so i read the thrawn novel, and they were roommates-

At first, Ezra was uncertain of this stranger. He wore a uniform unlike any Imperial he’d ever seen. It was obvious that the man knew Thrawn—he had, after all, said his name before rushing to his side and babbling in some language Ezra could not begin to name. When the stranger seemed satisfied that Thrawn was indeed still alive, Ezra prepared to fend off an attack. It never came. The man merely stretched out his hand and greeted him in basic. 

 “My name is Eli Vanto. What the hell happened here?”
