UPDATE 18/11/20
Hi everyone! Eleanor here. Recently, I received news that our technician has emailed the company that sent us our printer components, and they had wonderfully agreed to send us a replacement set of parts with the manual inside. They have said that they will double check the box before it is sent to us to ensure that all of our parts are there, as well as the cutting on the panels are correct.
On behalf of my team, I would like to say a massive thank you to Create Education for helping us with this problem, and we can’t wait to get back to the project as soon as possible!

Day 2 13/11/20
Day 2! So today, the plan was to get as far as we could without the missing wires, whilst we waited for new ones to arrive. Once we looked at the manual, we needed to get out certain screws, however the labelling system used meant we had to measure out all the screws to correspond them to the correct code. Luckily this only took about 5 minutes and we sorted them using our own system.
Next, we were planning on attaching the wires that we did have to the front panel, however, imagine our surprise when our panel, more specifically the pre made holes, didn’t match the diagram. After looking around a bit and determining that this was indeed the correct panel, we came to the conclusion that our panel was missing two holes. At this point, we decided to leave it there for the session and drill the missing holes another day.
Day 1 10/11/20
So, today’s the day! Our first attempt at building the 3D printer. It started off well. We found the manual and got started. We managed to get as far as placing the ball bearings in their places, however, we soon found out that we were missing some wires. This unfortunately meant that we had to leave it there, but this session allowed us to give the manual a read so we knew what we needed to do next session once the wires had been found.

Current A-Levels: Design Technology, Maths, Physics and History
I am taking part in this project as I am a huge fan of building and creating products. Over my life I have made many wooden products as well as working with some metal. I do have some experience with electronics, however, I am very excited for the challenges that building a 3D printer will bring.
I am hoping to study Aerospace engineering at university in the hopes of working in that field someday in the future.

I’m doing the Gold Crest Award because I enjoy the hands-on process of construction. I’m also looking forward to working as a team and building a 3D printer for my school.
In the future I would like to go to university, I’m thinking about studying something that incorporates both creative and scientific skills, such as engineering, architecture or product design.

I am taking part in this project because I want to create a product that will make it easier for other students to be more creative with what they design because I believe everyone should be given the chance to be as creative as possible. I am a very hands-on designer who likes puzzles, so I believe I can bring my unique perspective to the team.
In the future I hope to have a career in the design industry as it is my passion.

I love building and creating products and I believe this project will help me develop my puzzle solving abilities and help future students at the school to create more adventurous designs, therefore I’m excited for this experience.
