Katniss thinking that Peeta is dad material in the Catching Fire book is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

Everyone keeps talking about Katniss’s reaction to Peeta’s eyelashes but I think my favourite ‘moment of denial’ is when she’s hurt and confused that Peeta hasn’t hugged or kissed her since the Quell announcement as if that’s something she should expect out of her ‘not boyfriend.’ She is SO offended. Not even a hug???

no because like the moment where peeta and katniss were going back and forth fighting about the other being talented/a strong contender for the Games is so great because katniss was exposing the fact that she pays attention to what peeta does/says "peeta is so strong and he can lift big sacks of flour and he has big arms!!" and peeta's like "yeah well my mom said you were more likely to win than me, and you don't know the effect you can have on people" and katniss's oblivious ass is like "tf does he mean idk what effect i have on ppl is he talking abt how ppl hate me so much omg" and then in the corner is just a Live Haymitch Reaction

this is probably where haymitch got the idea for peeta to pull the star crossed lovers strategy out because they were literally both acting like children with very obvious crushes on one another and they were so blatant and unserious about it

Peeta teased Katniss that when she was sleeping she wasn't scowling, which improved her looks and just made me think of how Peeta watched this girl go from a happy, singing child to a scowling, guarded girl. How he must have wanted to offer her some kind of reprieve from her unhappiness. And once he's given the opportunity, he brings out her smiles and laughter. How much he must love seeing her face light up before returning to its reservations. And then how postwar, he works out her first smile since Prim died, then her first laugh, and brings back the love in her eyes. That eventually they get to the point where when she's with Peeta, she no longer scowls because he softens the hardness of her grief with his bright yellow hope.
