Deaf!Steve and HoH!Billy

They meet at Chicago's rally for deaf and hard of hearing people.

Billy wears hearing aids, Steve is a big advocate for ASL.

Billy wants to learn, Robin translates for them (she knows ASL from being a CODA.

Steve agrees to teach him.

Robin realizes that Steve likes Billy before Steve does. Billy comes into Scoops almost every day to taunt (make poor attempts to flirt with) Steve and he starts showing up with the dirtiest little hint of a moustache.

Steve won’t stop talking about it to Robin as it grows. Commenting on its size, how it changes the shape of Billy’s face, makes Billy look harsher and more grown up, how Billy should just shave the stupid thing off.

Robin asks Steve if he thinks it’s healthy or normal for him to be obsessed with someone else’s facial hair, and tells him he should maybe think about what this obsession means, but he brushes her off.

Steve’s eyes grow wide when one day he’s again grousing about Billy’s moustache, and completely unbidden, it slips out of his mouth that he wonders what it would feel like to kiss Billy with that scratchy little moustache.

Robin can barely get in an “I told you so” before Steve tells her he has to take a break to be alone with his thoughts.
