sure yet was because she was embarrassed or…
Something else?
‘Aw, don’t be mad my dear husband. Come, we’re almost home.’ Jinu said, his voice slowly catching up to Y/N, as he sped up to walk alongside her.
‘What would you like for dinner?’ He grinned, hoping to appease her through the promise of food.
‘Such a demanding princess you are.’ Jinu smirked, poking Y/N’s cheek softly.
‘No, no Jinu, you’re the princess, I’m the prince. That’s how our whole relationship works, remember?’ The girl nudged Jinu gently with her hip, attempting to catch the man slightly off guard.
‘Alright my prince charming. Fried chicken for dinner it is. I’ll text the boys and have them place an order.’ Jinu laughed quietly, not at all budging from Y/N’s playful shove.
‘Holy crap, you’re as solid as Abel.’ Y/N mumbled, trying to push him backwards slightly.
Something was different about Jinu though. About all the Saja Boys, but she hadn’t noticed until now.
He was warm, but there was no heart beat. It wasn’t a surprise but it was somewhat jarring that he was somehow still radiating heat. Y/N kept her hand on Jinu’s chest, out of pure scientific curiosity.
‘Watch where you’re putting your hands Y/N. I’m only just a man.’ Jinu’s ears were red again, he gently took Y/N’s wrist in a firm grip.
‘S- sorry.’ Y/N felt a rush of warmth creep up her neck. She hadn’t meant to keep her hand there for longer than a couple seconds. Y/N quickly lowered her hand, Jinu's grip still lingering on her wrist.
‘I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable.’
‘I think you misunderstand Y/N.’ Jinu pulled Y/N closer, tugging her by the wrist gently.
‘I’m saying it for your benefit. Not mine.’ Jinu leaned in, his yellow eyes locked on Y/N’s.
Wordlessly, a mutual understanding began to form. As if a lightbulb had suddenly begun to flicker on.
‘Jinu…’ Y/N whispered, feeling Jinu’s grip slacken. Y/N watched Jinu's eyes closed as he began to step back, almost as if he were relenting. Almost as if on instinct, her hand gripped onto his shirt, creasing it slightly.
Jinu, in turn, fluttered his eyes back open, stunned.
Warmth.
Warmth, flowing from Y/N’s hand into Jinu’s body, sending sparks onto a dead hearth that had been suffocated.
And yet, in this one moment, a look? A touch?
No.
It was Y/N.
Y/N alone, had rekindled a flame to burn in Jinu’s still chest.
In the place of a beating heart, was the flame that Y/N had reignited.
The flame of unwavering hope.
‘Jinu, I… I need to talk to you about something.’ Y/N began, her hand still clutching at Jinu’s shirt, hand trembling slightly.
‘Yes?’ He breathed, as if speaking too loudly would shatter the reality of the moment.
‘It’s more of a favour.’ Y/N winced, faltering under Jinu’s gaze. His eyes were ablaze with emotion.
‘Ask me.’ Jinu hummed, smiling that same forlorn smile that was reserved solely for Y/N.
‘Tomorrow, at the international Idol awards. You need to lose to Huntr/x. If the Saja Boys lose, Huntr/x will seal the Honmoon. You’d be on this side.’ Y/N rambled nervously, before taking a deep breath to calm herself down.
‘You’d be here, on this side with me. All of you.’ She finished, watching Jinu’s gaze change into wonder.
‘Wait, if they seal it that would also mean my connection with Gwi-ma would be cut off. We would be free.’ Jinu said, under his breath as if he himself couldn’t believe the words he was saying.
‘You could stay in the overworld. Think about it! You, Abel, Beom, Rae and Min would all be able to stay here. You could…’ Y/N paused, searching for the right words.
‘We could stay with you’ Jinu finished, raising his other hand shakily, to cup Y/n’s face delicately.
‘Mhm, that's right.’ Y/N agreed, nodding in Jinu’s hold.
‘Holy crap, how did I not think about this at all? I mean, am I stupid or something?’ Jinu shook his head, looking amused and frustrated at himself.
Releasing Jinu’s shirt, Y/N took a step back, bringing her hand instead to grip at Jinu’s wrist.
‘Don’t worry about it. I just happen to be a genius is all.’ Y/N joked, tugging him forward in the direction of home.
‘Yeah, we’ll go with that.’ Jinu remarked sarcastically, allowing himself to be tugged along.
‘Beom is asking what flavour chicken you want. You gotta pick one Y/N/N.’ He scrolled through his phone, checking the spam messages sent by Beom.
‘Oh, uhhh I mean are you guys eating as well? If so, it’d make sense for us to get half of everything. Abel can have an entire chicken on his own I think.’ Y/N frowned, counting off on her fingers to estimate how much chicken they should get.
‘You’re probably right.’ Jinu agreed, typing out a response easily. ‘They said it’d take about fifteen minutes. About the same time as it’ll take for us to get home.’
‘Perfect! I’m kinda hungry. I didn’t have much of the snacks I bought.’ Y/N wrinkled her nose.
‘Oh, right. We were planning a surprise dedicated performance for you. But I guess, we won’t be doing that anymore.’ Jinu sighed, rubbing a hand over his forehead.
‘We even had a whole speech written and memorised.’ He whined, bringing both hands to cover his face. 'Ugh, this is so dumb.’
‘Aw, y’know you can still perform it for me after the Idol Awards!’ Y/N laughed, patting Jinu on the shoulder.
‘Then we’d have to practice again in our own apartment tonight. I wanna keep it a surprise.’ Jinu perked up, pulling out his phone again to text again to the rest of the boys.
‘Alright, you guys can go after dinner! I’ll clean up and you guys can go practice.’ Y/N declared, skipping her way toward a familiar neighbourhood.
‘It’s just take-away, what would you have to clean up?’ JInu raised an eyebrow, following along.
–
Dinner, of course, had been rowdy. When they had finally made it up, the Saja Boys had sent knowing looks at Jinu, each boy giving a warm smile.
Y/N on the other hand, was preoccupied by the smell of fried chicken in her kitchen and darted toward the recently delivered chicken. She could tell it was fresh by the way there was steam still wafting from the food.
‘So, you finally admit you like her?’ Min teased, sliding up to Jinu along with Rae, as the rest of the boys walked towards the kitchen.
‘I… You both like her too.’ Jinu deflected, crossing his arms with a pouty demeanour.
‘Ah hah! You said too. So you do admit it.’ Min snickered, placing his hands on Jinu’s shoulders, pushing him towards the kitchen from behind.
‘Don’t worry Jinu, we all have the same taste so we knew it was only a matter of time.’ Rae laughed, playfully elbowing the shorter man.
‘Whatever, you guys shoulda known when I started cooking for her that I liked her.’ Jinu’s neck was starting to flush a pretty shade of pink.
‘Oh, trust me Jinu. We knew.’ Rae smirked, slinging an arm over Jinu’s shoulders.
Abel and Beom had already begun plating a piece of each flavoured chicken on plates, eagerly distributing a plate for Y/N first. A comfortable chatter filled the penthouse, accompanied by the smell of beer and chicken. The perfect way to spend the pre-show night, preparing for what lay ahead.
But all too soon, the chicken was finished and all the dishes had been washed, courtesy of Min. The trash had been taken out and the table wiped. Y/N had already begun yawning, seeing as she had woken up when the sun had first begun to show on the horizon. The boys had reluctantly said their goodbyes as Y/N finally finished her nightly routine and changed into pyjamas.
–
‘So, there's been a change of plans guys.’ Jinu spoke up, as the group walked to their apartment complex interrupting the small talk between the rest of the men.
‘We’re going to let Huntr/x win the Idol Awards.’
‘What? You’re kidding right?’ Beom immediately protested, looking as if he had been personally offended.
‘Why on earth would we let them win. We want Y/N to be cheering our name.’ Rae agreed, running a hand through his hair, the pink hair tie from Y/N on his wrist, catching the street light.
‘Hold on, I think Jinu has a plan. Let’s just hear him out, yeah?’ Abel’s serious tone shut down the protests quickly. It wasn’t like him to display a commanding tone but the boys knew. When Abel was paying attention, it was most likely for a good reason.
‘Thats right. Y/N and I talked about it. If we help the hunters seal the Honmoon, we’d be on this side with her. Gwi-ma and the others will be stuck on the other side.’ Jinu’s eyes were alight with passion, his tone completely animated.
‘We could be-’ Jinu began before being interrupted.
Dark whispers began to fill the mans ears.
All of the men.
Abel's alarmed eyes caught Jinu's own ones as their patterns suddenly began to litter across their skin in their original vile purple colour.
Jinu groaned, slamming back first into the concrete floors of the underworld.
‘Damn it.’ He groaned, rolling over onto his side, using his elbows to support himself.
Souls were flying overhead, like a meteorite shower, dancing across the sky flickering a haunting blue.
Jinu pulled himself to his feet, gazing around at the horde of demons below him.
Wait, why were his friends right behind him? Hadn’t they stopped being able to hear Gwi-ma? They weren't pulled back last time. What just happened?
Each of the men looked confused, their bodies hunched into defensive positions.
‘What’s with the long faces? Everything’s going to plan. Look at all these souls, huh?’ Jinu pointed at the sky, doing his best to diffuse the situation. Surely nothing was wrong. This was just a routine check in.
‘Turn around.’ A demon with the Saja Boys light stick whispered, gesturing with his claw.
Jinu froze, the hairs on the back of his neck prickled.
‘That’s funny. Is that wench, the reason I lost control of your friends?’ Gwi-ma snarled, his purple flames blazing like a scorched mass. ‘Do you think that she can save you?’
‘What wench? What are you talking about?’ Jinu asked steadily, his emotions in a frenzy. His instincts were howling at him to take his friends and run.
‘One of the little demons I sent into the overworld has reported back to me. He says that there’s a girl that you’ve been keeping around.’ Gwi-ma’s voice sounded amused, as if he knew of the situation. As if he already had a plan in place.
‘He also told me your friends were very much alive. It took me quite a bit of effort, but I guess you’re all alive after all hmm?’ Gwi-ma’s faux tone of patience was stifling, like the calm before the storm.
‘She’s a means to an end. Once we take down Huntr/x, we’ll cast her away too. She’s just a lowly writer, she isn’t a threat.’ Min spoke up, his voice held fast, his heart screaming in protest. The easy lie seared his tongue like acid as he said it.
‘Oh, is that so?’ Gwi-ma chuckled darkly, flames flickering brighter if that were even possible. He began to address Jinu instead.
‘Listen here Jinu, I know you. I know you’re nothing but a selfish man who does things for his own gain.’
Jinu’s stomach churned for the first time in four hundred years.
‘I’m not-’
‘Ah ah. That wasn’t a question, Jinu. So, in order to guarantee my freedom. I have a new offer for you. For all of you.’ Gwi-ma’s tone was borderline sinister, hostile even.
‘If you free me and destroy the Honmoon. I’ll erase your memories and as a bonus… I’ll let your little friend live.’
‘She isn't-’
‘But if you fail.’ Gwi-ma’s voice had lost its playfulness, now with an edge of malice.
‘I will make it my personal vendetta, to take her soul, make her into an empty husk and you all will look at her for the rest of your life knowing she cannot feel or remember anything because you failed.’ The entire underworld was silent, the crackling of Gwi-ma’s fire filling the air. It wasn’t the display of cruelty that brought them to silence. It was the fact that Y/N’s safety was on the line.
‘Am I clear?’ The demon king asked the group of horror-struck men.
No, they couldn’t. Turning the Honmoon golden, wasn’t worth losing Y/N. Nothing in the world was worth losing her.
‘Crystal.’ Jinu replied, trembling with fury.
‘Good. Remember boys, I’m always watching.’ The fire rumbled a cackle, sending the boys rushing back into the ground.
The boys, thrown back onto the overworld unceremoniously, each wearing a different expression between rage and terror.
Min was gasping, clutching at his forehead with one hand.
Abel’s face was a stone mask, reminiscent of the same expression he wore as he slaughtered hundreds of men on the battlefield, several hundred years ago.
Beom’s eyes were wide, sweat dripping down his face as he watched Rae dry heave on the pavement.

The days following that were gruelling.
The idol awards were fast approaching and Y/N had spent the week buried in work for What It Sounds Like. Takedown was supposed to be released in two days, during the Idol awards along with What It Sounds Like.
The song required much more work than the other tracks she had previously worked on, from creating MIDI tracks to timing vocals and tuning harmonies. Everything was meshing together, creating a splitting pain in her head.
Just as Huntr/x was busy, the Saja Boys were also busy. Their influence spread faster than the black plague in the thirteenth century. Edits were being made, dance covers and even ships between the boys. (Y/N was blissfully unaware of the fact that there were a plethora of them shipping her with each of the boys, due to her permanent working status.)
The sheer complexity of layering, and the realisation that she didn’t have access to a crowd’s cheers, created a intricacy that Y/N was struggling to recreate.
‘Girls, I’m sorry. I don’t think I can get What It Sounds Like out in time with Takedown.’ Y/N said, pressing her palm against her forehead, feeling a dull ache.
‘That’s okay! We’re already winning so many awards with Golden!’ Rumi said cheerfully, voice crackling through the speaker.
‘I’m so sorry Rumi. Zoey and Mira too, I’m sorry to have let you down.’ Y/N closed her eyes, sitting down at her kitchen counter. She slumped over as the phone on the other end was passed to someone else.
‘No, it’s okay Y/N/N! Please don’t overwork yourself!.’ Zoey’s voice filtered through the noise of the dressing rooms. They had just finished taping another awards show where this time, they had taken a win from the Saja Boys.
‘That’s right Y/N. We care about you more than a performance. Do you need us to do anything? Re-record lines? Get you some food?’ Mira’s tone was calm but laced with an almost undetectable hint of concern. The girls were so sweet, she didn’t know how but, it seemed as if they were closer than before Y/N had transmitigated into this world into this character.
‘I’m alright Mira I promise.’ Y/N laughed, somewhat enjoying the girls fussing over her. ‘You guys did everything perfectly, there's just things I don't think I’ve gotten right so far. I just need a little more time.’
‘Alright, if you say so.’ Mira relented, with a soft breath. ‘But call us if you need anything okay?’
‘You got it Mira!’
The girls had said goodbye in union just as the elevator doors opened, revealing a mildly annoyed group of men.
‘Ugh, did you see the look those hunters gave us when they won?’ Beom grouched, taking off his shoes, placing them neatly on the shelf before running over to collapse on the sofa.
‘Welcome back guys.’ Y/N said, sprawling over her own marble counter top, her voice weak. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to eat or drink that day. It was just that she had completely forgotten due to the immense stress she had placed herself under. Unintentionally, work had come before anything else.
‘Did you work all day again Y/N?’ Jinu asked, his voice was similar to a wife’s soft, scolding tone.
‘I’m sorry honey, I’ll do better next time.’ Y/N mumbled into the crook of her arm sarcastically.
Jinu’s face flushed a bright red, as four glares found their way to his back.
‘Uhh…’ Jinu fumbled, walking over to the kitchen with a red neck.
Suddenly a voice from the television filled the comfortable silence, cutting through the entire apartment.
‘Hey, everybody.’ Rae’s voice began.
‘Our fan club just hit fifty million fans!’ Abel continued before Rae took over again.
‘We have to give a shout out to Huntr/x! We couldn’t have done it without their support.’
‘And to our fans?’ Min interjected, voice low and almost menacing, ‘Thank you, we really feed off your energy.
Y/N frowned, lifted her head as the boys hurriedly switched to another channel.
‘In other news, the amount of missing reports have tripled in the last twenty four hours.’ The news lady said, just before the boys shut off the television hurriedly.
‘What?’ Y/N said, tone eerily calm, eyes narrowing.
‘Um…’ Beom winced, looking at Jinu.
‘Abel. You promised me.’ Y/N said in a flat tone, nails digging into her palms hard. Her eyes were fixated on Abel’s face, painted with shame. His orange-brown eyes refused to meet Y/N’s. Abel could feel the sheer intensity of Y/N’s gaze, burning a hole into his side profile.
‘Darlin’ we aren’t the ones-’
‘I don’t wanna hear it. I’m going out. Don’t follow me.’ Y/N grabbed her keys off the table, pulling on her shoes and storming out of her apartment.
Abel was right, he had promised he would try his best. He also did say he himself wouldn’t take any souls, and in that aspect, she knew that was true. Yet, hearing his explanation wouldn’t make her feel better.
But, here she was, hoping that somehow, she would’ve made a difference. That she somehow had made it better, made a change.
A familiar rumble came from Y/N’s side. Derpy had appeared from a portal again, from the elevator floor.
‘I guess you can come with me.’ Y/N sighed, unable to resist the warm hearted nature of the blue tiger.
Derpy gave a happy grumble. Bumping their head against Y/N’s hand, prompting her to give Derpy it’s head pats as they exited the elevator doors. The sun already had begun to dip below the horizon, strangely enough the awards show was filmed during the day.
‘Y/N…’ A voice called from behind her, wary and soft.
‘What do you want, Rae?’ Y/N stood still, her back still turned to the tallest group member. She had only made it about ten meters away from the complex. Derpy circled Y/N, rubbing its tail along her back reassuringly.
‘You left without a jacket again.’ Rae’s voice was closer now, right behind her in fact. A toasty large jacket being placed over her shoulders. It smelt just like him, a warm, sweet, and elegant scent.
‘I don’t want to talk right now.’
‘Okay.’ Rae fell into step beside her, staying silent as he matched Y/N’s stride.
Y/N walked aimlessly, strolling until she found a park, abandoned for the day in the setting sun.
Derpy trotted happily along, pouncing at pigeons along the way.
Entering the ungated park, she made her way towards a swing set, sitting down on the left side, resting her head in her hands. Between her fingers, she could see the tips of white and yellow sneakers in front of her.
‘Rae…’ Y/N sighed, letting her hands fall limply to her sides.
‘Yes Y/N?’ He whispered back, bending a knee, gently lifting Y/N’s chin slowly.
‘I didn’t change your mind at all did I?’
‘No, of course you did. Y/N you’re so much more important than getting souls back to-’ Rae groaned, pain flashing across his face, stumbling backwards quickly. Derpy looked up from the potted plant it was messing with, eyes blinking unevenly.
‘Rae?!’ Y/N stood quickly in alarm. ‘Are you okay?’
‘Yeah, ‘m fine Y/N/N, Gwi-ma just didn’t like what I was feeling.’ Rae gave a weak smile, waving off her worries with a shaky hand.
‘Rae…’ Y/N stepped forward, fingers twitching, aching to check on the wincing man in front of her.
‘I’m fine, don’t worry.’ Rae flashed an unconvincing smile, beautiful nonetheless.
‘Is Gwi-ma still…’ Y/N trailed off, her gaze was wavering, filled with tears. She wasn’t one to cry normally, however today proved to be filled with emotions. Derpy gave an unhappy grumble, walking over to lay it’s large head on Y/N’s lap from the side.
Frustration.
Anger.
Disappointment.
Self-doubt.
All the emotions had reached a boiling point, now bubbling over. The entire situation felt like it was slipping out of her hands, like grains of sand trickling through her grasp. Y/N was sure that she had been placed here to fix things.
But if that were true, why did it feel like nothing was changing? As if she had done nothing to change the contents of the movie? Like nothing she did mattered.
‘Y/N.’ Rae’s hands gently cupped the girl’s face, brushing a cautious thumb over her cheeks bringing the girl out of her spiral. ‘Tell me what you’re thinking.’
‘I just… I wanted to help.’ Y/N whispered, gazing into Rae’s searching, lavender eyes. ‘I thought that somehow I could make it so that you guys could be free.’
A single tear dripped onto Rae’s skin, as he brushed it away with his thumb.
‘Oh sweetheart. You don’t see it do you?’ Rae gently led her by the hand, walking back toward Y/N’s apartment.
Derpy happily followed, remembering the way back home. The tiger disappeared slowly, sinking into a portal. Blinking it’s goodbye, knowing that the two would soon follow.
‘You’ve changed so much. Jinu is cooking, Beom has empathy. Min actually puts up his hair at home and you’ve got Abel, completely wrapped around your finger. None of us have even thought about taking souls ever since meeting you.’
Y/N stared at the back of Rae, as he spoke, watching the way he kept his shoulders more relaxed than they used to be.
'Well, other than yours in the beginning.' Rae gave a quiet laugh.
‘And you?’ Y/N asked, voice almost getting lost in the gentle breeze.
‘Me?’ Rae paused, turning around slowly, Y/N’s wrist still in his hand.
‘You make me believe that there’s hope, that maybe one day, we can be normal again.’ Rae’s eyes flashed gold, his purple patterns glossing over his skin for a moment.
‘Or as normal as a demon can be.’ He smiled ruefully, going to turn back around.
‘Rae listen-’ Y/N reached forward, placing a hand over the man’s hand.
A fluorescence of colours, emitting from her fingertips, dancing across Rae’s skin, turning his patterns a bright white blue for a second before his human visage flashed back into view.
‘What in the world?’ Rae gasped, shakily letting Y/N’s hand go, bringing a hand to cup at his forehead.
His head had been muddled, a polluted sea of shame and resentment. And yet, in an instant, the sea of pollution had been cleared. A rush of clean water, pushing back the murky surroundings, leaving the clearest, pool possible.
‘How am I doing this?’ Y/N blanched, staring at her hands, looking extremely confused.
‘Was this you?’ Rae looked up, his eyes shining with wonder. His hands were shaking as he ran a hand through his hair. ‘I mean… Is this how Beom and Abel managed to be free of Gwi-ma?’
‘I think so. But, I don’t know how I did it? I don’t even control it.’ Y/N frowned, still staring at her splayed palms as if it would reveal all the answers. It hadn’t happened the first time she talked to Rae alone but now, she had changed his patterns. What was the difference?
When she had first touched Abel, all she remembered was feeling concerned for him. Y/N wanted to help him. With Beom, it had been wanting to comfort him. To let him know that mistakes were just that, mistakes. Y/N wanted Beom to see that his talent wasn’t borne from Gwi-ma, but rather, the demon king just helped give Beom a push.
And now Rae?
She wanted Rae to know that normal was subjective. That the norm perceived by society, honestly, wasn’t all that great. That to be who and what he was, was already enough.
Each one of these interactions had been sparked by a strong emotion on Y/N’s end. But was her emotions the only thing that caused this?…
‘Y/N do you know what this means?’ Rae asked, nerves abuzz from adrenaline. ‘This means we wouldn’t have to help Gwi-ma take souls. We could help those hunter things seal the Honmoon! We’d be on this side of the shield, with you.’ Rae was talking a mile a minute still flickering his gaze between Y/N and his own skin.
‘Rae, what if Jinu doesn’t feel that way? What about his memories? I couldn’t ask him to live with reminiscing about the worst parts of his history.’ Y/N shook her head, as her large apartment complex came into view.
It wasn’t that she didn’t trust him. But, while she didn’t approve of Jinu’s deal with Gwi-ma. She understood where he came from, people were, after all, inherently selfish by nature.
‘Y/N, that’s for him to decide. Jinu’s…’ Rae hummed, waiting for Y/N to swipe her key card into the door.
‘He’s changed. He’s softer, even. He was the second last to join our group. For four hundred years, he was distant. I don’t think I’ve seen him smile at anyone but us since we found him.’ Rae continued, as the pair moved into the elevator continuing their conversation as the elevator whirred into motion.
‘I don’t know Rae, but I’ll talk to him. Maybe tomorrow tonight, I’ll speak with him alone?’ Y/N leaned back against the elevator handrails. Looking wistfully at the floor.
‘Sounds good to me!’ Rae gave a patient smile, patting Y/N on the shoulder.
As the doors opened, Y/N was met with not only the smell of barbecued beef. She was also met with all four of the Saja Boys who had not followed her out of the apartment. They all spoke together quickly, words crashing over each other.
‘Y/N I’m sorry. I should have tried harder. I didn’t-’ Abel rushed to say.
‘Y/N we can fix this! We’ll think of something!’ Beom said at the same time, rushing through his words. His usual handsome face was panicked, as if thinking Y/N was about to disintegrate and disappear from before his eyes.
'I should have said something. I'm so sorry-' Min got out, his violet hair tied up.
‘Y/N-’ Jinu also said, trying to explain himself, looking equally as desperate as the rest of the men.
‘Is something burning?’ Y/N raised an eyebrow, craning her neck to look into the kitchen.
‘Oh crap.’
Turns out, the boys had been staring out of the windows, trying to spot when Y/N would walk back. Jinu had begun cooking meat on a barbecue plate stove, one he had bought specifically for today. He had seen that Y/N was working hard for the past week and wanted to surprise her with a meal he knew would perk her right up.
Yet, when they saw Y/N and Rae making their way back home. The boys had abandoned the kitchen, to eagerly await their return. Thus, burning the expensive meat slightly.
Or as Jinu wanted to call it, charring.
As the night drew closer, the moon fully resided in the blanket of night. The stars doing their best to shine amidst the twinkling city lights. Dinner had been finished, leaving all six people feeling renewed and content. The boys had done the dishes while Y/N showereed and finished up her nightly routine.
Beom had whined, whilst being dragged away by Min by the back of his collar. They had to practice for their performance and they only had two nights to do it.
Jinu had insisted that the boys practise away from Y/N’s apartment, so that they were able to let Y/N get a full night of sleep.
While it was different, Y/N didn't see any issue with it. It just meant that they finally would go back to their own apartment and Y/N could rest easy, knowing the boys were in their own area.
However, something was amiss.
Due to the way she had been suddenly thrust into a stress and work filled weak, she had neglected to open her prized notebook. The one where the last few pages were missing.
The words and music sheets of Your Idol had been meticulously torn out of the book. As if they had never existed.
In Jinu’s hands, as Y/N tucked herself into bed, after finishing her night routine. Were a set of papers, familiar with Y/N’s hand writing.
–
‘You took the song from Y/N?’ Min frowned, his hair was still tied up with one of Y/N’s elastics. His perfectly arched brows drawn together in a pinch.
‘Well I took it after we did Soda Pop. But, now I want to use it to surprise her! We can deal with the background music ourselves.’ Jinu explained, looking down, sighing noticing the hesitant look in his friends eyes.
‘In the beginning, I took it because I wanted a guarantee that we would get a good song. But now, I want the world to see how great Y/N’s song writing is! I mean just look at the lyrics. They match us perfectly!’ Jinu’s voice and eyes were void of lies. It was true, he had no ill intentions in his actions.
‘Hm, we’d better explain to her right after the show then. Otherwise it may seem misguided. However, I am for the idea of surprising Y/N by performing her song.’ Abel nodded along, his knuckles propping up his chin.
‘I agree, as long as we specify in the beginning of the performance. Maybe we can make a quick announcement.’ Beom looked thoughtful, staring into the apartment across from their own.
Although he couldn’t see Y/N’s room from here, he could see the jumper he had left there, along with random items the other boys had left there. Y/N’s penthouse had become their home, more than their own apartment. Long had it been, since they spent more than ten minutes in the apartment they had bought. (With fake conjoured cash.)
‘Maybe we can say something along the lines of, “To our song writer and producer, we’d like to dedicate this performance to you. You’ve made us who we are.” Something like that?’ Min suggested, tilting his head, his chin between his thumb and index finger.
‘Yeah, that sounds good.’ Rae nodded, standing up to walk over to Jinu. ‘So, you gonna handle the music?’
‘Ah hah. I may have already finished it…’ Jinu rubbed a hand over his neck nervously, looking slightly embarrassed. ‘She really inspired me.’
‘You and us all.’ Min smiled, ruffling Jinu’s hair. ‘I’m glad you’re finally letting yourself express how you actually feel about Y/N.’
‘Hey… She’s a great friend!’ He whined, protesting against Min’s teasing tone.
‘Yeah right, friend.’ Beom snickered, rolling his eyes.
‘Uh huh?’ Jinu slowly advanced on Beom with raised hands and a playful smirk.
‘No, NO NOT AGAIN. Abel HELP ME.’ Beom screamed, running for his life.
‘Oh, Beomie!’ Jinu called out, racing after the youngest boy his eyes glowing a devious yellow.
‘Can’t help you there. I’m working with Rae to choreograph this number.’ Abel chuckled, listening to the music Jinu had provided on his phone.
‘NOO I’m SORRY I WON’T DO IT AGAIN.’ Beom screeched, flailing his arms as Jinu pounced on the younger man, wrapping his limbs around Beom in familiar stance.
‘Yeah? You gonna tease me again?’ Jinu held Beom’s waist with his legs, his hand tugging on Beom’s ear just enough for it to be uncomfortable.
‘NOOOOO I won’t.’ Beom wailed, writhing.
‘I don’t believe you.’ Jinu laughed, letting Beom go nonetheless, watching the man scramble away to his freedom.
‘JUST ADMIT YOU LIKE HER TOO.’ Beom yelled, escaping to go learn the choreo with Abel and Rae.
‘We’ve shared before. Wouldn’t be anything new.’ Min smirked, looking down at Jinu, extending his hand.
‘Don’t say weird things like that.’ Jinu flushed, grabbing Min’s hand to pull himself up.
‘Oh, you can give orders now?’ He raised an eyebrow, his eyes crinkling at the edges. ‘Don’t forget who's the oldest Jinu.’
‘W- whatever.’ Jinu’s entire face was bright red, steam practically pouring out of his ears. ‘Let’s go practice.’
Min snickered as Jinu walked back to the rest of the group, enjoying the reaction he had received from the younger man.
‘Y/N/N has no idea what’s coming for her does she?’ Min followed Jinu, as the group began to prepare for their stage against Huntr/x. Hopefully Y/N could deal with five demons men who were finding their way into her heart, slowly but very much surely.
Imagine Being Isekai'ed into KPOP DEMON HUNTERS. (part 8)

‘Alright boys, let's settle down.’ Jinu said, crossing his arms and walking towards the group.
‘Hm.’ The boys relented, easing their slightly intimidating stances.
‘So, the hunters are having a fan signing in two days hm?’ Beom narrowed his eyes, moving to his favourite spot on the couch, crossing his legs. Huh, kinda like a cat claiming its territory.
‘How long do those usually take?’ Rae took his place in Y/N’s gaming chair, turning to face where Y/N was standing in the kitchen.
‘Maybe half a day?’ Y/N supplied, still looking somewhat confused. She wasn’t entirely sure of what had just conspired around her.
‘I see.’ Min sat down to her left, resting his elbow on the marble countertop, his tone light.
‘Why?’ Y/N turned, looking at the oldest man who was running his fingers through his hair.
‘Might wanna pay you a visit is all.’ Min’s eyes glinted with mischievousness, his smirk saying everything she needed to hear.
‘You can’t kill them.’ Y/N poked Min’s cheek, drawn by his smooth, unblemished skin. She shook her head, moving toward her PC to turn it off.
To Min’s credit, he only turned a light shade of pink, as he brought his hand down to hover over the spot the girl had touched. His purple hair falling back into place as he savoured Y/N’s touch.
‘But you’re saying we can visit?’ Beom gave a devious smile, lifting his eyes from his phone momentarily.
‘You don’t even have the tickets to go to the fan signing.’ Y/N laughed, spinning around as her computer monitor turned black, standing to walk back to the kitchen.
‘Hm, I think you forget what we’re capable of.’ Beom’s eyes flashed a golden colour, before turning back into his humanesque eyes.
‘That's true… I hear one of the body guard’s likes handsome men.’ Y/N looked amused, staring at Beom’s steadily reddening face.
‘NO, I MEANT HYPNOSIS.’
‘Ohh.’ Y/N chuckled, hiding her laughter behind her hand. ‘Yes of course Beom-ie. The hypnosis!’
‘How come Beom gets a nickname?’ Abel grunted, still standing behind Y/N.
‘Why are you still behind me?’ Y/N blinked, shifting her neck to glance at Abel.
‘Don’t ask questions you don’t want the answer to darlin’.’ He crossed his arms, eyes glinting with unspoken desire, moving to sit down on one of the counter chairs.
Y/N gave a confused look, as Jinu set down a bowl of soup in front of her with a clink. The soup’s scent wafted toward her, hearty, warm and inviting.
‘Jinu, if you do this for me everyday I might as well make you my wife for real.’ Y/N let a breath of content out, picking up her spoon and digging in. A peaceful smile spread over her lips, letting the soothing broth slide down her throat.
‘Are you proposing?’ Rae chuckled. ‘You know that marrying Jinu would mean marrying all of us too?’
‘That is true. We’re a package deal.’ Jinu gave a forlorn smile, before looking at his friends with the same soft smile.
‘Huh, having five pretty husbands is better than one!’ Y/N joked, completely missing the flash of hope, resonating off of the men’s faces.
‘Hmm, I won’t let you forget this.’ Jinu whispered, watching as Y/N brushed her thumb finger over her lips.
‘Hmm? Did’ya say something?’ Y/N asked, standing to get herself another bowl of soup.
‘The rice is ready. Have a bowl of that and soup, then you have to go to bed. You’ve been awake for too long.’ The black haired man replied, without missing a beat.
‘Mmh, what are you, my mother?’ Y/N whined, as her bowl was taken gently from her hands by Abel, who was now scooping rice into it.
‘No, we’re your wives, remember?’ Min said, his head laying to rest on his arm.
‘And such pretty wives you’ll make!’ Y/N nodded, thanking Abel with a nod, as the muscular man gently set down her last bowl of food.
The room began to blur, as Y/N continued to pick up her spoon. Listening to the men chatter around her, slowly becoming a lullaby. Dozing off was inevitable, seeing as she had definitely overworked herself
‘Shh, look, she’s nodded off again.’ A voice whispered, soft and teasing.
‘Y/N does realise we’re men right? Even worse, we’re demons. Does she have no care for her own safety.’ Beom sighed, walking toward the girl who had fallen asleep.
The youngest man bent his knees, sliding his arm under Y/N’s legs, putting an arm under her back. He gently slid the girl from her sleeping position, bringing Y/N to the ensuite in her room.
Y/N had two toothbrushes for some reason, an electric one and a regular one. Beom opted for the electric one, seeing as it would be easier to brush Y/N’s teeth that way. He chuckled at the cartoon stickers on the toothbrush.
‘Come on open up.’ Beom muttered, wetting Y/N’s toothbrush, applying a mint toothpaste.
Beom gently pulled Y/N’s jaw down, turning the electric toothbrush on to the lowest setting, brushing over Y/N’s teeth gently.
‘Okay Y/N-ie. Time to rinse.’ He whispered, ‘Spit it out.’
Y/N gargled the water weakly, before spitting it out back into the sink.
‘That’s my girl.’ Beom smiled, picking Y/N back up, walking out of the bathroom.
Laying Y/N on her bed, Beom took notice of another presence in her room.
‘Don’t forget to wipe her face.’ Min walked forward with a warm towel.
‘Thanks Min 형.’ Beom held his hands out, as the oldest man placed the warm town into his grasp.
‘It’s nice to see you taking care of someone else now, for a change Beom-ie.’ Min gave a subtle smile, patting the youngest on the head.
Centuries ago, when they took in Beom. They had found him, hollow and void of emotion in the underworld. It genuinely was heartwarming to see that Beom had developed his own sense of compassion. Gwi-ma had made it almost impossible to have any emotions other than shame and anger.
The underworld was his pen of cattle, ready for disposal at any moment. His demons no more than play things for him to pass the time as the Honmoon drew closer and closer to being closed.
And yet, there was something these five boys had since long lost.
Hope
Hope in the form of a girl, who had freed Abel and Beom.
Hope that ignited a spark in them that had been extinguished for centuries.
‘Urgh.. I’m still hungry,’ Y/N whined, in a half asleep state, opening her eyes slightly to spot the purple haired man.
‘You can eat tomorrow morning. No one’s taking your food. Come on now, it’s time to sleep.’ Min hushed the girl, placing a reassuring hand on Y/N’s face.
‘Thanks for taking care of me Beom. You too Min.’ Y/N brought her hand up to touch Min’s hand, for a brief second. ‘Min, you have such pretty eyes.’
A flash of white blue and gold. Just like the one Beom and Abel had experience. A ripple of iridescent colour echoed through Min’s patterns as Y/N’s hand fell limply to her side.
‘Wha-’
‘Shh!’ Beom hushed the older man, quickly putting a hand over his mouth.
‘Wah wash dat.’ Min mumbled, gently peeling Beom’s hands off his mouth, staring incredulously at the now lightly snoring girl.
‘That was what caused Gwi-ma to think we were dead.’ Beom looked at Y/N, heaving a sigh. ‘Me and Abel also felt the same spark. Although, we aren’t sure what causes it.’
‘But how could she just-’
‘She also doesn't know. Y/N said that it could be something to do with the fact that she was meant to be a hunter.’
‘Meant to be?’ Min looked confused.
‘Yes, meant to be. She can see the Honmoon and see the lines but apparently she can’t use spirit power to create a weapon.’ Beom explained, pushing Min out of the room with his hands. ‘She also said we had to stay quiet. Jinu wouldn’t be happy if he found out this was possible.’
‘But what if Jinu found out he could be free too? I can ignore Gwi-ma but he's actually just not in my head anymore. He’s completely gone!’ Min whispered excitedly, looking as if he had been healed from a century long headache.
Beom paused, contemplating his response.
‘But you heard him, he said Y/N was just a means to an end.’
‘Right…’
‘Is she asleep?’ The mentioned man piped up, startling Beom and Min as they eased the bedroom door shut.
‘Yeah, she’s down for the night.’ Beom recovered quickly, smoothing out his handsome face from its momentary, anxious display.
‘That's good.’ Jinu nodded, before slinging his arm around Beom. ‘I grabbed a bowl of soup for you. You better drink every drop of it.’
‘Did you-’
‘I put extra salt in it just how you like it.’ Jinu nodded, crossing his arms triumphantly
‘Okey I’ll eat it.’ Beom power walked over to the kitchen, forgetting about the previous situation. His mind was now focused on the bowl of soup waiting for him in the kitchen.
‘Two hundred years and he still enjoys salty food.’ Min shook his head, looking amused.
‘Wasn’t salt used as a trading tool back in your day grandpa?’ Jinu jeered, nudging his oldest friend with his elbow teasingly.
‘Why you little.’ Min quickly twisted Jinu into a playful headlock, dragging him to the kitchen.
‘Hey, hey! I was kidding! Come on grandpa, it’s time to go back to the retirement home!’ Jinu continued, as Min released him.
‘You brat.’ Min gave a soft snort, shaking his head.
–
The fan signing came, Y/N had spent the morning pleading to the men to leave the Hunter/x girls unharmed.
Honestly, she wasn't sure how they were going to get into the fan signing. They didn't camp out like the movie, they had spent the morning pestering Y/N, wanting her to stay home.
‘Guys, I promised to go. They're my friends.’ Y/N sighed, staring at the downcast group. They genuinely hated the idea of Y/N being anywhere near Huntr/x. Not because the girls were hunters, but because they seemed to also share an interest in what the Saja Boys had already deemed as their girl.
‘Are we not your friends?’ Min whispered, as if not wanting to know the answer.
‘What? Yes. Okay look, if I let the tiger-’
‘Derpy.’ Jinu cut in, looking hopeful.
‘Okay, if I let Derpy come with me, will you guys stop pouting.’ Y/N said, trying to fight a smile, watching five handsome men speak in hushed whispers. Deciding amongst each other of this was good enough for them.
‘Okay. But can we come if we don't kill Hunter/x?’ Rae asked, his dark lavender eyes were wide, pleading.
‘HAH. If you can somehow get in, sure! You underestimate their staff.’ Y/N turned around, walking towards her front door to pull on her shoes. Derp had since appeared out of a portal, striding over to Y/N, rumbling a question for pets. One that Y/N happily gave, giving Derpy scritches under his chin.
Five pairs of eyes, flashed bright yellow for a second from behind Y/N, all filled with a touch of deviousness.
‘I’m heading out now!’ Y/N called out, blissfully unaware of the challenge that she had unknowingly issued. ‘Come on sweetheart, we’re gonna go meet my friends!’
‘Oh, we are so crashing that stupid fansign.’ Beom smirked, watching Y/N wave as the elevator doors closed.
–
‘Alright, team! I know everything is Saja, Saja, Saja. But we’re gonna turn it, Huntr/x, Huntr/x, Huntr/x!’ Bobby cheered, the three girls stretched as Y/N walked into the room.
‘Y/N/N!’ The girls chorused, standing up from their table.
‘Hey girls! I’m here!’ Y/N walked over, letting herself be enveloped in a group hug. ‘Hey Bobby! Hope you’re doing well!’
‘I’m doing good! Glad to see you’re up and awake!’ Bobby replied, before looking around, checking if anything else needed organising.
‘We’re so glad you’re here! We missed you so much!’ Zoey chirped, dragging Y/N to stand behind where the girls were sitting.
‘Zoey, it’s only been like a day and a half max.’ Mira chuckled before adding, ‘No but for real, we have missed you.’
‘You’re still down to have us over after the fan sign right?’ Rumi asked, eyes round and earnest.
‘Of course! We can have dinner and then come back to mine to record!’ Y/N nodded, giving Rumi a soft pat on the head.
‘Oh my gosh, I want a headpat too!’ Zoey whined, grabbing Y/N’s other hand, placing it on top of her own head.
‘You’re so cute Zoey.’ Y/N gave a soft hearted grin, patting Zoey’s head.
‘Okay girls! These fans have been sleeping on the sidewalk all night for this! Let’s get started!’ Bobby smiled, watching the interaction.
‘Happy fans, Happy Honmoon!’ The girls whispered, clinking their pens together.
‘Alright, let's bring ‘em in!’ Bobby called out to the security, as the doors opened.
Y/N frowned as she watched five sleeping bags huddle to the front of the line. Surely it wasn’t… Wait, how did the boys show up in the movie again? Y/N put her finger to her chin, tapping it thoughtfully.
‘And who should I make this out to?’ Rumi hummed, without looking up.
‘To Y/N’s biggest fans.’ A hauntingly familiar voice said.
‘Oh no…’ Y/N slapped a hand on her forehead in disbelief as the boys dropped their sleeping bags, jumping into a quick group pose.
‘It’s the Saja Boys!’ The fans chorused, cheering excitedly.
The three Huntr/x girls let out a collective groan, snapping their pens. Y/N however, gave a menacing glare (as menacing as she could). Staring at the demon boy band. In return, the group of boys beamed at her, finding Y/N’s anger to be akin to a puppy throwing a tantrum.
‘It is an honor.’ Bobby gave a fake smile. ‘Table, now!’
‘Joint signing!’ The fans gasped, half of them moving to the other table.
‘We’d lose half the fans?’ Rumi gaped.
‘The Saja Boys will sit with us!’ Mira called out, displaying a fake, yet beautiful smile, whilst Zoey waved unenthusiastically.
‘Genius.’ Bobby smiled, tears running down his eyes.
‘Same table?’ The fans said in hushed whispers.
‘Y/N’s ours.’ Rae snickered, sitting next to Mira.
‘Y/N called me cute not even five minutes ago.’ Zoey bragged, taking a jab at Beom who was reluctantly sitting down next to her.
‘Yeah? Well she called me handsome.’ Beom spat back, crossing his arms, face twisted in a somehow still attractive scowl.
‘Hey Y/N.’ Jinu smiled, coming to sit on the chair Y/N was standing in front of. Y/N couldn’t see his face but she could practically hear the smugness dripping off his tongue.
‘Jinu…’ Y/N sighed, as Derpy rubbed his body on Y/N’s legs, having reappeared now that the Huntr/x girls were facing forward.
‘So, apparently you’re part demon.’ Jinu whispered to the girl who was glaring knives into the side of his face.
‘Yeah, and?’ Rumi snarled, signing a poster and handing it to a fan with a smile.
‘I didn’t think you’d share that with your friends.’
‘Oh, no! I love sharing.’ Rumi rolled her eyes, wanting to keep her cool in front of Y/N and her fans.
‘If only I could smash in your demon face right now.’ Mira growled at Abel, signing a poster before changing her face to one of gratitude for the fan. ‘Thanks for coming!’
‘Oh, is that so?’ Jinu snickered, leaning back to look at Y/N. ‘Y’hear that husband?’
‘Jinu! Hush!’ Y/N whined, pushing Jinu’s head back up to its natural position.
‘Are you two whispering?’ A fan asked, looking at Y/N and Jinu with a smile.
‘Uh-’ Y/N panicked, darting her eyes between Jinu and the fan.
‘Don’t worry, your secret’s safe with me!’ She pointed to her shirt, a drawing of Y/N and Jinu together with a shipname.
‘Wha-’
‘Thanks so much!’ Jinu beamed, whilst Rumi fumed, scribbling her autograph onto a poster.
‘We’re not-’ Y/N protested, as the fan left, replaced by another person.
‘Did you know Y/N’s seen us shirtless before?’ Abby jeered quietly, provoking Mira.
‘Yeah? Did she run away from how ugly you are?’ Mira sneered, signing another poster, her pen almost breaking from the sheer force behind it.
‘Mm, she’s so cute isn’t she?’ Rae hummed loud enough for Y/N to hear, signing his own poster.
‘Rae, shh.’ Y/N put a finger to her lips, a heat creeping up her neck.
‘Anything for you, my dear.’ He grinned, enjoying the reaction he received.
‘Y/N will never like you more than me.’ Zoey hissed, before beaming at another fan, handing them their signed poster. ‘Thanks so much for supporting us!’
‘Yeah? Well I can be cute, but you can’t be handsome.’ Beom grinned maliciously.
‘I could so be handsome.’ Zoey said indignantly, turning to look at Y/N.
‘Y/N! Do you think I could be handsome?’
Y/N looked puzzled, not entirely sure of what was being asked of her.
‘I think you could be handsome if you want to, Zoey. Why?’ She tilted her head, blinking.
‘Nothing! Love you Y/N!’ Zoey smiled victoriously.
‘Y/N, who do you think is cuter! Me or this person.’ Beom asked, shoving Zoey discreetly.
‘Beom, come on, behave.’ Y/N walked over, smoothing down the boy’s hair quickly in an attempt to calm him down. At the same time, she placed a warm hand on Zoey’s shoulder, effectively reassuring Zoey.
Derpy gave a rumble, which seemed to be a laugh.
‘Yeah, I’m glad this is amusing to you.’ Y/N chuckled quietly, walking back to her spot behind Jinu.
‘Yeah? Well we’re going over tonight to Y/N’s apartment so beat that.’ Rumi huffed, before smiling at another fan.
‘You’re not gonna like what-’ Jinu began as Y/N put a gentle hand on his back, halting him instantly. The man stilled at Y/n’s touch, turning slightly to spot Y/N shaking her head.
‘Uh, well, she’d have more fun with us.’ Jinu restated, understanding the meaning behind Y/n’s touch. The way Y/n’s hand lingered on his back, set a small flame of comfort, flicking in his chest.
‘Well too bad.’ Rumi smiled triumphantly. ‘She’s ours.’
‘Yeah, for tonight.’ Jinu bit back, slouching slightly in defeat.
‘I don’t get a say in this do I?’ Y/N raised an eyebrow, as Derpy circled figure eights against her legs.
‘Of course you do Y/N!’ Both said in unison, before glaring at each other.
‘Oh boy…’ Y/n sighed, before backing away from the two leaders, who seemed to be ready to start another argument.
Imagine Being Isekai'ed into KPOP DEMON HUNTERS. (part 7)
SORRRYY here is part 7! a bit smaller, this is honestly, ARE U GUYS READY TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED IN Y/N'S SPARE ROOM? (tag list is still full guys!)
Previous - Next
A heavy silence filled the room, a weighing question lingering in the air.
Why had Abel and Beom not been recalled along with the other men.
Despite what Gwi-ma had thought, the two men had not been slain. In fact, they were not even close to being dead. This was the most alive they’d felt in decades thanks to Y/N.
‘Gwi-ma thinks you’re both dead.’ Jinu started, looking up at Abel and Beom. The mentioned men stiffened, looking down at a spot on the ground. Neither had given an explanation in the past twenty minutes, allowing the group to stew in an uncomfortable silence.
‘What did you tell him?’ Beom asked nervously, in a faux relaxed position sitting on Y/N’s spare bed.
The two had remembered their conversation with Y/N that it probably wasn’t the best idea to tell Jinu about what happened. To be candid, both the men were aching to tell him. Jinu was their friend. If there was a way they could pull him and the rest of their friends away from Gwi-ma’s manipulative nature, they wanted to do it. However, two men had promised Y/N that they wouldn’t say anything for now..
‘I said that the hunters had killed you both. Gwi-ma believed it too.’
‘I don’t know why we weren’t called back. We can still shift back into our original form but…’ A quiet puff of pink smoke revealed Abel’s true form as a demon, patterns and all. The black hanbok, fitting him snugly, complimented his figure perfectly. His claws were scratching nervously at his cheek.
‘How…’ Rae shook his head, ‘How is that possible. Do you not hear him in your head? What did you guys do?’
‘We didn’t do anything.’ Beom insisted, also shifting into his demon form, his yellow eyes illuminating the room in a soft light. ‘But it’s true, we haven’t been hearing Gwi-ma. It’s like our connection’s been severed.’
And technically, it was true. Beom and Abel hadn’t done anything, it was Y/N who had freed them from their suffering. She was the one person who had shown them empathy (besides each other) ever since their respective deaths. Empathy, that came with only one reasonable request.
That they wouldn’t take souls.
Yet, neither of the men were sure if this situation was permanent. What if at some point Gwi-ma's forked tongue reclaimed them, forcing them back to becoming a shell of the men they once were?
For now they hadn't taken any souls. Not personally at least.
‘Gwi-ma might be in our heads, but he can’t read our minds, he can only listen to how we feel.’ Min reasoned, running his fingers over the dusty spines of books stored on an old bookshelf. He had been around the underworld the longest, although he hadn’t made as much effort as Jinu to interact with Gwi-ma.
Min had been able to drown out Gwi-ma’s voice the most, seeing as he had endured years of suffering and harsh words from the street. The beatings that he took from strangers outweighed the shame of Gwi-ma’s incessant whispering.
‘That's true.’ Jinu scrunched up his eyebrows, still feeling like he was missing something.
‘Wow, she has Janggi?’ Min slid out the long forgotten box, blowing dust from the top. Pivoting the conversation smoothly into a more wistful tone. Jinu had since stood up from his spot on the floor, leaning against the room's door.
‘Hey Abel, didn't you use to play that with the emperor?’ Rae squinted, looking at the dusty box.
‘Yeah, I remember I had to let the guy win or he’d fire me.’ Abel snickered, crossing his arms proudly.
‘I forgot you were both alive at the same time.’ Jinu said, whilst listening through the wall.
‘Yeah, he was the emperor's top strategist…’ Rae paused. ‘What the hell are you doing?’
‘That hunter just said she would fall in love with our Y/N.’ Jinu’s hand was clenched into a tight fist. The side of his head pressed firmly
‘WHAT?’ Rae jumped out of his chair, knocking over a box, creating a loud thump.
‘SHHH!’
‘Sorry!’ Rae whined, slumping back into his seat.
‘Why would she say that? Does she like our Y/N?’ Abel had since joined Jinu by the door, both men, ears pressed up to the door.
‘You both look like idiots.’ Min deadpanned, opening the Janggi case to check if all the pieces were still inside. ‘Hey Abel, wanna play?’
‘No, I wanna hear what's goin’ on.’
‘If you win, I’ll let you sit next to Y/N on the next car ride.’
‘Done.’ Abel turned away from the door, hurrying over to the makeshift game set up on the spare bed.
‘He knows that’s not up to Min right?’ Beom whispered to Rae.
‘Dunno.’
–
Y/N stretched, watching the sun peak out from the clouds, casting a luminous halo into the skyline.
The girls had left around two am, finishing their recordings quickly. They really were true idols.
It had taken Y/N all night to come up with an acceptable draft, piecing all the recordings together into the correct timing.
‘Ugh… I’m getting too old for this.’ Y/N mumbled, standing up and stretching her sore, stiff limbs.
‘Hm, I’m into older women.’
‘Huh?’ Y/N spun around, watching Beom and the rest of the boys spread out in her living space behind her. Each man was doing something different, Abel was playing Janggi with Min with a board and pieces she didn’t even know she owned. Beom was laying on her sofa, scrolling through his phone while Jinu was in the kitchen, prepping what seemed to be another soup.
‘Oh my goodness! Did you guys stay there the whole time I was editing?’
‘Yeah, we didn’t want to disturb you.’ Min replied, looking up from the tense game.
Rae was spinning around on Y/N’s spare gaming chair.
‘Wow, you guys were really quiet.’ Y/N stood up, rubbing her eyes. ‘When’d you guys come out of the room?’
‘After we had a chat.’ Jinu cut up some vegetables, dicing them into perfect pieces. ‘Just after your hunter friends left.’
‘Whatcha makin?’ Y/N sat down at the kitchen counter, laying her head to rest on her arms, relishing the coolness of the marble top.
‘Galbitang, I bought a bunch of meat, remember?’ Jinu raised his eyebrows, scraping the vegetables into a pot on the stove. ‘Do you ever check your fridge for more than an energy drink Y/N.’
Y/N groaned, as she peeked up from her arms, watching JInu shake his head in mock disapproval.
‘Myeh, I don’t usually eat anyways. I just order something or run down to the convenience store.’
‘You’re gonna die before you hit forty Y/N.’ Beom shook his head, sitting down next to her.
‘Ugh, you’re two hundred, don’t talk about my age you boomer.’
‘You just said I was born two hundred years ago. I can’t be a boomer.’ Beom poked Y/N’s forehead gently, pushing her head backwards.
‘Bah, semantics.’ Y/N stuck out her tongue, allowing herself to be pushed back.
‘So, what is the plan? We have award shows lined up for the next two weeks.’ Rae crossed his arms, coming to a slow stop in his chair.
‘Well, nothing. We wait until the Idol Awards. For now, we…’ Jinu paused, the noise of frying something in oil crackled, filling the awkward silence.
‘We keep doing what we’re doing.’ Min nodded, stretching out his arms to rest his hands on the back of his neck.
‘Sure, whatever.’ Abel shrugged, locking his phone. ‘We have a bunch of award shows to go to. How many awards do you think we snatched from under their noses?’
‘As a debut group? Isn't that embarrassing?’ Rae snickered, standing up.
‘We have the better song writer.’
‘I wrote both of those songs…’ Y/N mumbled, face mashed into the marble table.
‘Mhm, you did well.’ Jinu slid a plate of gyeran mari kimbap towards her, ‘Eat up.’
‘But what about my galbitang?’ Y/N pouted, eating the egg dipped kimbap nonetheless.
‘Patience. You’d make such a demanding husband.’ Jinu rolled his eyes with a goodnatured smile. ‘It takes time to boil, you know that.'
‘But your sokkoritang was so gooood.’ Y/N mumbled, whilst chewing.
‘Yeah, because I made sure that it boiled for at least two hours.’ Jinu hummed, walking forward to brush a thumb over Y/N’s cheek. ‘Don’t talk while you’re chewing.’
Jinu sighed, watching Y/N batter his hands away, the girl not realising that Jinu had taken a stray piece of rice off her cheek.
‘Such a messy eater when you’re hungry.’ He whispered, bringing his thumb to his lips.
The rest of the boys gaped, watching the interaction.
‘Yall saw that right?’ Beom pointed, hand shaking.
‘Since when did Jinu have moves like that?’ Rae looked completely floored.
‘What moves?’ Y/N turned around, swallowing her mouthful.
‘What do you mean, what moves?’ Abel facepalmed, shaking his head in disappointment.
Jinu shrugged, face slightly red.
‘Our Y/N must be incredibly dense.’ Min chuckled, walking over to sit beside the confused girl. The oldest picked up a piece of kimbap and held it up.
‘Say, ah.’ He grinned, tilting his head.
‘Give that back.’ Y/N snatched the slice of kimbap so quickly her hand was a blur. ‘It’s mine. Get your own Jinu cooking.’
The boys were stunned, watching Y/N stand and take her plate over to her set up.
‘Wuh-’
‘Y/N, you haven’t slept in twenty four hours. What are you doing?’ Rae frowned, walking over to the still eating girl.
‘I’m almost done with editing the vocals. I just need to finish up. I’ll be done in like… four hours? I gotta do this for my girls.’ Y/N waved him off, placing a tissue over her mouse to keep from greasing under her fingers.
‘Workaholic.’ Beom commented, watching Y/N unlock her computer.
‘What do you mean my girls.’ Min ran an irate hand through his hair.
‘They’re my girls.’
‘Are you courting one of them?’ Min looked devastated, as if someone had just told him that they were out of hairgel.
‘No? It’s just a term of endearment.’ Y/N laughed, not looking up from her computer.
‘People use terms of endearment not for their loved ones?’ Rae looked equally confused.
‘Huh? Yeah all the time. I think Rumi has me saved as ‘와이프’ (waipeu) in her phone.’ Y/N shrugged, picking up the last piece of kimbap from her plate.
‘와이프?’
‘Like wife, 아내 (wife).’
‘You’re her wife?!’ The boys shouted in unison, all looking equally distressed.
‘No. Come on, you guys are so old fashioned-’ Y/N paused before turning around. ‘Do you guys have updated technology in the Underworld or do you just stay stuck in whatever era you came from?’
‘Eh, we were more preoccupied with reliving every single mistake we’d ever made, and listening to Gwi-ma whisper atrocities in our ears.’ Beom shrugged, rolling over to face the ceiling.
‘Oh…’ Y/N winced, looking at the boys who all refused to meet her eyes.
‘Anyways, that's why we’re here.’ Jinu broke the silence, closing the lid of soup. ‘So, what is our schedule like today?’
‘Well, we have a street performance lined up for today.’ Abel checked his phone, scrolling through his calendar.
‘Well, we better get ready for that.’ Jinu untied his apron, setting it neatly folded on the kitchen counter top. ‘Do we need to run through choreography? Does everyone feel good?’
‘Yeah, I have our outfits ready and washed.’ Rae nodded, pulling out Jinu’s pink undershirt.
‘I am not wearing pink.’ Jinu crossed his arms, turning away with a childish scowl.
‘But Y/N said you looked good in pink.’ Beom hinted, his tone mischievous.
‘I’m wearing it because it makes our performance outfits coherent. Not because Y/N thinks it looks good.’ Jinu grumbled, taking the shirt from Rae’s hand reluctantly, making his way to the bathroom.
‘Whatever floats your boat 형.’ Beom hid a triumphant smile from behind his fist.
‘Do you guys want me to come with you?’ Y/N stood up, taking her plate from the desk.
‘No. You haven’t slept. You’re staying home and sleeping.’ Rae took the plate from Y/N’s hands, walking toward the sink.
‘But I-’
‘No. Rae is right. You’re staying home.’ Abel crossed his arms, raising a single eyebrow. ‘You can work on your song now but you’re going to bed when we’re leaving.’
‘Can’t make me.’ Y/N stuck out her tongue, sitting back down in her chair.
‘Is that right?’ Abel leaned down, his hands gripping the chair’s handrests, caging her in. Y/N blinked up at Abel’s dark scarlet eyes, face warming up. His body emitted a familiar warmth, his unbuttoned crappy hawaiian shirt revealed muscles Y/N didn’t even know existed.
‘Okay, OKAY.’ Y/N huffed, pushing Abel away, her hands on his chest. With an amused smile on his face, Abel allowed himself to be pushed away from his close proximity.
‘That’s our girl.’
‘We’ll be back in about four hours. In the meantime, don’t open the pot lid, it’s simmering at the moment so you don’t have to check in on it.’ Jinu returned from the bathroom, changed into his performance clothes.
‘Okaaaayy.’ Y/N replied, plotting in her mind to steal a bowl of soup as soon as the boys left.
‘I’ll know if you opened the lid Y/N.’ Jinu raised an eyebrow, a knowing look on his face.
‘Ugh okay wife, geez you’re so particular with your cooking.’ Y/N groaned, spinning back to face her monitor, slipping her headphones on.
‘She called me wife…’ Jinu was frozen, jaw hanging in the air.
‘Yeah, I’m pretty sure she was just making fun of you.’ Beom shrugged, pulling on his shoes in front of the elevator.
‘Yeah, but she still said it.’ Jinu mumbled, stalking over to his shoes.
‘Does Jinu have a crush?’ Min whispered, nudging the younger man with his elbow, never missing a chance to tease his friend.
‘No!’ He whispered back, blushing profusely. ‘She’s… she's just a means to an end.’
‘You cook for all your ‘means to an end’ people?’ Rae pushed the button to open the elevator doors.
‘Hell, he barely even cooks for us.’ Abel laughed, leaning against the wall.
‘That’s because we don’t eat.’ Jinu rolled his eyes, shoulders hunched up, arms crossed. He looked exactly like a grumpy kitten that hadn’t been fed for five minutes.
‘But we can!’ Beom noted, coming to stand next to Jinu with a cheeky smile.
‘Why you little.’ Jinu grabbed the youngest man’s ear gently, tugging it upward. ‘You little brat. The last time I cooked for you, you didn’t even finish the entire dish.’
‘I’m sorrryyyy.’ Beom whined, hands pawing at Jinu’s shirt trying to get the older man to release his ear. ‘Ugh, let go! I’m not a child anymore!’
‘You’ll always be our youngest.’ Min smiled, patting the man on the head.
‘I have the deepest voice. I’m two hundred years old!’ Beom protested, rubbing at his ear.
‘Yeah, yeah. We know.’
‘You’re all grown up.’
‘I will disfigure you.’ Beom growled, stomping into the elevator.
‘We heal pretty fast so that’s not a problem.’ Min pressed the button to hold open the doors for the rest of the boys.
‘You guys suck.’
‘You love your 형 too much to do that, hmm?’ Jinu smirked down at his friend.
‘Shut up…’
It was now the middle of the afternoon, the boys were due back anytime soon.
The soup Jinu had left on the stove was beginning to smell irresistible, the smell wafting from the kitchen, filling her home with the subtle reminder of Jinu and his cooking.
Just as Y/N had finished up Takedown, sliding her headphones off, her phone began to buzz insistently on the table.
‘Hello?’ Y/N unlocked her phone, not looking at the caller ID as she cracked her neck, the subtle pop freeing the tension in her neck.
‘Hey Y/N!’ Rumi’s melodious voice came from the phone, sounding excited. ‘We have a fan signing in two days! Do you wanna come with us? We want to also introduce you as our producer!’
‘Is that Y/N? Lemme say hi,’ Another voice came from the phone, eager and expectant.
‘Hey Zoey.’ Y/N grinned, knowing exactly who it was.
‘Hey Y/N! Will you come?!’ Zoey was cut off by a sound of fabric rustling as she whined in protest.
‘Hey Y/N, have you eaten today?’ Mira’s distinguishable voice filled Y/N’s phone.
‘Hey Mira,’ Y/N laughed. ‘Yeah, I had the kimbap you gave me for breakfast.’
‘Atta girl.’ Another scruffling noise as Rumi finally took back her phone.
‘So? Will you come?’ Rumi’s voice was high in anticipation.
‘How can I say no to my girls?’ Y/N chuckled, swiping through her calendar app, ‘What time is it?’
‘It’ll start at ten! I’m so glad you said yes!’ Rumi’s cheers came through the phone, mingled with the sounds of joy by Zoey and Mira.
‘Oh! And I just finished Takedown! I’ll send it over and you guys can start the choreography!’ Y/N held her phone to her ear by her shoulder, sitting back down in her chair to export her project. ‘I was thinking that you guys could come over after your signing and we can start recording What It Sounds Like.’
‘Already? Y/N did you sleep yet.’ Mira’s voice filtered through the phone, a tone of concern highlighting her words.
‘Hm? Not yet, I’ll sleep as soon as I’ve exported it and sent it to you.’ Y/N pulled open her browser.
‘Promise?’
‘Yes I promise.’ Y/N nodded forgetting that the girls couldn’t see her.
‘Good.’
Y/N listened to the girls as they all said goodbye, promising Huntr/x that she’d see them in two days.
'Okay, love you Y/N See ya!!' The girls chorused.
'Love you too girls!'
'Y'hear that boys? She said she loves them.' Rae's voice came from behind her, a puff of pink smoke revealing five incredibly stone-faced men.
'You said you weren't courting them!' Min slinked over, tone dangerously calm.
'Uh, I'm not? It's just something you say to your friends.' Y/N edged backward, her back pressed up against a wall.
'You never tell us you love us.' The wall rumbled.
'If you can say it to them, why not say it to us?' Beom piped up in his low voice, blocking her right side. The blue haired man's lips were pulled into a thin line.
'What, are you shy?' Rae came to stand on her left, leaning down to peer into her eyes, blocking all her possible exits.
Y/N's eyes darted to Jinu's a faint smirk on his lips as he watched the situation unfold. Why did it look like he was enjoying this?!
