"Free Your Mind" by Cut CopyÂ
Cut Copy's New Video Includes a SkarsgÄrd
Electronica music is thriving, and it seems undoubtedly that a lot of this music is coming from Australia and bits of Europe. Almost every article I read or interview Iâve hosted with musicians in the EDM world or likewise have mentioned Australia. Cut Copy is one of the solids in a crowd of wavering comers and goers. EDM has given a pulse back into the electronica world, so to speak, but as Iâve learned itâs only opened the doors for classics to return. Cut Copy is due to release their fourth studio recorded album Free Your Mind on November 5, 2013. After their formation in 2001, the four man band grew to reach genres that include indietronica, new wave, dance-punk, and the very relevant synthpop. It was their second studio recorded album in 2008, In Ghost Colours, that allowed their breakthrough and chart topping hits like âHearts On Fireâ, âLight & Musicâ, and âFeel The Loveâ.
In September the band secretly informed their fans that if they were to visit selected billboards in one of six locations (Mexico, Australia, Chile, California, UK, and Detroit) that they would be granted access to an app that allowed them to stream Free Your Mind in itâs entirety. Cut Copy recently released another prelude to their forthcoming album in form of a music video for their single âFree Your Mindâ. As if the band needed the extra views, they added Scandinavian gold, also known as Alexander SkarsgĂ„rd. The videoâs star plays a long-haired cult leader in charge of a Puma tracksuit clad gang. Odd, isnât it? But I guess we donât all get cults so letâs just focus on the hot guy with abs and the great music playing as we watch. View for yourselves here, but answer me this...where does this cult leader go in the end? Is he finally tired from what I would presume would be a grueling and daunting task as cult leader, father figure, god? His urine is monitored, as he monitors others. Heâs constantly desired and seeâs relationships peril in the name sake of ...well, whomever he is. Could he ever really love any one person in this group, and would it be real? He takes off in search of his roots, in just his underwear, into the cornfield. My daydream may just be nonsense, forgive me, I did spent plenty of time staring at a torso while pondering. Cut Copy is planning a world tour this coming November in leu of their record release. Check local listings for a show in your area.Â

iT! Reviews: Drake's Nothing Was The Same (II)
Drake följer upp 2012 Ärs supernova pÄ hiphophimmelen, albumet Take Care med fler instant hits Àn jag har fingrar pÄ mina hÀnder (jag har alla kvar), med albumet Nothing was the same och hÀr följer mina tvÄ cent:
Nothing was the same Ă€r en tacksam albumtitel att kommentera, dĂ„ mycket av Drakes nya lĂ„tar kĂ€nns relativt the same.

iT! Reviews: Drake's Nothing Was The Same
Iâm no huge hip hop head by any means. But growing up in Detroit, living in Chicago, and a father who bumped Red Man and Method Man regularly...I think I get it. That being said, I havenât really enjoyed any newer large hip hop leads. For example, Kanye never struck me as real. I mean, one song was humble and about jesus then money comes and heâs all âsuck my dick, I am godâ. What? Then there are ârappersâ like Lil Wayne, Ludacris, FloRida, and even 50 cent. All of which have shared tracks with Disney super stars, pop queens, and promote their  new feature film blah blah blah.
I say all this then drop the ball big time when it comes to Drake. I like Drake, I do. But this didnât come easily. First, I thought who is this Degrassi wheel chair kid rapping about âthe gameâ? Then there were his remixes and hits from Thank Me Later. Still, not much there I liked. Finally, Take Care came and for some reason I latched on. Perhaps it was my solemn move to a new city, no friends, and a dreary constant overcast. But Take Care made me feel like I was walking around the streets of Chicago, not Zurich.
Drake dwells over a love lost, relationshipâs failed, and exâs that remain. He strives for more than the struggle and shares memories of being the dope ass dude with the Acura. These relatable and real subjects joined with his sensual and dark melodious tones make the R&B singer a new found (underground) king. Homage is paid to Marvin Gaye, as he recorded tracks in the same studio and even naming a song after him (âMarvinâs Roomâ); a clear influence on his record. Robust minimalistic beats and a 90âs era feel wave any trepidation that the album could have been over looked by releases of other music giants, such as The XX that same summer. Drakeâs Take Care stood strong.
Nothing Was the Same, leaked intentionally as Drake so often does, to the general population weeks early. Everyone was thirsty for what Drake had up his sleeve since his summerâs bash âStarted From The Bottomâ set records and made nights. And, as the unashamed Drake fan, I couldnât wait to have a new album to listen to over, and over, and over again. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Number one, âTuscan Leatherâ, was a huge initial let down for me. I wrote down in my notes, âweak, sounds the sameâ. And as the album continued I was sorry to admit, I liked only a handful of songs. Lingering tracks include: âHold On Weâre Going Homeâ, âFurthest Thingâ, âFrom Timeâ, and âCome Throughâ. I had to double check number fifteen, âAll Meâ, thinking it was the Trinidad James hit: âAll Gold Everythingâ or better yet, Lil Wayneâs âGood Kush & Alcoholâ.
Perhaps Drake outdid himself, too many tracks on the list, too many baby mama dramas, and all the same beats (to an untrained ear, let me note). I want to believe your relationship issues, I do, Drake. But how much time do you have on your hands and how many bitches are you juggling?

iT! Interviews: Elise Swopes, Instagram Goddess  (PART 1)
Nowadays your social media number is everything. Want your blog, tumblr, band, small business or brand to have any funding then you have to show them the numbers. Number of page views per day, followers, buys via the link you provided and so on. How many likeâs do you have? Itâs no surprise that there are now small businesses that provide you with followers, given a small fee of course. The more you pay, the higher number of followers your receive. And you can even pay to have followers from the U.S. only (whereas the cheapest would likely grant you followers from places unheard), so you donât look like âyou paid for your followers.â Elise Swopes is one social media savvy who certainly does not need to pay for her followers.Â
With well over 181 thousand followers on Instagram alone, Elise Swopes or @Swopes (hashtag #swopesodope) started out with cat photos, selfies, and food pics just like the rest of us. Somehow, through some way of editing, layers, jokes, and a light hearted attitude, Elise Swopes has become the Instagram Goddess. Swopes has since been signed to a talent agency for her IG account and has been hired by acclaimed companies like Nike, Samsung, Apple, Coach, Dos Equise, and many more. What do they ask for? For Swopes to work her IG magic on an iPhone only photo and post it to her account. Done and done. Sounds pretty easy, huh? I thought to myself, I got to see where the Swopes goes to capture these epic photos. Who would have known it was right under my nose the whole time.Â
The following videos and photographs are from an âadventureâ, as Swopes calls it, following her steps, where she shoots, what she looks for, and the dangers that she faces. Following the photos and video will be a half hour interview with the Instagram Goddess herself about her beginnings, her tips for a great pic, what itâs like hanging with âThe Most Interesting Man In The Worldâ and more.

From Where I Stand: Stockholm Film Festival
Gillar man filmer om musik har man kunnat se âBeats, rhymes and lifeâ, âThe story of lovers rockâoch âAmerican hardcoreâ.Filmer om film har ocksĂ„ fĂ„tt stor plats i form av âComic con-A fans hopeâ , âOnce upon a time⊠A clockwork orangeâ och âAmerican grindhouseâ.
Programmet heter âUnder the rainbowâ.

It was in the winter of 2009 when I was turned on to Ra Ra Riot. I had caught a viewing of their music video for âCan You Tellâ; it was fun, crazy, up beat rock, and odd. I liked it all. I had seen them a small handful of times at festivals over the years but never really continued to keep on their tales for the latest albums. In fact, the New York rock band released a second album in 2010 named Orchid following up the EP with a plethora of live studio recordings and mixes. The few years that followed they were nominated for the 10th Annual Independent Music Awards, made appearances on hit television series and commercials. There bucks were flowing in, so rightly so, a new album was to emerge. In January of 2013, Ra Ra Riot released their third studio album, Beta Love. With this album the group has grown into a more synth-pop rock, and away from their usual baroque rock style.Â
I sat silently first row, practically falling over a violin, awaiting the appearance of Ra Ra Riot at the JBTV Studios in Chicago. I must have forgotten what they looked like, but made me giggle a bit to see their tech-y nerd look so endearingly earnest. The violinists weâre dressed wonderfully in a 90âs Drew Barrymore sort of way. Alright, what about the tunes? I must remind you, I went in without much expectation or favor. I went in with a few favorite songs and, well, only left with about two more. Their new synth-driven sound was not was I was fond of when I first paid attention to the band years ago. The high notes coupled with the lead singerâs higher than normal pitch, and the up beat beat. I found most of their songs to be too happy, too uplifting, and not enough feeling. âBeta Loveâ was cute, internet like romance, but still false. âDance With Meâ was something I could learn to love, but I really did enjoy âWildernessâ. It was slower, darker, more sensual, and felt more raw and innocent. Are you catching on to my musical likes? Anyway, Ra Ra Riot ended the show with a crowd favorite, âBoyâ. Itâs no wonder why this song was so popular in the media, so like-able to the masses. âBoyâ is fun, jumpy, and alive. I could bop to this for a few more years, but nothing more.Â
