I’m re-reading the entirety of the Fourth Wing series and I figured it out. How they will defeat the venin.

What is the only answer to death?

The Gods.

The Gods fought in the original battle 600 years ago and that is the only chance they have to win again. Forget forging alliances with the Isles, Violet needs to start fighting for an alliance with Dunne and Malek.

Props to Florence Pugh for showing how Yelena gets the proverbial air knocked out of her when Sentry tells her she doesn't really know him. But I think it's also interesting to see that touch of pain in Sentry's voice and expression as he lets her know what he basically tells Valentina a few moments later: "It isn't Robert you should be afraid of." It's Void, of course. It's almost as if he's telling Yelena: "I'm sorry, but I can get so much worse than this, and I don't think you're going to like it (or me). I don't want to let you down with whatever it is that you thought you saw in me."

I love this about Bob because I do think he's resistant to being loved (sweetheart isn't even used to it, when family history has shown him this too, I'm gonna cry) - so of course he's going to doubt and warn her in a way. But she won't have it. She'll go somewhere no one else has, to the deepest darkest corners of his trauma, to find him and take him home. She'll literally wrap him in her arms to fend him off from himself. And (hopefully) that's the last time he underestimates her love for him and how far she'll go for her Bob ❤️‍🩹

It's interesting to think that Bob actually did have some control in the Void, whether consciously or subconsciously.

He kept showing up in mirrors to Yelena so she knew exactly where he was and after she said she wanted to talk, he actively allowed her in! He had control over at least that one room. And we have to assume that he was allowing the others to find each other and them too because how else would they have done so?

So Bob wasn't fully weak there - he desperately wanted Yelena and the others to find him and he helped them do exactly that 😭

Can't stop fuckin thinkin about Bob and Yelena. The took the saddest, most burnt out woman in the world and paired her with sunshinest, wettest dog boy in all of history and defeated The Evil™ with the power of Hug™. There's just such an incredible tenderness between them. They instantly have a bond so special I couldn't care less if they're best friends or lovers or a QPR or whatever- the point is they're both locked in for LIFE now and God help anyone that tries to claw them apart.

I mean they really took a guy who looks like the human embodiment of the 🥺 emoji, introduced him to a woman who looks like Spongebob at the diner staring into his coffee and said there. There you go now you both have a reason to live and the world's better off. You're welcome.
