I think this is a very fitting photo to share given the state of our world today. Earlier this evening I had the privilege of attending a community event at Hush House Detroit Museum and Cultural Center and I took this photo - we need #WorldPeace and we need to work together to uplift #Humanity - these are difficult days people and we have to come together.

I just returned from a great trip in Washington, DC. I was there for the 2016 United Nations Association Leadership Summit. I am now also a new member of United Nations Association's USA National Council. I love being able to help in advancing and promoting the work and principles of the United Nations! This past Tuesday, I spent the day on Capitol Hill with fellow UN Association members from across the United States to meet with members of Congress to advocate for a stronger United States and United Nations partnership. We spoke about support for UN Peacekeeping operations, support for the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and Refugees and Displaced People worldwide, and support and action for the Sustainable Development Goals (the Global Goals) I am very passionate about all of these issues and especially Global Goals #4 and #5 - more photos to come! #UNAUSA #leadershipsummit2016 #UnitedNations #UNPeacekeeping #UNHCR #CapitolHill #Advocacy #HumanRights #GlobalGoals #year2030

I have added another bracelet to my wrist that I will wear everyday. The bracelet bearing the name and in memory of Kayla Mueller, humanitarian aid worker (killed in 2015) is important to me. God Bless her and her family. #Peace #Love #Light #AidWorkers

I just started reading this book last night, #BloodAndEarth is about the horrors modern day slavery (human trafficking) and the impact on our #environment. #traffickinginpersons is a crime under international law and it is imperative that we all stand on the right side of #Humanity and fight to end this atrocity now.

Native American or not please take time out of your day to say a prayer for all the missing & murdered Indigenous women in the United States and Canada. I shed a few tears today and then said my own prayer after reading another article on MMIW. One women got trafficked from Minnesota to North Dakota to the oil mines. She was drugged and kidnapped. When she found herself alone in the car she escaped, went to the police station in ND and they looked up her record and arrested her for an unpaid traffic ticket from 2011 & wouldn’t take her statement. They detained her and sent her to Minot where a female officer knew something was wrong and dropped the charges and let her go. In the same article is said “It’s pretty much ignored when a Native women goes missing.” Well that shouldn’t be the case, what if it was your daughter, sister, cousin, niece, mom, Aunty, Grandma, or best Friend. We need these Native women here to lead us. Pray to bring any Native women home.

Yesterday I got some very very sad news. My Uncle Hal passed away, he was 68 years old and full of life. He was the oldest brother of my mom. I have a lot of feelings going on right now.
