Every adult Californian can now legally grow marijuana. It is an event that was destined to occur. Before you get started growing, though, there are some rules. Here’s what you should know: -The minimum age is 21 -Possess no more than 6 plants at a time -Grow only where you live, where it cannot be seen -Carry no more than 28.5 grams, leave the rest at home -Cities can prohibit outdoor growing, but not indoor growing Be sure to check you local laws and regulations. Your rooms will need an exhaust fan - a fan that moves air out of an enclosure. As well as a wall mount fan that creates air movement. Ideal temperature in your "Veg room" should stay in the mid 70's You can attach a temperature gage to your exhaust fan. these are easily found at your local horticultural store or on line. Find one used! Vegetive State The light cycle changes acts as a signal to the cannabis plant that it is time to begin flowering. Anything equal to or less than 12 hours of light will trigger flowering in cannabis plants. By leaving my lights on for 18 hours it is telling my plants to grow big and not bloom quite yet. The vegetative stage is perhaps the most misleading for new growers as cannabis plants do not require 24 hours of light to stay in veg. In fact, plants need some down time, just like humans. Keeping them under 24 hours of light essentially keeps them awake and driving hard without any rest. Most advanced growers will utilize a 20-hour or even an 18-hour light cycle during the vegetation stage, giving the plants 4-6 hours of dark time to rest. Another little known fact is that the roots grow and develop during the dark hours, which is critical for the development of young plants. Roots also breathe in oxygen and this occurs much more prominently during the nighttime hours. It is for these reasons that giving your plants a few hours of darkness during their vegetative stage is recommended (at Blessed Coast Farms)
