I’ve seen people say that Chewbacca allowing Rey to go to Kylo/Ben was too out of character for him.

But… Ben is Han’s son. Chewy definitely watched him grow up. He knew how much Leia and Han wanted him back when he turned to the dark side. Even after Han is killed, Chewy - a very good marksman- only really grazes Kylo. He was out in the open- Chewy probably could have killed him from where he was standing. He doesn’t. Why?

Because Ben is like a son to Chewbacca. He wants him to return to the light as much as Han and Leia did. As much as Rey does.
