♠️ moment of recollection
A lone heart of spades was layed out on a dim-lit table as Will turned it over, coffee hues probing the design in a spaced thought. Rain trickled the window pane in a streak of transparent lines, their thin stream flowing down with the inertia of time. Her breath fogged the window, while she let out a listless sigh at the unfavorable scenery. Surely, there were better things a person could be doing than closing themselves in a room at the slightest drizzle. Even so, the Vandom house received the misfortune of having their electricity go out and the young girl was left with only a deck of cards to ease her fit of boredom.
“I wonder how Elyon’s doing. It has been awhile since we visited her. Not getting in an argument with her royal mentor there, I hope.”
She chucked to herself lightly, a melancholic sentiment streaking her senses at the thought of Vatek, Miriadel, Galgheita, and all their other friends in Miridian. Will could even feel a lighthearted tear start to form in her eye, but a sudden phone call snapped her out of the daydream. Fishing out the old cellphone from her pocket, her pupils instantly shrunk at the name on the screen.
”E-Elyon?“
It had been days since her departure from Meridian, and Elyon had yet to hear from her friends and parents. While the saying ‘no news is good news’ kept playing in her head, she couldn’t help but be nervous. Surely, everything was alright? Phobos.....he wasn’t hunting anyone, was he?
Sighing for what felt like the hundredth time, Elyon stared gloomily at her crown. Try as she might, she’d been unable to reopen a portal back tom Meridian or Heatherfield. Was she simply just too far away, or was it something more sinister? She shook her head abruptly. No. There was no point in thinking thought like that, it wouldn’t do her any good.
Idly, Elyon pulled her cellphone out of her pocket, scrolling though the contacts. It was a stupid idea...but it wouldn’t hurt anyone. Heck, given how far away she was, she wasn’t even sure if it would work in this city or not. Choosing a name at random, Elyon hit call, mildly surprised to hear a ringing tone emit from the phone. Then she almost leaped in shock as a familiar voice sounded through the device. There....there was just no way....!
“W-will?! Will, it that really you?!”
