being  pulled  aside  to  talk  to  a  teacher ?   humiliating .   the  thought  of  staying  after  class  to  talk  to  her  would  have  been  painless  if  janis  had  initiated  it ,    but  being  asked  to  stay  after  class  in  the  middle  of  class ?    dread  filled  the  pit  of  their  stomach ,    this  was  going  to  end  up  with  them  hospitalized  again  if  they  even  so  much  as  mention  anything  that’s  going  on    —–     and  they  were  sure  of  that .

the  ‘ i  can  tell  your  upset ’   sets  something  off  in  janis .    they  cannot  tell  if  it’s  just  fight  or  flight ,    sadness ,    or  even  anger  towards  the  older  woman .     “ it’s  all  good .     everything  is  fine . ”     their  voice  wavers ,    a  fault  to  it .

“ ‘m  not  upset ,   it’s  just  life ,   y’know ?   it  goes  on . ”    lying  about  it  helps  them  for  a  second ,    but  then  they’re  lead  to  a  complete  breakdown .    they’ve  cracked .     once  every  student ,   even  those  lingering ,    had  left    —-    janis  broke  down .

the  concern  in  the  older  woman’s  eyes  grows  stronger  as  she  watches  her  student  crumble  before  her.  she  knows  how  strong  janis  is,  so  she’s  sure  they  must  be  incredibly  pained  to  let  their  guard  fall.

she’s  almost  unsure  what  to  do  in  this  moment.  it’s  a  lot  of  emotions  at  once,  and  sparks  more  within  herself  than  she  had  anticipated.

“hey,”  emersyn  murmurs,  her  voice  softened  but  still  with  a  stern  undertone.  “‘just  life’  isn’t  supposed  to  feel  like  that.”  the  teacher  grabs  a  chair  and  sets  it  by  her  student,  gesturing  for  her  to  sit  down  so  she  can  calm  herself.  “i’m  here  for  you.  and  not  in  a  halfhearted  way.  i  mean  it.”

this is a reminder that i literally do not care if you reply in five minutes, five months, five years.  still owe me something and want to start something new? go for it.  still owe me something and want to answer memes or send memes instead? go for it.  just not jiving with it and want to do something with a different character? go for it.  need to disappear into the wilderness and scream at the sky for a few years? no problem.  you take any and all the time you need.  this is a hobby, it is for fun, it should not ever cause you stress.  you do what you want to do when you want to do it.  i will never be mad bc you drop something or it takes a year for you to answer it.  this is a collaborative hobby that we do for enjoyment and if it isn’t fun, if it isn’t sparking joy, do something else. you take care of you.
