Enjoying this awesome talk from Tim Noakes tonight!
How's your keto journey going? I'm almost 2 months in and down 28 pounds. Loving it.
Some rough patches, but I’m back on track!CONGRATS to you on rocking it out! You’re an inspiration!
Good luck on your keto journey!
Thanks!!! I appreciate the words of encouragement :)
The Return
Hello all! My absence hasn’t been a good one diet wise. Didn’t mean to abandon the blog, but you know how grad school (and starting a new job) can be... Sadly I wish I could say I held on to keto to the upmost extent when I was gone, but I definitely didn’t. Carbs will find you and hold you in their evil grasp people, it’s scary stuff. BUT I’M BACK, and the past,  as we say, is in the past. Update on progress tracking: I had a doctor’s appointment on 2/18 and she was very encouraged, I dropped 15 pounds from my last appointment. I was 258 in December 2014 and on 2/18/15 I was 243. Weighed myself today to see the damage and it could have been worse... 3/31: 247.6 Need to drop the pounds fast so as to not completely disappoint my MD (she’s really a great lady) and of course stick to keto so when we recheck my A1C in a month and a half it will hopefully be a tad better despite my venture off the path.
You think you miss carbs, but when you eat them you realise you don’t miss them at all. You miss the idea of how good you thought they taste. They never taste that good.

A restricted-carbohydrate diet doesn’t make you lose weight; it corrects your weight. A restricted-carbohydrate diet doesn’t make you lose water weight; it corrects your water weight. A restricted-carbohydrate diet doesn’t improve serum lipids; it corrects serum lipids. A restricted-carbohydrate diet doesn’t improve health; it corrects unhealthiness.

Two week update
It’s been 14 ketotastic days, my friends.
My scale read 346.0 this morning, so that’s down half a pound from Saturday!
Also, despite not getting a lot of sleep last night, I feel bright and awake this morning…. Awesome!
Starting Stats
I got my scale and measuring tape the other day so I can finally keep track. Here are my "starting measurements"Â 12/17/15 : 27 days Pre-Keto 358 lbs (courtesy of the doctor) Since there was the holidays in between these two dates, my weight probably went up more...but we will never know just how much.
1/24/15 : Day 12 346.6 lbs Neck - 12.8" Chest (under bust) - 49" Waist - 51" Hips - 61" Thigh L - 34.2" Arm L - 19.8" My current thought is to do this about every month so I can track my progress.
Meet The Keto Student
Hello everyone! (If there is anyone out there....hello? *echo*) I'm starting this blog to chronicle my Keto adventures. I'm hoping it will not only keep me on track, but also provide a log of my progress for me...because I would lose anything I write down on physical paper. Also, if by chance I can help any people out there that would be amazing! So about me: I'm a student in two perspectives. I am a first year professional student and I actively research everything related to being in nutritional ketosis. I believe wholeheartedly in the cliche, knowledge is power. No disrespect to health professionals, but many are ignorant of what humans should be eating and therefore aid in the various "disease of civilizations" epidemics plaguing the world. So this means that it is up to me to educate myself and advocate for my health. I am on this journey for a variety of reasons. I have a history of PCOS and of course with that insulin resistance, and I so gracefully ignored it. I tried keto on and off (and by that I mean mostly off) for the past 4 years. When I first tried it seriously for about 5 months 4 or so years ago, I lost 50 lbs and got my PCOS under control. Then I pretty much let myself go (with short uncommitted periods of trying keto) since then. I finally seriously consulted with a doctor (DO) about controlling my health and was put on metformin. After some blood tests it was very clear that I now have Type 2 Diabetes (literally at the lowest value classified as such). So basically it's time to get my ass in gear before my health gets worse...and from my extensive research and personal experience I know that keto is the way to go. And here we are! Stay tuned :)
