βItβs funny what can happen when someone believes in you.β
every now and then i'm reminded of just how masterfully Miles and Kerry used Jacques as a narrative tool in volume 4 to mask Ironwood's growing instability
Ironwood has three scenes throughout the whole volume, and Jacques is present for all of them
we're primed to not like Jacques before we ever met him - Weiss has nothing good to say about him, neither does Winter
and so in volume 4, when Jacques is criticising Ironwood's embargo because it's cutting into his profit margins, the audience is primed to go "what a selfish dick" and not really listen to what he's saying. yes, he's selfish and only out for himself, but he isn't wrong that cutting Atlas off from the rest of Remnant is a stupid move that only highlights Ironwood's paranoia
and then the party, which i haven't seen a lot of meta about. again, Jacques' controlling behaviour of Weiss (and what he does after Weiss shouts at the rich people) draws attention away from the fact that Ironwood went to a party and brought a gun. like yes he used it to kill Weiss's Boarbatusk summon before it could hurt that one lady, which makes him look good. but he still showed up to a social event where there should be no expectation of danger at all, with a weapon and was primed and ready to use it. which all ties in to how his answer to everything is a show of force, that was mentioned way back in volume 2, but it also sets up how he's willing to resort to violence and murder at the first opportunity (shooting Councilman Slate just for criticising him. murdering Jacques just because he was there)
the final scene the two have is them arguing in Jacques' office again, with Jacques telling Ironwood to get a grip. again, we don't like Jacques, by this point in the volume he's used Weiss for good publicity, hit her and disinherited her. so we don't want to register what he's saying, because Ironwood was kind to Weiss in his first scene. so it's easy to miss that once again, while his intentions are selfish, Jacques isn't wrong about Ironwood
using a vile character to disguise that another character isn't completely on the up-and-up because he always looks better by comparison is just a fantastic, subtle bit of writing and i will always appreciate it
Hard Knock Weiss
Happy birthday to the best girl, the ice queen, the beekeeper, and cringe fail girl π₯°
"zoerumi is just a cutesy, cute pair." like okay yeah... but they are angsty too!!!
What do you think would happen when a people pleaser and someone whoβs suppressed her true self fall in love?
Zoey's all like, βDoes she like me? Should I say something? No, I donβt wanna push her. Iβll just let her come around in her own time.β
And Rumi would be like, βI hope she sees how much I want her through my actions, because I know she's still having trouble trusting me. I lied to them after all."
THEY'RE THE SLOWEST SLOW BURN YOU'LL EVER EXPERIENCE. always tip toeing. 1 step forward and 3 steps back. every time they'll do something bold they'll think back if its too pushy and they're back to square one.
when Zoey initiates:
Zoey: oh god sorry. i didn't mean that.. (stop it zoey. you're overwhelming her.)
Rumi: you didn't? oh... (she's not comfortable around me. I canβt blame her.)
if Rumi initiates:
Rumi: I'm sorry. Thats not something I should just do (i don't deserve you)
Zoey: Oh.. (im being too much again)
and Mira's losing her fucking mind.
βThe forgotten island is a dangerous place. The longer you're here, the more memories you'll forget.β βWe would forget everything, even each other?β
FORGOTTEN ISLAND (September 2026) β Jo and Raissa find themselves stranded on the fantastic world of the forgotten island of Nakali. They find that their only way home might come at the expense of a lifetime of memories and emotions.
There's this variety series where idols call family(or friends) to make them say "I love you" and I just thought, whew! Huntrix would be the worst guests for that lmao
(let's pretend some sort of mix up happened and management didn't realize Huntrix showing up there would be a baaad idea)
Mira's phone call is based on Gowon from Loona's phone call with her own brother btw. So I take no credit for how fucking funny that was.
Love how yang and ruby are legit pessimists the ENTIRE show and just have a happy tone in their voices and it makes people think theyβre so optimistic
Like they even introduce them like that
Ruby starts out CERTAIN sheβs not making any friends and yang does obviously spend the whole time trying to convince Ruby thatβs not true but when it didnβt have to do with Rubyβs mental health??? Yang saw a group of people bringing grim and despite doing FANTASTIC with NO ISSUES the WHOLE time during the episode they get their partners goes βoh great now we can all die togetherβ
Ever after was so funny too like Rubyβs liek βoh the world is doomed and itβs my fault and everyoneβs gonna dieβ and yangs like βoh hey guys I donβt know about ur theories about where we are are but Iβm pretty sure weβre dead and in hell :)β
I LOVEEEE them
Positive attitudes in hopeless situations including situations that ARENT EVEN HOPELESS
THEYYYY just donβt have any hope
Cause they just like that

PERCY JACKSON & ANNABETH CHASE β Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Titan's Curse Teaser
"Dance, you guys!" Thalia ordered. "You look stupid just standing there." I looked nervously at Annabeth, then at the groups of girls who were roaming the gym. "Well?" Annabeth said. "Um, who should I ask?" She punched me in the gut. "Me, Seaweed Brain." "Oh. Oh, right." PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS: THE TITAN'S CURSE

Sally Jackson, the Mother, the Myth, the Legend you are.
PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS 'I Go Down with the Ship'
I understand Sally and Paul are already dating and she just asked him if she could borrow his car but it would be MUCH funnier if she just stole the first car she could to get to the kids and when she turns herself in/apologizes later Paul takes one look at her and is like ππππ no officer I don't think I'm gonna any press charges
That was actually my immediate thought too π€£
Someone goes βso how did you two meet?β And Paulβs like βwell she stole my car to go pick up her kid, and it was kinda love at first sight from thereβ
