i have 170+ ocs from various sources and stories so there's probably gonna be entirely random names you've never heard of, along with names you may know a tiny bit. ask about them if you want. ask about all of them if you want. the url is the title of a comic i made around 1st-3rd grade
a few ocs/oc terms have the worst fucking names to pronounce ever. pronounce them however you want, you'll probably be right
rknase base of operations
if this blog shows up in tags: if i use a name of a real person it's entirely coincidental and i apologize for invading their tag. sorry to chase hudson fans in particular. if you exist
yeah i think it's finally time to post this. there's like 45 line breaks in this holy shit
essence and glitches time
i completely forget if i've talked about glitches before. i want to talk about them Now. i'll have to give a couple basic explanations of a couple story terms first bc i highly doubt i've talked about them before.
first: Essence
essence is what makes a character a character. yeah that's it. as a concept it's not complicated but once i start explaining it it probably becomes like the fnaf lore.
it's this solid rock thing hiding in a character's base form (this form is often human or humanoid and possess human strength; glitches are different because they can have the ability to shapeshift and are stronger, among other powers).
(also xyn are also different bc they shapeshift as well but i'm not entirely sure if xyn as a species is even canon to the main timeline or not. they have their own story that may or may not be disconnected from the main timeline (still deciding) so i don't know whether main timeline things apply or not).
robots don't have essence.
anyways essence is a lot like gems from steven universe and i genuinely wish i never got inspired by that but it's a big part of specifically solstyx's character so i can't change it. it dictates appearance, personality, morals, strengths and weaknesses, memory, whatever else the fuck else makes people people.
characters with damaged essence change. solstyx can only feel anger; every other emotion is just. numb. oliver and a couple other characters became glitches from it.
i don't really have any rules about what changes occur other than that it's completely random. could be one thing, could be a couple, could be Everything.
there's a term i'm gonna explain in the glitch section that's not really the deciding factor, but instead one way to become a glitch. used to be the only way to become a glitch!
also essence can be damaged like su gems can but the effects are... different. i think. i think gems die if their gems are damaged and not repaired (idk i haven't watched that show in years) but that isn't necessarily the case with essence. a lot of characters with damaged essence won't die unless it's like. ground into sand. maybe small chunks. something like that. big chunks can be fixed, but doesn't fix the character. it makes them worse, actually.
pieces of essence from different people can be fused together, and this can make characters Really Fucked Up. ala the tommie/tommy situation (tommie created with his own and a couple other characters' essence, becomes an abusive piece of shit. tommy created from the remainder of tommie's essence and no one else, entire appearance/personality/birth sex changes but is a good person).
i think that's everything about essence lmao this is already a lot
didn't really need to explain that, i say, as i know literally anyone other than me would be really confused if i didn't
anyways. Glitches.
a glitch is a specific character state with damaged essence. not every character with damaged essence is a glitch, but every glitch has essence damage. like squares being rectangles.
glitches were inspired by that one guy in tawog. wish i could remember his name /ref
glitches have more power the more their essence is damaged. can potentially be infinite, barely.
it's permanent, until they die completely, since essence can't truly be restored.
i have three glitches rn and they all have their stories on how they became glitches. so like.
oliver
i genuinely forgot about oliver in rtr (second generation in main timeline) so i made up for that by just. putting him in the void. with the rest of the characters that didn't make it into the story.
he became a glitch through something called void rot, which is a physical manifestation of me forgetting details about a character over time. his broken eye switched sides because i forgor
he fought against the void (encouraging void rot) and eventually started his own generation because of that due to Circumstances but that's its own looooong infodump's worth of explaining so i'm not gonna fuckin. talk about that. at least not here. maybe later.
cassie
cassie and The Gang (zac, rebs, scraps) were waltzing their way into the "loading docks" (the void but stable; basically the area that connects all of the generation doors) after i was done writing the story at that time, and she was knocked into the void by oliver bc he didn't want competition.
rebs is actually the one in control of the generation but oliver didn't realize that until later. cassie was an easy target for his anger.
she's probably the most stable glitch out of the three bc keeping her base form comes naturally to her and doesn't tire her out (she does still has a glitch form), but the weakest as well.
she's the type of person that's extremely forgiving, but she only forgave oliver because her stepson married him. the relationship between them is still really awkward/strained.
eyes
eyes was kidnapped by some guy and experimented on. i don't remember the exact reason why, but this guy wanted to cure some mental illness (i'm definitely retconning something by saying it's itfd* but it's not a retcon if it isn't published) and become a god. he accidentally made eyes a god (glitch) in the process instead and stayed normal.
actually this is the best time to mention that glitches can steal life from literally anyone with essence. they have to be caught off guard, weakened, or conditioned for this to happen, though.
that's important because eyes is different from oliver and cassie, in that his essence damage is so extreme and makes him so unstable that his life slowly drains away. he could easily die from this. to combat this, he gets others close to him (through manipulation) and drains their essence to keep himself alive.
so eyes leeched life off of the guy who made him like this until it killed him, then moved onto other people. lovesick and eyes on me (two stories from gen 6, four years apart in-universe) expand on this more but, as i put in the carrd, these two stories (plus a couple others) come from a bad time in my life and i don't like talking about certain details in them. the whole "curing a mental illness" thing (even if it didn't work) is already kinda fucked up in hindsight. that's one of the only things i'm allowing myself to say from that era.
ever since eom was canned he hasn't showed up in the current hyperfixed story at all. but that's normal bc this current subgen is realistic and full of healing and eyes would kinda ruin that whole vibe.
the lore of eom (and the other "bad time" stories) stays but the story doesn't. eyes still has three people to leech off of right now (currently in the story it's 2030), it's just in the background.
nearly forgot this but when eyes was active, he targeted oliver and cassie because he believed that if he drains their essence, he won't have to drain anyone else. yeah that didn't work they fought him off.
*itfd: intermittent thoughts/feelings disorder. mental illness stemming off of schizophrenia that revolves around believing you're in a false world and are a character in some story, and believing there's someone more powerful than you out there controlling your every move. which is the truth but no one in-universe (other than oliver, eyes, and maybe zac) knows that it's true.
also some fun facts about eyes leeching off of people (mainly just about the people involved) because i feel like it:
so for a little bit of context, lovesick was this idea of a dating simulator, i really don't like to talk about it much just because of the gimmick of it (i'll give a hint: it's an anime archetype. no other hints). there's more reasons but i'm Not Saying Anything Else About It.
the og guy that eventually died, paz, didn't really have much of a personality other than "weird secret dateable character". still doesn't. also he doesn't have a single colored picture but i've drawn him a couple times (not recently).
also another context thing. in eyes on me, eyes had three accomplices to do his work for him. the gang's all here in this post.
yuu was the main character of lovesick. i pretty much forgot everything about them, even what they looked like (there was One unfinished picture of them and akane, with just their hair drawn. i just filled in the cracks). i thought the memory loss from eyes manipulating them would be kinda cool to work with so it stuck. tbh void rot should 100% apply to them but i never really realized that until now. maybe i'll have to change that.
anabelle was hank's girlfriend who became abusive towards him when the whole life taking thing messed with her. she was always kind of manipulative in the first place but when eyes came into the picture things just got worse. in the current story she goes to jail because she was caught in the middle of hurting hank. haven't decided whether or not eyes abandoned her after this but i'm leaning towards no, since she can't run away from him anymore.
i thought about tommy being the third accomplice on and off and never really decided either way, but now i've fully (mostly) decided that he was. tommy is a character with fucky essence to start with because he's the remainder of tommie's essence after a shard of it fused with a couple other people's essence shards. tommie's so incredibly fucked up because of this, and tommy barely looks like him other than similar color palettes (they share most colors; tommy has more) due to the damage. as i explained earlier, but it should probably be mentioned again since i'm Actually Talking About Him this time.
none of them were given last names and i've told myself not to tag characters without last names (with exceptions, mainly nonhuman characters that don't have last names) so. maybe i'll come back and edit this post. maybe not. who knows
It is truly fascinating to go and make ocs because at first! The sillies! Then suddenly, you are struck by over two hundred pounds of crushing realization as it clicks into place what exact portion of your soul you just made into a little homunculs.
really need to write stories instead of just imagining them. yeah it might take a little longer but it'll be Written Down and Unforgotten. would be fun to tinker with ellipsus :>
currently thinking about v-anon. it's a xyn with no personality or likes or anything atm, which is honestly accurate bc at this point in thought it recently overcame a brain parasite that basically does that (vargas syndrome). it was also in a low mental health state, which is why it got this in the first place; it was like a sui attempt without actually committing to it (the parasite Can kill but there's a better chance of living with brain damage)
bc it's a xyn it can shapeshift but due to this shit it doesn't have a "correct" human form (which i started drafting today); it tries but it either results in deformed features or pain. it lives with a [work] partner and doesn't change forms when around her bc it freaks her out, but the main three xyn encourage it to try more when not around her as the story goes on. as it does it gains more control of its body and gains more joy and whimsy in its life too
this is where i feel like expanding lore... i've got nothing rn 😔 maybe i'll look up some prompts or something

I dunno man. I found out today that a subway sandwich is $14 now. A shitty subway footlong sandwich that isn't actually 12 inches long and is occasionally made with expired ingredients and was never a great option to start with. I ate those in high school because I was broke and at the mall a lot.
There are poke bowls in my city from a local place for $16. Super fresh fish and veg, warm rice, more than I can eat in one sitting, for the price of a sandwich and a drink at america's most mid-tier sandwich shop.
Someone in another post said (paraphrased) you used to be able to get something mediocre for cheap, but now the mediocre things cost as much as the nice things so why would you?
This is me when I realized I could get a proper bowl of curry from the fancy indian food place for basically the same price as a fuckin McDonald's hamburger meal these days
I heard an ad the other day for a "fantastic deal! Four dollar four inch subway snack sandwich!" And like. I'm sure that would seem like a much better deal I'd I wasn't one of the ones who grew up with obnoxious "five dollar foot long subway sandwich" ads.
A dollar an inch of sandwich. When it used to be 2.4 inches. 240% markup is GOOD? Fucking bite me
Yeah with fast food having delusions of grandeur these days it's really made me appreciate the non-chain food places in my area. The other day I went to the local Hawaiian BBQ place and discovered that they have teriyaki chicken AND Beef BBQ musubi for 3.99. and they come in pairs. PAIRS.
I KNOW.
So I immediately bought an order of each and had 4 delicious musubi and a drink for less than a combo at Burger King.
So yeah, show em we don't need their shit sandwiches.
There's some hilarious irony in that by creating an ad campaign so incredibly catchy and memorable that it entered public consciousness (the dream of any marketing team), Subway ensured everyone of a certain age range would view them as the poster child of fast-food price gouging.
back when i was a teenager i used to make these really special expand dong type edits with liquefied silly faces so. at the request of my friend, here is a modern day recreation of. That.
akane has had so much time to develop through several sub-gens and as such her chara info page is gonna have fucking. walls of text i guess. hope that's not bad
if i could finish her ref sketch like i wanted to earlier today >:(
