Cancer Update
Hey folks, just as a heads up, the breast cancer I've been fighting since June has metastasized to my cerebral spinal fluid, which modern medicine currently has no cure for. There are treatments that might extend my life with some good quality, but it's unpredictable how I will respond to them, as is the progression of the cancer itself. The doctors are giving me 2-12 months, but I could just have a stroke at any time. So I'm officially a terminal case.
As a quick aside, a reminder that this is my trashfire reblog account, if you'd like to just see my original art, writing, and sewing, head over to @mariaarnt. I do reblog most of that over here, so you don't need to follow both, but if you just want to see my stuff, following there will save your dash a lot of extra nonsense.
I plan to be posting there a lot about my bucket list projects, including a full Edwardian outfit and as many books as I can crank out while I'm still clearheaded.
So what does this mean about this blog?
First of all, I can no longer promise to tag reliably. I will still try, but fast-reblogging a bajillion things I like all at once is a big coping thing for me. I assume all of you are here because you like the results. But if you asked for the Reylo tag or have only been following me because I do, please unfollow me if not having it tagged is going to cause you a problem.
Secondly, porn bots. I don't get a new follower every day, so I've been able to screen every single one and block the bots (plus one TERF!). I don't know how long I'll be able to commit to that, and after I'm gone, no one is going to be running my blogs. So heads up on that.
A lot of people have been asking me what they can do to help. I am surrounded by an incredibly supportive group of family and friends. All of my needs are being met. If you'd really like to donate money, my sister is dedicating her yearly relay for life to me; it's Maria's Merry Minstrels (I'll put a link in a reblog so tumblr doesn't eat this post).
And, of course, you can buy my book. I'll update this post with more books as they come out too.
Thank you so much for all the fun times I've had here. Tumblr has been my favorite social media experience. It feels so much like the internet back in my college days - absolute dumpster fire, but everyone was anonymous and could interact freely about all kinds of fannish nerdery, without worrying what we looked like to employers, coworkers, family, or anyone else you could remotely expect to meet in person except maybe at a con. A great time all around.
