While It Lasts
I used to think flowers were a lovely gesture, just not something I would ever choose for myself. Even if they made me feel special, I couldn’t help but see them as impractical. Why spend on something that’s already on its way out, I’d wonder.
But maybe that’s the point.
Flowers don’t pretend to last. They don’t ask to be kept forever. They just bloom, quietly and fully. And somehow, that makes you pause. It makes you notice. It makes you feel something right now, not later.
I used to think they would have lasted longer if they had just been left alone, still growing somewhere else. But now it feels more like a reminder that not everything beautiful is meant to stay the same or stay with us.
Some things are meant to be felt, appreciated, and let go.
And maybe we miss too much of life trying to make everything last.
