couldn't a homo outrun a t rex ?
only over short distances!
and the problem with that is, while we humans like to pump our status as persistence predators, it's starting to look more and more like the OG persistence predator was T Rex itself!
adult rexes may have been able to keep up a steady amble for hours and hours! you may outpace it at first, but eventually it WILL catch up to you, if for no other reason then that its legs are longer.
fear not, though, an adult T Rex likely would have no real reason or inclination to go out of its way to eat a weird upright monkey! think about it- T Rex's normal prey was giant animals like Triceratops that clocked in at double-digit tons, while a human is what, 200? 300 pounds? it would be like a human going out of their way to eat a songbird.
(yes, I know the Romans ate songbirds. we don't talk about Romans on this blog.)
so if you looked up one day and saw a massive adult T Rex cresting a hill in the distance, no reason for panic!
unless you see juvenile T Rexes with it. that's when you need to start running for cover.
