I do ship gracerocky but to all the people shocked and appalled that bloodymary has more fics, can we take a step back and acknowledge that Rocky isn’t some objectively hot alien, nor is he the obvious ship for most fans?

They straight up cannot touch, Rocky has a mate whom he loves very much (and in the book it’s more clearly implied that Eridians are monogamous or something similar), and Rocky isn’t humanoid which seems like a pretty obvious turn off for most people and we should respect that.

Sometimes a cross-ship just blows up, and I think bloodymary is a genuinely fun example. Riddled with mischaracterizations by people who have only seen one of the two movies, yes, but fun nonetheless.

Can we all please just agree to block tags we don’t like, and not complain that another ship is more popular than ours?

One thing I haven't heard people talk about. In the finale Murderbot says "may I have my armor" not "will I need my armor" not "do i need my armor" it asks "may I have my armor" and it is denied.

It is denied because PresAux doesnt hear the question for what it is. They hear "will I still need to be a killing machine" when thst is not ehat it is asking. PresAux is trying so hard but murderbot needs to check the perimiter because, not intentionally, its first ask once it is told its allowed to choose is denied.

Idk if this is coherent its 1 am and I am watching the finale for the 7th time and I just realized how important that one exchange is. It feels like its lost its purpose snd it needs to find it. It cant have its armor and it needs to find out what that means

I keep thinking about the Murderbot finale, reading everyone else's thoughts and I keep marvelling about the tonal change that they managed to pull off.

The nine episodes were like watching your friend dissociating and deflecting your care and concern with cynicism and slapstick comedy and dark humour.

The finale was watching your friend suffer a breakdown and you were suddenly looking at the unfiltered version of the events and seeing all the cruelty and helplessness and the horrors in all their twisted ugliness.

I can't think of another show that pulled the 'unreliable narrator' off in such a palpable way. A really interesting review called it a protective skin of sarcasm and goofiness. I may be giving the writers too much benefit of a doubt here, but I can't help feeling it was a deliberate choice, and not just an accidental by-product that we're over-analysing now. The protective skin was the MB's narration. With it gone, the reality of its circumstances hit even harder.

I may be far too forgiving here, but for all the unevenness of the show, the finale floored me so I'm biased now.

(I am sorry to spam you with Murderbot prompts but) Post-finale Gurathin, burdened with all these memories of Sanctuary Moon, still doesn't like the show but now can't resist getting into nitpicky arguments about it on futuristic forums, where he and Murderbot keep crossing paths and gradually realize who they're talking to and get very fond about it without admitting to anything.
