Hey Tumblr!
It's been a really long time since I've been on here (like, close to a decade). A lot of things have changed and I'm not sure if I recognize most of the usernames I follow. I don't think I'm really going to become active on here but I thought I would check in with a couple of things!
First, if you originally followed me way back in the day for my Smackjeeves Webcomic 'Fruitloop & Mr. Downbeat' (first of all, thank you!) I apologize that it's been unavailable since Smackjeeves died, and that it itself died and I never really said much about it. I started Fruitbeat when I was a teenager (I am now in my mid-30's lol) and when my animation career began I lost the time and drive to keep working on it. I also feel at odds with some things in it now, but I guess that's just part of growing up and creating. It died but I had a lot of fun making it and enjoyed the community that was built around it at the time. I don't want to put it on a modern comic site, but I wanted to make it available in some way and have had it on my google drive for people who asked for it (and thank you to those who reached out about the comic over the years!). I thought it might be nice to just post the link somewhere, and tumblr was where Fruitbeat was promoted back in the day, so I figure, why not have it here?
The last few pages of what is in the chapter 5 pdf were unfinished, and I'm not even 100% sure what the dialogue was (it should be in a sketchbook somewhere, but idk man). If having a link to my google drive on here becomes a problem I'll need to take it down, but I THINK it's safe. I hope it reaches the people who might be interested.
Second, last month I started posting a new comic on Webtoon & Tapas called 'Casey James & the Infinity Games'. The premise is that a woman wakes up without her memories just as she's about to participate in an intergalactic death game. I would classify it as a sci-fi horror/thriller with a lot of comedic elements.
It's my first comic since Fruitloop & Mr. Downbeat, and I've had a lot of fun writing it. While it's pretty different from Fruitbeat in terms of genre and style, I honestly don't think my writing sensibilities when left to my own devices have changed THAT much. I still like to have goofy expressions and long-winded dialogue (lol) and you can rest assured that pretty much every character is queer (mostly bi/pan in this one).
I gave the comic a bit of a slow start so it's still very much at the beginning, but I thought I would share it here, too, in case anyone was interested! The animation industry has been kind of dead the last couple years and my career has been at a standstill, and it's been nice to have something of my own to work on again while life is kind of rough.
A woman wakes up to find her memories missing, just as she's set to play in an intergalactic-televised series of death games! Will she and h

Anyway, thanks for reading this long post and maybe reading some comics, and I hope people here on tumblr are doing well!
