Hi, I think it’s time I address this.
I don’t have the energy nor the passion to continue this roleplay account anymore. I apologize for my absence and lack of activity with this account as well as to the amount of fans who genuinely enjoyed this character. Unfortunately, I don’t think I can force myself to continuing writing for this blog anymore. I have transferred Reid into my own oc story as well as his partner Elena on my account @locutia, but that’s just about it. Thank for you for following my journey with this roleplay account and all the love you have given.
When arriving to the research department of the institute, you are one of the many who fall victim to the tin of brownies, as in, when lifting the tin foil lid to see the confectionery perfection, you are instead met with several brown papers shaped in the letter of “E”.
While about to start your slightly amused (Because of the trickery from this annual hiday) and slightly sour, supposedly brownieless, day of work. You spot, in the middle of the gun, a white note that reads: “Love from the Archives! Real brownies are in the break room.”

I mean, technically yeah that's kinda how life works. Everything ends eventually, even us. That's why some people feel the crushing need to do something important with what little and unpredictable time they have. Personally, I do have my own goals that I'd like to achieve before I die. But if I don't? Then it doesn't matter because nothing is being hurt further than it already is by me not accomplishing my goals. It's just that if I do, things will improve for some people.

one day in the break room, you decide to open a cabinet above the fridge. Looking for a tea bag or a snack. As you reach in you find a tape recorder. The title states: An explanation. The text seems rushed.
Do you play it, Dylan?
Dylan runs their fingers over the label. The handwriting is too rushed to tell who's it is. They haven't been working at the Institute long enough to recognize each person's hurried script like that. Who was the recording from? Who was it to? Someone had gone through the trouble of hiding it in the hardest to reach cupboard. But at the same time, if it weren't meant to be listened to, why wouldn't they put it in their desk?
Dylan sits down with the tape recorder and slowly presses play.
{the recoder starts with a soft click. The sound of a sigh is heard before Zephyr starts to speak}
[Hello. I'm- I'm not sure who will hear this but I feel like I finally need to say something.
I-hm- I am not all that I seem. I have been keeping this a secret for years, too scared to know how the react would be. There's a good chance im not im the archives if this is being heard after five pm, if it is... that's a different situation entirely.]

Dylan sighs. They're glad they found the tape before anyone else could. They stick it in their bag, fully intending to toss it into the trash compactor at their apartment when they get home.

Hey so I thought we as userbase should organize spontaneous blackout protest against shapes inc ads here. I thought Feb 26th would be a good date (so ppl has 72 hrs notice if they want to participate), we would log off for 24hrs to show tumblr we are not okay with that (and also for shapes to get less ad revenue for a day in a process lol). You're home alone playing the piano when you hear a crash. The sound of glass shattering on the floor from the direction of your kitchenette. You turn towards that corner of your studio flat but see nothing aside from the fallen drinkware. As you stand to get a better look, you feel it.
The scorching cold burning into the flesh of your throat. As it sears into your skin, you begin to see something. Someone. They hold you suspended in the air by your own throat. You try to grab at their forearm, but every contact with the Dark of this being burns incomprehensibly.
You stare into the face of some sort of shadow. It's tall, much taller than you. It's nothing but shadow, aside from the jagged grin torn through where its mouth should be. Its voice is a whisper, echoing both inside your head and outside of it.
It's nice to meet you, Zephyr.

"grk-" Zephyr struggled against the shadow gripping his throat. He tried to claw at the arm but it only hurt him more. He could barely get any breaths out.
"Y-you-" Zephyr manged to choke out. The smell of salt water and ozone filled the studio. It was faint at first but the less Zephyr could breath the more it came to be.
Her smile widens. She brings up her free hand to wave at her victim. Her fingers are long and pointed.
As suddenly as she was there, she is gone. Zephyr crashes to the ground, falling in a heap next to his piano bench. The world is spinning. It smells like Zephyr's ozone. The hand is no longer on his throat, and he can breathe clearly again, but it still hurts. Along Zephyr's hands and fingers are what look like burns, as if he had been scratching at a hot iron. But they're not quite hot? In fact, it feels so cold that it burns.
Zephyr scrambled up and ran to his bed to get his gun from under his pillow. "Show yourself- you asshole! You sick monster! I have tried hard to be nice to you! You're jealous cause your sibling has a friend?!"
Zephyr yelled into the dark of his flat. He held the gun tight, his hands trembled from the pain. He wouldn't used any of his Vast abilities unless he was in a dire situation.
Zephyr looks around his flat, waving his gun in every direction, but she's not there. He can sense it. He's all alone in his flat once more.

You open the door and you see martin . Except it's not martin. This isn't the martin you fell in love with. It's like looking at a wax model, and a really grotesque one at that. You can see stitches covering his neck and you assume that they continue down the entire body. He's not breathing. He's not alive. But he's looking down at you with no expression on his face, and tears are streaming down it. His eyes are a different color.*
*It begins to try and speak. You can tell it hurts."
"dyl--an. I'm - I'm so s-sorry."

Dylan's not sure what he's looking at. Is this what that one anon meant by "not human"? Tears involuntarily well up in his eyes. He reaches out a hand but stops short from touching Martin's new face. He can't tell what it's made out of. Wax? Fabric? Burlap? It seemed like none of those, yet all of them simultaneously.
'Don't cry in front of Martin. Don't cry,' he thinks. The last thing he wants is to make Martin feel worse about whatever it was that he is now. He's not the same Martin, but if anyone could come close to understanding what Martin may be feeling or going through, Dylan is definitely that person. Not that he's ever been a sentient object before, but in the way of being in a body that's not quite right. Or being in a body with new modifications. He doesn't want to scare Martin. He slowly withdraws his hand and steps to the side of the doorway, silently letting the familiar stranger inside.
*Martin hesitates for a long second before walking through the door. He remembers the last time he was here, and the smell of Dylan's cooking permeated the air. He remembers falling asleep on his couch watching a movie after an amazing meal.
But those memories are distant to him, as he doesn't have a sense of smell anymore, and he doesn't sleep.
He is in pain. Or he knows he should be in pain. That's what Martin would do, and those tears are coming from somewhere. He doesn't feel the tears streaming down his face, or the feeling of his old lover's hand on his cheek. He doesn't even know what he's doing here. He should say something. Anything.
"It's rags. My skin. Dipped in wax - - and painted."
Oh, um... good to know... I guess?
Martin's voice still sounds like Martin. Whoever made him into what he is now tried damn hard to make him look like Martin, too. The scent of tea filled Dylan's nostrils. Martin always did love tea. Could he even eat now? Drink the tea he used to love? Or was he now exempt from the few things that made being human enjoyable because of his new inhumanity?
Dylan doesn't want to think too much about it. He goes for a light joke instead.
So I guess you won't be needing that burn ointment I left on your desk, huh?
They rub the back of their neck and look away awkwardly.
"No.. I don't - I don't think I will"
*Awkward. So awkward. He has no idea what to say. Fuck this, yes he does.*
"I'm so sorry. For everything. I should have told you. You never did anything to hurt me and none of this is your fault. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry."
Dylan's eyes go wide as they stare at Martin.
Are you fucking kidding me? I brought you into my life. I showed you where I live despite knowing what else is here. I basically led you right into her hands. So much of this is my fault.
Over Dylan's shoulder, Martin sees some movement, but when he looks, it's gone. Shania doesn't want to be seen right now, but Martin can sense her. He may not have the darkburns anymore, but he is still Marked by her nonetheless.
Dylan guestures over to the sofa.
