We're celebrating an epic summer with The Op Games, who is giving away a prize pool of amazing games to 600 winners, worth over $11,000! Thi
im really loving the resurgence of trick-taking card games for the last few years. I feel like a lot of people -- not just board gamers -- sometimes forget how everywhere trick-taking games used to be. Hearts, Bridge, Spades...all classic trick-taking games that most people knew how to play.
and there's a reason these games were so popular for so long -- because they are easy to learn, hard to master, and have a really good amount of strategic depth. But for a really long time, the modern board game scene just kindof...ignored them? and then The Crew: Quest For Planet Nine -- a cooperative, limited-communication trick taking game -- released to massive critical acclaim, and now "trick taking games with a twist" are everywhere!
anyways, i'm super excited for Cat in the Box, which is quite possibly the hardest-to-explain trick-taking game i have personally encountered. I'm hoping i get to play it with some friends tonight. Also the art is great, and i should totally post some pics of it.

One of my favorite games from last year!
These are some great games you can play with all (most) ages! I also recommend cooperative games and party games for family time, and I've already put out a video on my Top 10 Cooperative Games and my Top 10 Party Games.
It's All Funny & Games brings great comedians together to play through some fun board games, card games, and more. On this episode, we check out 3 Of A Kind - one of the best 'think like other people' games out there. It's full of weird and funny combinations, and you only get points if you write the same thing as others.

While playing Codenames I took a turn as spymaster. My words that round were incredibly disparate and I was frantically trying to get more than one per round.
So I looked at my spread and inadvertently said, “Oh my god, that’s a bummer.” This got me scolded by the fucking rule police.
And my wife, on the other team, looked at the layout of 20-25 words (I can’t be bothered to look it up) and instantly exclaimed, “I know what you’re doing.”
“That’s impossible!” I said, blatantly ignoring our drift compatibility.
They started texting me and when my turn came I announced, “9/11, for two,” to make my team guess both “Plane” and “America”.
My wife held up their phone on which they’d written, “You’re going to say 9/11.”
I can't believe Candles of Vienna caved to commercial pressure and added the Goku expansion.
