channeling methods; a masterlist
channeling is a divination technique where we communicate with the energies of someone. they can be your spirit guides, your higher self, somebody who has passed away, entities, angels, as well as people from your desired realities. when you channel them, you are telepathically and intuitively connecting to their essence, therefore receiving their messages. you can channel people from your desired reality if you wish to connect more, or are looking for motivation! note that these are the methods i have discovered in my years of being in the shifting community, so the list is not exhaustive. there are many other methods out there which i may not have listed, so if you know any, feel free to comment them down and i'll add them here!
before i begin, i want to emphasize the importance of protecting yourself before you take part in any divination practice. it is likely to encounter unwanted energies or trickster entities, which i have experienced, so make it a rule to always take a few steps to protect your vessel and your space before you channel. this is not a negotiable step. ways to protect yourself before channeling: - listen to protection subliminals or frequencies - pray to any god, deity, angel, or your spirit guides to protect you - keep protective crystals like black tourmaline, obsidian, amethyst or labradorite to shield yourself from unwanted encounters. - set a firm, mental boundary for who you wish to channel - meditate for a few minutes. envision and feel a bright, white protective, bubble-like shield around you that shields you from any harm.
1. the book method take any book of your liking, it could even be a newspaper or an article you wrote for your school's newsletter in the 7th grade. the first step is to ask your question to whoever it is you wish to channel. once that's done, start to intuitively flip through the pages and keep doing so until it feels right to stop. you'll feel an energy or a voice in your head telling you to stop. next, close your eyes and take your index finger. start dragging your finger across every line in the page, and stop when your intuitive urge tells you to. the word, sentence, or phrase that your finger lands on will be the response from whoever you intended to channel. this is an easy technique if you feel underconfident to channel telepathically or if you don't want to use too much of your spiritual energy. 2. the random word generator method once you've decided who you want to channel, ask them a question and go to this website. click on the generate button, and you will receive their answer. you can also keep clicking until it feels right to stop, in order to get their response. the answers might be bewildering, so feel free to try this technique until you get answers that you can make sense of. 3. the telepathy method this technique helps you get more detailed and authentic responses. you can have a channeling subliminal playing in the background, if you prefer. you could also play music which reminds you of the person or being you wish to channel, which makes it easier to connect to their energy. begin by meditating for a few minutes on the energy of whoever you want to channel. focus on feeling their presence and their energy. then, keep a clear and strong intention in your mind to contact them. if you wish, you can repeat "i am channeling person's name" in your head a few times. once you feel more confident, you can approach them with a simple "hi" or a "hello", or anything else you want to say to greet them and begin the session. once it feels right, you can ask them a question or say whatever you want to say to them. you'll then notice an answer popping up in your mind. you'll know it's them talking as the energy and nature of their response will feel very distinct and different from your own thoughts and energy - you will intuitively know that it is them. if you are clairsentient you might sense their presence more strongly. keep talking to them and ask them all the questions you wish to ask. i'd recommend keeping a notebook and pen, or your notes app handy to note down their responses. make sure to be mindful and respect their boundaries. once you are done talking, thank them for their time and cooperation.
4. the letter method this can be useful if you are not confident in telepathic channeling. write a letter to the person you wish to channel, it can be on paper or digital, it doesn't really matter. be authentic and genuine and write down whatever you wish to tell them, you can also ask questions. an optional step: once you're done, ask them, in the letter to send you a sign if they have received your message. this could be anything like a rose, or a black cat, whatever you prefer. keep an eye open and be receptive to everything around you since they will be sending you the sign to confirm they received your message.
5. the media method this method is really simple and effective, especially for people who are underconfident or still developing their psychic abilities. the media i am referring to here is music, images, tv shows, videos, or anything else. ask your question to the person you wish to channel, and then ask them to send you a sign as their answer. you can use pinterest, youtube, your spotify playlist, or anything else that feels right. you will receive their sign, it will be something that really feels as if its from them, or something that really stands out to you. alternatively, you could ask them something and ask for a specific sign to confirm it. for example "show me a blue butterfly if you had a good day". 6. the shufflemancy method another fun and effective method which involves the use of music. prepare a method of songs you like. if possible, make sure that there's a variety and that each song conveys a different energy, theme/message, and emotion. once you've asked your question or said your message to the person you want to channel, begin pressing the shuffle button of your playlist until it feels intuitively right to stop. you'll receive the song that they chose for their answer. try again if it didn't resonate! 7. the pendulum method if you're more experienced with divination and own a pendulum, then consider trying this method! begin by clearing your mind, take a couple of deep breaths, meditate for a few moments. once you feel more like focused, set your intention to channel whoever it is that you want to channel. once that's done, ask them a question. set a rule - for example, clockwise rotations are a yes, and anti-clockwise rotations are a no. you can change it to your liking or based on what message you want to receive. after asking your question, you'll find your pendulum spinning accordingly. 8. the tarot/oracle method i've noticed a lot of shifters own tarot decks, so you can give this method a try as well! use whichever deck you feel most intuitively drawn to - it can be tarot or oracle. you can even use playing cards or an uno deck. it doesn't matter which you use since there's no rules :) once again, focus on the energy of who you wish to channel. hold the deck and meditate while focusing on their energy, keeping an intention to communicate with them. once you feel ready, ask them your question then begin shuffling your cards until it feels right to stop. pull as many cards as you like, your intuition will know. then interpret the messages conveyed by the cards. 9. the dream method this is ideal for the whimsical shifters who like dreamwork. when you start feeling drowsy right as you're about to go to sleep, feel the energy of who you want to channel. simply thinking about them is enough. then you can ask them a question or ask them to send you any message. fall asleep with the intention to channel them and receive their messages, and you should get their responses in your dream! make sure to jot all of it down once you wake up so you don't forget anything.

2. Begin to feel the placement of everything around you in your DR bedroom using proprioception. Not visualising, just feeling and knowing that, "yes my bed is here and my closet is there, I am laying next to the open window, I can feel the breeze on my face..."
𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐛𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫. 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭.
3. Accept that you are here right now, in your DR. Relaxing and taking a nap. Maybe you're laying beside your s/o, maybe you feel the bed move as they change their sleeping position. Just enjoy the relaxation and the feeling of peace that comes with it. Do you have a chore to complete later in your DR? You'll do it after this nap... you feel oh so comfortable. It would be a shame to get up... Now you're thinking like your DR self, role playing a nap. Which is good! Its what we are going for.
4. From here you have two options:
a) Actually fall asleep, and it doesn't matter where you wake up. What matters is that you were in your DR while you were sleeping even if you open your eyes to your CR, you know what you experienced.
Or
b) Open your eyes when you feel ready and no matter what reality you are seeing now, accept the fact that just now you were in your DR and you were taking a nap there.

Song Associated Shifting
On the days when shifting felt too overwhelming and methods were just more unwanted baggage, I would use music.
I would put on a floaty song, think Stray.wav, Let it happen, sdp Interlude, etc (all slowed and reverbed lol). Then I would close my eyes and pretend that the music was guiding me into my DR.
Either that or thinking that the music was levelling me up somehow and making shifting easier for me. I know it sounds silly but it genuinely worked. I would sit there thinking, "its working. I can feel myself shifting 🤩" Just using the music as kind of a power up.
It was fun too. I would get super into it and not even realise that I had shifted already. The only problem was that I would get startled and panic and then purposely shift back. Still working on that though.
How I entered the void in less than 5 minutes last night (If someone doesn’t shift with this, I’ll scream)
I wouldn’t be sharing this and putting myself at risk of sounding like a lunatic who posted one method, and is now posting yet another version of it, if I didn’t have a reason for it. Idk, gut feelings are hard to explain (I’m aware I sound insane right now)
But I’ve never been more excited to share something in my life, sooo that might attest to something.
This will work for everyone in some way. And I’ve never been more certain of anything ever. (Except for the time I pspspsps’d at a black kitty on the sidealk at night, which ended up being a trash bag, and I found out I had horrible eyesight—but that’s not the point here).
This isn’t anything brand new. It’s like my method people have been seeing results with, but stripped down to its bones. Simplified to the core, which I’ve learned actually makes it more effective.
(unless you’re someone who prefers something detailed and objective, then yeah, stick to my main method and ignore this)
This doesn’t care about your beliefs. Doesn’t care about your identity, your self-concept, your doubts, your contradictions. It doesn’t matter if you’re into non-duality, law of assumption, law of attraction, or don’t even have a belief system. This method does not give a single shit. And I say that with confidence, because when this worked for me last night, I was crying. Genuinely, majorly depressed. Everything I usually cling to, all my beliefs about shifting and consciousness and the nature of reality—I wasn’t mulling over any of it. I was flat out over existence itself, and it still worked.
The set-up:
• First, understand something: The screen of space you’re looking at right now—even if your eyes are closed—is the same screen where your DR, CR, the void, your dreams… all of it… will appear. That’s your canvas. Always.
• This works best with WBTB (wake back to bed), so set an alarm for about 3 hours after you fall asleep. You want to wake up just tired enough that going back to sleep is easy, but you’ll still have some control. (You can also do this as you’re going to bed, but it was 3 AM for me after I had woken up,,, so do with that info what you want).
• Now, get this into your head: You’re not entering the void or shifting from a place of calm or confidence. You’re doing it from pure exhaustion. You’re doing it from “fuck this shit, I’m doing it anyway.”
You can doubt. You can feel like shit. But the attitude that follows is “fuck it.” You’re tired of trying, and tired of being on this journey. So you’re just gonna do it. Fuck it.
What to do:
• Lie on your back. (I personally like my back, but I’ve done it on my side too, and it still works. Doesn’t matter. Don’t overthink it. This doesn’t matter)
• You can move. Just don’t care that you moved. After the next step, you won’t even be paying attention to your body anyway, and it’ll go numb naturally,, so the idea here is “fuck it, this doesn’t matter.”
• Now: Notice the black behind your eyes. Just that. The blackness. Don’t try to notice your awareness yet. Just focus on the black. Look at it. Really look at it. LOOK. Keep choosing to look at it again and again. Widen your eyes over and over again, and keep refocusing on it. This will keep you alert, but you’re not forcing yourself to stay alert, got it? It happens naturally, because you’re reeeeally looking at the black behind your eyes.
• Your body’s gonna want to fall asleep. Don’t fight it, don’t care about it, because the fact that you’re looking at the black behind your eyes will naturally keep you from falling asleep.
• You keep your mind locked on that black space, almost like you’re watching a movie screen, but nothing’s playing yet. What happens? You’ll keep wanting to fall asleep—but widening your eyes and choosing to watch the black will keep waking you up. You’ll be in this liminal place going: “Fuck it. Fuck it. Fuck it. I’m doing this. Fuck it. Don’t care.”
(What I mean by “widening your eyes” even though they’re closed is: when your eyes are closed, don’t let them go slack like they do when you're falling asleep. Keep them wide and alert, like you're trying to watch something in the dark. You're not tensing them, just holding that sense of openness, like you're staring through your eyelids).
• What happens next: Suddenly you’ll feel your awareness. You’re just awareness now. Naturally. You didn’t right off the bat try to pay attention to your awareness,, you just realized that you are it. Why? Because when you feel confined to that black space behind your eyelids like a coffin, with nothing else around you, there’s nowhere else to run to other than your awareness. Your body will be numb, and your surroundings distant, irrelevant. And you’ll think: “Wait… I’m just my awareness.”
• And then your brain might do what it always does: “Oh no. What if I’m overthinking? What if I’m messing it up?” And you remind yourself: “I’m literally awareness. I can overthink if I want. I’m awareness goddamnit. Fuck it.”
• You’ll start switching—back and forth—between two things (because there’s nowhere to run to):
1. Looking at the black behind your eyelids
2. Noticing your awareness itself
Keep flipping between the two like you’re flickering the lights on and off in a room, but don’t force this. You’ll look at the fact that you simply are, and you'll look at the black,, and you’ll think: “damn?? I’m just my awareness.”
• Then you’ll start to sink. You’ll feel the pull as hypnagogia grabs your hand and says “so where are we going, bestie?” From here, you can either:
A) Keep going as you feel yourself sink, and you’ll fall straight into the void state effortlessly.
B) As you feel yourself sink, you can choose to lucid dream, astral project, or just plain shift from here. To shift: affirm, assume, observe, do whatever you want. The way I shared that I like to do this is by observing my awareness in my DR, observing the fact that I’m aware there (just pretend you’re there, no need to try too hard).
The point is: whatever happens next, if it happens very very quickly, don’t panic.
Just to note:
If this somehow doesn’t work for you—though I genuinely believe it will work for someone—just know the reason I share so many things is because I deeply believe everyone needs different things. The core of shifting stays the same to me:
You are only awareness, and you observe your desired reality until all other options collapse.
But how you get into that is wildly personal. What works for me might not click for you, just like what works for you might not click for me, and that’s fine.
That’s why I keep offering options—not to confuse you, not to invalidate anything I’ve said before, but to give you more pathways of realizing how powerful you already are. If one method feels off, try another. My main method is still my go-to: observe my awareness in my DR, exist there, decide I’m there because where else would I be??—but I love giving variety because maybe this next one might be the one that opens it all up for you.
Edit: (this just came to mind) don’t place a time expectation on any method. This one worked in less than 5 minutes for me, but the next time I try it, it could happen in 10, maybe 20. I don’t know. So if you try this, and it doesn’t immediately work in the way you expect it to, take a deep breath and keep trying, because eventually something has to happen. Trust me.

I honestly am I very confident person as of recently because of manifestation. I have built a good self concept and lost a bit of weight so I’ve been very happy.
It was 1 am and I was scrolling on TikTok as any teen would when they know there’s nothing to do the next day. I basically came across this slideshow showing two texts messages with different people. The first was someone saying the creator reminded them of a kitty and proceeded to call them that. Which they responded grossed out. While the second slide was a screenshot of someone else calling them kitty and them saying they loved them and getting excited.
The point of the slideshow was to bring up their ex relationship and show how a nickname they loved now made them sick. I was touched and opened the comments to hundreds of people revealing the old nicknames people had for them and how they can’t be replicated by anyone else.
And when I tell you I cried, SOBBED. Purely out of jealousy. Because I’ve never had anyone, platonic or otherwise, give me a nickname or even tell me they loved me. It was such a shattering experience to realize that none of my friends have anything special with me, and no aspect of our friendships are unique.
It’s even worse to think my best friend has a closer best friend and I genuinely have no one who I can relate to. I want to be close with people so badly but no one lets me in so I just end up being the floater friend. I started crying again while writing this just want friendships that feel real and I don’t think I’ve had that past kindergarten.
Idk how I feel about getting this vulnerable on tumblr but I need to get it out so it doesn’t bubble up and I end up doing something that I will regret or get me in trouble.
