âMoney doesnât change men, it merely unmasks them. If a man is naturally selfish or arrogant or greedy, the money brings that out, thatâs all.â
â Henry Ford (1863-1947) American industrialist Â
âThe higher the leader goes, the deeper his character must develop. The larger the outward privilege, the larger the inward character must be.â

âEvery act of conscious learning requires the willingness to suffer an injury to oneâs self-esteem. That is why young children, before they are aware of their own self-importance, learn so easily.â

âTo the economically illiterate, if some company makes a million dollars in profit, this means that their products cost a million dollars more than they would have without profits. It never occurs to such people that these products might cost several million dollars more without the incentives to be efficient created by the prospect of profits.â
â Thomas Sowell (1931-) American economist Â
Almost every Ivy League grad wants to move to the same place after school
The Wall Street Journal collected data from 445 prominent universities to track where alums move after graduation.
Business Insider looked at where Ivy League graduates move after earning their degrees and for the most part, they all move to the same places.
New York City was the No. 1 destination for graduates of all but two Ivy League schools.

The Power Of Delegation
Leaders who canât or wonât delegate create a bottleneck to productivity. So why do some leaders fail to delegate effectively?
1. Insecurity 2. Lack of confidence in others 3. Lack of ability to train others 4. Personal enjoyment of the task 5. Habit 6. Inability to find someone else to do it 7. Lack of time 8. An âI do it bestâ mind-set
If you recognize yourself in any of the issues above, you probably arenât doing enough delegating. âJohn Maxwell

great stuff.
I Never Knew I Was at a Toxic WorkplaceâUntil I Went to a Healthy One.
I love my current workplace. I mean, the work itself is incredibly difficult: grief counseling at a hospital, notifying family members of an accident, bringing up end-of-life decisions. But it makes a difference to have co-workers who are more than faceless employees. We are fellow sojourners on a mission together.
One of my previous workplaces was not like this. There was bullying, nepotism, high suspicion, and hateful gossip. The people were just mean. No one cared about seeing the best in each other. Every call or email from the higher-ups would throw me into a panic. Of course, I had my issues too. But I walked through them alone, alienated, with constant dread.
I recognize now that Iâm lucky. At my current job, weâre all on the same page, we pause and listen, we clarify our communication without fear of retaliation. We deeply care about each other and the work we do.
The thing is, I didnât know how awful my previous job was until I landed where I am.
My guess is that most of us will tolerate an abusive, toxic, punishing work environment because âIâm paying my duesâ or âThis is all I can get right now.â And thatâs true. We often have to do things we donât like to get where we want to be. We can still thrive in those places. Sometimes itâs the best we can do, and we can still be our best there.
My hope is that if youâre stuck at a harmful workplace, you still wouldnât let it determine your worth. To not let it push you around. To not let it exploit you. Itâs a privilege to have a job, but a job at the cost of your soul isnât okay.
I say all this knowing weâre not all so lucky. I speak from a place of high blessing. I live a first-world life. Our situations vary so much. But I do remember how much I was abusedâand I wish I had those years back. My youth and time and talent were stolen. I remember now that everyone was telling me to quit, but I stayed out of loyalty and the hope âthings could change.â
Whatâs crazy now is I sometimes feel guilty that I love my job so much. I feel ashamed when I hear others hate their jobs. Then I realize how truly crazy it is that workplaces get away with so much abuse. Something is desperately sick in our culture when I should feel ashamed to work in a good place. Still, I feel very guilty. Itâs like I canât function normally in a healthy relationship anymore. Iâm trying.
Only now do I realize that most abused people end up as a sympathetic hostage and attempt to stay because of âsunk costââtheyâve already invested so much. Itâs scary to leave. I wish I had the courage then. I hope I have the courage the next time, and that weâd all be so blessed to love the best we can where we are.
â J.S.
Everything will line up perfectly when knowing and living the truth becomes more important than looking good.
Alan Cohen (via yesdarlingido)
Nothing in this world is permanent, and weâre foolish when we ask anything to last, but surely weâre still more foolish not to take delight in it while we have it.
The Razorâs Edge, W. Somerset Maugham (b. 25 January 1874)
Does it bother anyone else that there are parts of your life you donât remember? You have done and said things that you donât even know about anymore. That means you donât even have the right perception of yourself because you donât even fully know who you are. However, something that youâve forgotten about could be a prominent memory in somebody elseâs mind. It trips me out.
you have to admit there are some joys in life that can only be felt due to hardship. a common example is steaming hot showers. it takes a cold day, or a sickness, for someone to experience the joy of a hot shower. you canât enjoy it in the heat. then thereâs the joy of a fulfilling sleep, often achieved through a tiring day. and thereâs the joy of a reunion, achieved through separation. and there are many more examples. sometimes difficulty carries a special range of joys and thatâs something to be thankful about.
