I genuinely love the way that Nageki's isolation has led him to be kinda prickly/standoffish rather than more typically shy. I've said this before, but I love how his first reaction to Hiyoko talking to him (the first person he EVER REMEMBERS talking to) is to tell her to leave him alone. I love how despite him being among the kindest and most selfless characters in the game, despite being extremely perceptive and empathetic, his first instinct is often to lean further into his isolation. And I love how it's so important for his character to connect with others despite it not coming naturally to him.

when participating in the STR reanimate this year, I ended up looking reaaaaaaaaaaally closely at this dinner scene from Mekakucity Actors's 4th episode.

I got to participate in this one as well, and it's an honor to be part of the sendoff of these four collab reanimates of these Kagepro MVs!

Since I had free reign to animate whatever I felt fit, I went for "the members after the Mekatrio encountering the Mekakushi Dan somehow", since the part prior to mine in this collab is a flashback of Ayano and the Mekatrio!

Ahh I’m so happy you saw my ask!! That was me haha, I tried understanding it too but yeah it’s definitely a question after the second part. I have family who know fluent Japanese but it’s kinda awkward asking such an embarrassing favor. Thank you for checking it out. I love how in character they are!

Momo: Urgh, Konoha-san, don't glare like that! (my guess is that he's looking at the screen or something? or maybe at the other members to think about the upcoming parts? i'm not 100% sure)

Hibiya: I'm not gonna lose to you, you got that? (said to Konoha)

Konoha: Oh.

Ene: Hm, what's wrong?

Konoha: The next part's about to start...

(and then there's confusion over who sings next, then Kido cues Mary in)

(after the last chorus when Shintaro sings the last line alone, they all sort of split off into saying their own things again, most notably, Kano and Ene re-enact that "card battle of other ppl's embarrassing secrets" they did in ep 5)

Not sure if you still use your tumblr, but I was saw this cover on niconico of by singers who were pretending to be the Mekakushi Dan doing karaoke of Daze. I lost it for years until I finally found it! I think you'll enjoy it, Sadly I can only understand just a bit, so there's no translation. Here's the id!! - sm23819711

i don't think i've ever seen this video before despite liking these kind of Mekakushi Dan fandub groups that also do singing, but this video's pretty fun

they act out the chaos of the group pretty well, there's a good number of moments that made me chuckle, like members missing their cues, Ene calling Konoha 'nisemono', Konoha asking "mugamuchuu?" before the 2nd chorus like it's a question, nobody knowing who should sing during the bridge, Shintaro singing the very last line alone and getting embarrassed, etc.

if i had more time on my hands, i'd translate it, but tbh i think that most of it is very understandable through the voice acting (like, telling when a character misses a cue and panics, or when one is complimenting another, etc, just through tones of their voices)

thank you for sending it in the first place tho! idk how i've never seen it before, but it was a fun watch!

A comically tall tree that I could see out of my window across the street had recently gotten chopped down. I'd stared at it for a couple of years now and admired its unique shape, so its absence brings about an empty feeling in me. Yet for some reason, the more and more I glance out of my window and see the blank space the tree had always preoccupied, the more and more I start to think there wasn't any tree there to begin with. Even though I have photos of the tree, even though I can physically prove it was there, my memories feel like they're being overwritten with what I see today.

I have gotten used enough to its presence to miss it, and used enough to its absence to forget it, and that contradiction baffles me.
