#my wife is on the SOR for being gay #no joke #she hit on a girl in a straight bar once #in 1997 #and while the girl was into it #the off duty cop sitting nearby was not #and so he arrested her for ‘soliciting homosexual activity’ #which in our state was still a felony #in 1997 (and would remain so until Lawrence v Texas in 2003) #and since ‘soliciting homosexual activity’ was a felony and a sex crime #she got put on The List #she is still on there to this day #because it costs MONEY to ask a judge to take you off #and she has tried four times#since 2003 #to get taken off the SOR #but every time the judge has said something like ‘no you pled guilty to the crime i can’t possibly take you off the sex offender registry’ #with no acknowledgement of what the actual crime was #(the crime of being a butch lesbian hitting on a cute girl who was into it) #(in 1997)

Younger queer people need to realize that the SOR being used against queer people simply for being queer isn’t some ancient history thing. It still impacts queer people today. And it can quite easily be used that way again.

When you hear people throwing around the talking point of “well there’s a high rate of sex offenders in the trans/queer community”, this has to do with why.

Being on the sex offender registry isn’t inherently equivalent to whatever horrific sex crime you’re meant to think of when it’s mentioned. It evokes imagery of pedophilia and rape, but there is a lot that can get you put on it and not a lot you can do to be taken off of it.

Public crossdressing used to be able to get you put on the sex offender registry (and by used to I mean as recently as 2011).

Public urination (you know, the literal only option for someone who’s homeless and doesn’t have access to public bathrooms, a venn diagram where trans people are more likely to rest in the meeting zone) can get you put on the sex offender registry.

Sex work is pretty much an automatic way to end up on the sex offender registry if you’re caught. (This is especially weaponized against black trans women who do sex work)

“Deviant Sexual Intercourse” (aka literally any sexual activity aside from penis-in-vagina penetration) could get you on the sex offender registry as recently as the early 2000s. That effectively impacts the entire queer community in one way or another.

The sex offender registry is, first and foremost, useless. It tells you nothing about what someone did. It’s mentioned to quickly associate a person or a group of people with the worst possible crimes imaginable.

It has been used against us time after time and it will continue to be used for that.

When you decide that people who commit a certain crime or category of crime should legally lose their humanity, you create incentive for more people to be charged with that crime.

the thing about trans women is that anyone who isn't one can, at any moment, ideologically dump trans women and jump on the genocide bandwagon. they will, generally, face no social or material repercussions for doing so. the "genocide bandwagon" i mentioned earlier? that's 80%+ of the population who, consciously or otherwise, do not consider trans women to be people.

trans women can't do anything about this. if they try to argue back, they're framed as AMAB freaks wielding their male privilege by the people who are attacking them. it's an unwinnable situation because trans women, as a class, are not capable of oppressing the people who are ideologically dumping them, despite that supposed oppression being the smokescreen these people use as an excuse to continue their abuse. it's happening in droves in "AFAB queer spaces" by covert TERFs who are literally recruiting them. it's low key incredibly terrifying to see.

Human rights organizations, genocide scholars, and advocates warn that the United States is in the early stages of a genocidal process against transgender people. Experts point to an escalating wave of hostile state legislation, restrictions on gender-affirming care, and public rhetoric aimed at eradicating trans identity from public life.

there was a recent ruling (6 days ago as of my posting this) that states can exclude TRANS WOMEN AND GIRLS SPECIFICALLY from sports teams. this gives LEGAL PRECEDENCE for states to, specifically, discriminate against trans females (in this sense, meaning transsexual women and girls).

i can't write in third person about this anymore because this is terrifying.

we're being sent to men's prisons. those prairieland protestors, including two trans women, got sentenced to 556 total years in prison, essentially life sentences, for "left wing terrorism." in mens prisons we are systematically raped and murdered, including, often times, by the guards. they do not need to build camps to enact a genocide upon trans women - the camps already exist, in the form of the largest prison system in the world.

this shit with the TME qweerz is actively dangerous because its peeling off part of the overall trans community to be used to isolate us. it is an obvious ploy by TERFs to remove the few people who have generally been our allies so that we are more vulnerable. do you think these people don't have think tanks funding these things? they are trying to eliminate trans women from society. the president of the united states has explicitly said such.

Transgender sports bans are almost always framed as trans exclusive issues and not as women's issues. Which is incorrect. The bans exclusively impact women and we know from documents from project 2025 that these bans are step one towards eroding all of title nine and protections from discrimination based on sex. But that is almost never acknowledged (outside of talking about cis women catching strays) because that would require acknowledging that trans women ARE women and that their struggles are part of women's struggles more broadly.

i dont remember who first pointed it out but there's a post that's essentially that... the goal of transmisogyny is not always just an eradication of the transfem, but to give tme people access to the transfem as a fundamentally helpless person. the threat is not the life of an individual transfem- although that can be discarded on a whim- but the transfem community. the threat is trans women finding each other, creating a science to describe and share the ways we are mistreated, supporting each other and finding support in sympathetic and educated tmes. the goal is to have the transfeminized person- the lost confused vulnerable "boy"- isolated and desperate. for her to be a well of labor; artistic, emotional, organizational, domestic, or sexual. for her to be a well of this labor until you are done with her and she can be safely and cleanly discarded with no guilt and no loss of social standing.

and once you see it, so much starts to make sense. the attempt to erode language like tme/tma, which allows transfems to discuss their oppressors, or language like trans women, which allows transfems to unify and understand themselves as victims of misogyny. the proliferation of the femboy- an alternative identity for the young transfeminized person, one that is centered around looking skinny and pretty and being sexually available. and attempts to target and remove trans women from their community- to destroy the transfem community on tumblr, to isolate and punish trans women from their irl support groups. even the public mockery of transfemininity, the jokes on television, the insults boys fling at each other to assert that to be transfeminized is to be less than worthless.

this is the arc of transmisogyny. this is what is expected of us, the status quo that all this violence is committed to enforce.

It happened like a few weeks ago now but the way that hbomberguy pulled out the classic transmisogyny of pedojacketing and callouts to condemn and punish Patricia Taxxon when she so much as alluded to the way he underpayed and took advantage of her to score his big, popular, successful videos is just, like, a textbook example of this. A young woman- a teenager!- is used for artistic labor, but because she's transfem, autistic, furry, the people using her can rally a mob to chase her out of public life, censor her, and people will comply. People openly acknowledged that, yes, she was underpaid, but they find that justifiable in the face of her being a disgusting degenerate dangerous sexual deviant! a community of alleged "leftists" gathered to defend a labor rights violation when the victim is a tranny. this is what transmisogyny is for.

Jax might be the most popular trans woman in media. Shes a main character (alongside pomni) in one of the most successful indie series of all time, and she is repeatedly shown struggling with dysphoria and internalized misogyny/transphobia. and nobody had any problems with that until they put a bow on her and said it outright in the finale.

Why do you think her being trans wasn't confirmed until the finale? coincidentally why did so many prior TADC fans seemingly jump ship as soon as episode 9 came out? (they have the same answer!)

Jax's story is about a trans girl who hates herself and is suffering because of transphobia. Her struggles are deeply personal and brutally realistic to what it means to be trans, so of course she connected with millions of struggling trans people. But she could never have had this impact if people knew she was trans in episode one.

Jax became one of the most famous instances of trans representation because she benefited from people treating her as cis and giving her attention accordingly.

so of course they would be mad and hate the finale, it told them that the entirety of the show they had been watching a trans girl, promoting her message that trans people are struggling, and that we should be supported.

But people weren't ready to admit that they had seen themselves in her, they had accidentally sympathized with the people they demonized, they had seen her struggles as one of their own and promoted her. But "hes trans?? he cant be!" and "the series was bad anyway" is their response to creating and elevating a message that will teach so many trans woman that they aren't alone, and that they can heal.
