Happy Pride Month!
Holy shit!!!!!!! HUNGARY DID IT!!!!
-via the Los Angeles Blade, June 1, 2026
just genuinely had someone say to me "just because I don't support pride month doesn't mean I'm homophobic" then what the fuck does it mean?????
I know this is a tiny part of the wider problems born of diet culture, fatphobia, classicism, and racism but like god the idea that "healthy" food must inherently taste bad has completely ruined us as a society.
Every time you feel bad for having coffee with cream and sugar or ranch on your salad or putting extra butter and salt on your veggies I want you to imagine the spirit of John Harvey Kellogg in front of you and then I want you to kill him with a real gun and eat your delicious food in peace.
"Kill your local sex offender!" Oh, you mean the guy who went streaking at his local college football game on a dare one time? That's a sex crime.
"No, I mean-"
Oh, maybe the woman who had to pee in a public park that only had pay toilets, so she tried to hide behind the bushes but got caught? Public urination is a sex crime.
"What? No, I mean-"
Oh, maybe you mean the homeless guy who had to strip down to get his clothes in the laundromat to clean them for the first time in weeks? He tried being subtle, but someone called the cops on him, and now he's on the sex offender registry for public nudity.
"Rapists and pedophiles! Kill rapists and pedophiles!"
Oh, like the trans woman who got called a pedophile groomer for helping a trans kid escape her abusive parents?
Or maybe the black man who got labeled a rapist because he came on to another man's wife, and he decided to get back at him by charging him with rape?
How about the 17 year olds who were fooling around, fully consensually, in one of their bedrooms? That's still technically underage sex and thus rape of a minor.
Oh, or maybe you're talking about the doctor who performed genital reconstructive surgery in a state that just voted to get that classified as rape?
People will do everything they can to get you convinced rape and pedophilia are the worst crimes possible, then accuse whoever they like the least of being either a rapist, a pedophile, or both, counting on you turning on them just for being accused of the crime.
"Oh, so you're saying you don't want to kill a serial rapist?"
That's exactly what I'm goddamn saying.
Once we decide a group is okay to kill, the government will do everything they can to convince you that their political enemies are either part of that group, or just as bad as that group, to get you to kill their enemies for them.
The only way out is to accept every life as worth saving.
Whenever you decide a certain crime or category of crime makes it OK to dehumanize people, you incentivize the government to charge people with that crime.
I do really love it when women write graphic and fucked up things. I feel like so often people react to fucked up fiction with βof course a disgusting man would write this πβ and it often carries an unspoken (honestly sometimes spoken) message of βa womanβs PURE and DELICATE and FEMININE mind could NEVER think of something this VILEβ. Thank you women in fucked up fiction π«‘
The energy-efficient desalination system produces fresh water without chemical additives and transforms leftover salts into useful materials
Desalination is the process of generating freshwater from brackish or saltwater, usually through the process of reverse osmosis. While this can be a very useful tool in water shortages, it also has some pretty huge drawbacks--reverse osmosis requires a lot of energy, requires chemical treatment of the water, and produces concentrated brine as a waste product which can be harmful to aquatic ecosystems.
Researchers have recently discovered a new way to perform desalination using solar energy, which doesn't require chemical inputs and collects waste salt instead of producing brine. Concentrating the waste salt in a solid form instead of brine means that it can later be processed to extract valuable minerals like lithium.
Interesting! Though, to be clear, the main method used to extract lithium from salt lakes is basically the same: pumping water into shallow pools and letting the desert sun evaporate the water away. Only in this case the water gets recovered.
But both implementations have the same problem: salt water, either from the sea or a salt lake, not only has minerals but also life forms, from microbes to big animals, and many of them get trapped in the pools, slowly drying there. You can probably keep the bigger ones away with filters and meshes, but the smaller ones will die there, and that has environmental effects.
I'm not saying that we should ban desalination, in some cases it's the less harmful option, but we should be aware of the tradeoffs, and plan accordingly. Desalination isn't a free pass to keep populating places where there's not enough water, but it can be a solution when you cannot move people elsewhere.
a character being a perpetrator does not negate their victimhood and neither does their victimhood negate being a perpetrator. u can accept and reckon w both dimensions in ur analysis
there is nothing morally purifying about suffering or victimhood, it is not something that inculcates βgoodness.β
oneβs character has no impact on whether they were/are a victim or not, victim status is not something that is only afforded to the palatable.
it also does not = absolution.
ppl cant handle this in cartoons made for teenagers lets not get ahead of ourselves
Pain is not a virtue.
On Friday, members of the House Oversight Committee toured a Washington, D.C. jail where some Jan. 6 defendants are being held.
Greene claimed those being held pretrial are "not allowed to see their families, many times are not allowed to see their attorneys" and that "the food has been a major complaint. There's been complaints of it tasting like cleaner."

A judge on Wednesday ordered corrections authorities to provide organic food to an Arizona man accused of participating in the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol while sporting face paint, no shirt and a furry hat with horns.
The order came after a lawyer for defendant Jacob Chansley complained that his client had gone the past nine days without eating because organic food isnβt served at the Washington jail where heβs housed.
REPUBLIKKKANS ARE FUCKING HYPOCRITES
Trump is paying foreign companies to stop their clean energy projects in the U.S. and instead, invest in fossil fuels
The New York attorney general and the top prosecutors of six other Northeast states on Tuesday sued the Trump administration over what they call a βblatantly unlawfulβ deal to cancel a $795 million offshore wind lease.
The suit stems from an agreement the U.S. Department of the Interior struck with French energy company TotalEnergies in March. Under the agreement, TotalEnergies renounced its wind lease and agreed to invest about $1 billion in oil and natural gas production, in exchange for a full reimbursement by the federal government.
βThis administration cooked up a sham deal to pay a foreign energy company hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to abandon offshore wind and invest in oil and gas instead,β New York Attorney General Letitia James said in a statement.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Justice did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The lawsuit is the latest chapter in the Trump administrationβs efforts to cancel offshore wind leases. The campaign has generated intense pushback from Northeast and New England states that have budgeted for of new clean energy.
President Donald Trump halted federal approvals for wind energy projects across the country on his first day in office last year. James and a coalition of attorneys general sued, and a federal judge the ban in December.
The administration also tried to stop construction on two of New Yorkβs offshore wind projects on national security grounds β but a federal judge earlier this year.
Federal officials then set their sights on TotalEnergies subsidiary Attentive Energy, which in 2022 paid $795 million to purchase a lease about 50 miles off the coast of New York and New Jersey.
State regulators said the project would have provided power to roughly 700,000 New York homes and created more than 1,700 new jobs.
Development stopped after the companyβs deal with the Department of the Interior paid TotalEnergies not to develop any other offshore wind projects in the United States.

"LGBTQ+ people with disabilities are often denied an intersectional identity due to inaccessible queer places/events, and the false idea that they cannot have sexual and gender identities. We must remember to make all places accessible and inclusive -- from homes to bars, to parades and festivals -- this month and all year long.
Love these words by Annie Segarra. βIt starts with hiring us as organizers, it starts with integrating us into the spaces where we belonged all along. It takes the work to unlearn ableism and misconceptions about disability, it takes effort and care to make our spaces accessible. Pride is for all of us, not some of us.β£β£β£β£β£β

I think the ways grace and rocky go about saying "hey don't be sad we are competent" are 1 really sweet and 2 sososo funny because grace, ever the teacher, will be like "hey don't be sad, I'm a science human, we'll figure it out together" and rocky will be like "oh my god stop crying you dumbass, I figured out how to solve the problem twenty minutes ago. lack of sleep is making you stupid. idiot." And they're both like, wow this is exactly what I needed to hear <3
