Baekhyun’s in the middle of a forest. He’s walking on a trail with long trees on both his sides. The sun is breaking through the leaves, shedding light on the small flowers around him. The weather is pretty great. Not too cold and not too hot, but perfect.
He’s looking around until, suddenly, he sees a small figure at the end of the road. He can't make out what it is, so he walks toward it. As he keeps walking, the figure becomes clearer. It’s a man. He’s wearing a baby blue shirt tucked into blue jeans.
Baekhyun can't make out his face, so he gets closer. The man looks at him, but Baekhyun can't see his face clearly. He decides to walk closer, but the closer he gets, the farther the other man seems to be. As he starts walking faster, the man is getting further. Baekhyun starts running toward the man, but he still can’t reach him. Suddenly, the man turns around, and starts walking walking away from him.
“Wait!” Baekhyun shouts. He runs faster and faster until, suddenly, he falls down.
Next thing he knows, he is on the floor of his bedroom. This dream again, he thinks to himself. It’s the same dream he has been having for the past month. The same setting, the same forest, and the same man. No matter how much he runs, he can never reach him.
As he gets up to go to the bathroom, Baekhyun glances at the clock only to find that it’s 10:30 a.m. “Shit!” Baekhyun hisses as he runs to the bathroom to get ready.
He is late for his 12 p.m. train. He is supposed to go meet his parents in Busan. He hasn't seen them in almost 6 months since he was busy with college and his graduation project. He gets ready quickly, grabs his phone and suitcase, and runs out the door.
When Baekhyun arrives at the train station, he finds it packed. Of course, it’s Christmas time after all. “The most wonderful time of the year,” he whispers sarcastically.
As he goes to the ticket window, he finds a long line. He glances at his watch to find that it’s 11:30 already. His train leaves in 15 minutes, and he can in no way reach the window by then. He looks frantically around him trying to figure out a way to book a ticket as quick as possible. He starts to ask people in front of him in the line if he can go first since he needs to book the 12 p.m. train. After a lot of groans and sighs, they let him through.
When he gets to the window, he asks if there are any tickets left in the 12 p.m. train. “I am sorry, but all the tickets are booked,” the ticket seller tells him. Baekhyun groans loudly. He planned to be home by 4 p.m. at the latest, so he could catch dinner with his parents. His mom has been telling him about all the food she was going to cook for him. She’s going to be so disappointed. He calls his parents to deliver the news.
“It’s okay, son. I’ll tell your mom. She wanted us to have the meal together, but it’s okay. We can warm up the food when you arrive. Just get here safely,” his dad says.
“Sorry dad. Please kiss mom for me,” Baekhyun says.
As he hangs up, Baekhyun feels someone tap his shoulder lightly. He looks around to find a man with the biggest darkest eyes he’s ever seen. He has thick dark eyebrows that are furrowed as he looks at Baekhyun. His lips are heart-shaped, plump and bit pouty. His head is shaved to a buzzcut, and Baekhyun swears he has the roundest head he’s ever seen. The man is beautiful, maybe the most beautiful man Baekhyun has ever seen.
“Excuse me, Uh... Are you looking for a ticket for the 12 p.m. train?” the man says.
Baekhyun doesn’t realize he’s not breathing until he takes a breath to answer him. He was so stunned that it took him a minute to gather his thoughts and answer. It’s just so hard to think when those big brown eyes are looking at him like this.
“Y-yes!” he stutters loud enough for the people around them to look at him weirdly. He smiles sheepishly.
“Well... uh... I kinda have a second ticket and my friend canceled, so you can have it if you want,” the man says. Baekhyun is in awe of how cute the man is when he’s being all shy. He keeps staring at him until the man speaks again.
“I... I just saw you going around anxiously and… uh… I figured you wanted a ticket. Uh... maybe I was wrong,” the man looks at the floor, and Baekhyun realizes he hasn’t said anything yet and how weird he may look to the man staring at him like this. The man starts walking away slowly before Baekhyun grabs his hand and stops him.
“YES! I mean… uh yes. I wanted a ticket, but it… uh… they were all booked, but thank you! I would love a ticket! Thank you!” Baekhyun says way louder than he should, which makes the man’s eyes grow bigger in surprise. Baekhyun realizes he’s still holding the man, so he lets go.
“I am sorry, I am just..uh... I really need that ticket,” Baekhyun sheepishly says.
“It’s okay, it’s all yours. You do have to pay for it though,” the man replies.
“Yes, of course! Thank you again! I didn't know when I will be able to find a ticket again since it’s Christmas and all, and you know how crowded it can get, so thank you! I owe you one!” Baekhyun rambles. Something about this man makes him so nervous for some reason.
“No problem, I think we should go though. It’s already 11:45. We may both miss it if we keep standing like this,” the man says with a serious face.
“Oh, yes, of course. Let's go!”
They both start walking quickly to correct platform, and they arrive barely on time. They’re the last people boarding on the train.
As they’re waiting to get escorted to their seats, Baekhyun gets a chance to look at the man in front of him. He’s almost as tall as Baekhyun, only a few centimeters shorter. He’s wearing a light brown jacket with a white pullover underneath with dark blue Jeans that are folded at the bottom. He’s also wearing vintage brown dress shoes and a brown backpack. His outfit is so simple, but really compliments him as well. Something about him feels familiar, but Baekhyun can't pin it down. He realizes they’ll both be sitting next to each other for the next 3 hours. It’s not like he’s uncomfortable or anything but he’s just so nervous around this man.
