Luz being obsessed with getting a cure for Eda in 1x18 is even more sad now that we know her dad presumably died of an illness. Luz had lost her dad to sickness, so of course she’d do anything possible to keep Eda from following in Manny’s footsteps 😭

The way this is immediately juxtaposed, Amity doing the light spell for her girlfriend, reciprocating the first time Luz did it all the way back in Covention, only to cut to Luz mourning how she can no longer do it and being reminded of that fact... Feeling useless and behind, like her magic and efforts aren’t as ‘real’ as a ‘proper’ witch’s, once again...!

That said... I do love how tender and vulnerable and pained Luz looks around Amity, the implication she’s still letting her in a little, even if not fully, unlearning her habits bit by bit as Amity did! She looks openly troubled, and then Amity notices and helps!!!
