'The Winged Scourge' (1943)
💜 Figment Friday! 💜
Figment by Todd Bright.
longer clip but im extremely fond of this section from new defunctland
i like to believe that walt disney's soul is in fact trapped in his animatronic and he's kept there by the vengeful spirit of abraham lincoln who's put him in a fnaf ucn style hell where he's conscious of everything his animatronic does but can't stop it
Wake up babe, something nobody asked for just dropped
If they make him a sympathetic and misunderstood villain then I’m gonna scream. Remember how he said women shouldn’t read cuz then they’d start getting ideas and thinking. Remember when he threatened to have Belle’s father thrown in an insane asylum unless she married him.
Daryl Cagle, November 23, 2003
Going to add something here as a few people in the notes don't know the significance of the date here, or think this might be a dig at Sesame Street somehow - on November 18th, 2003, there was an absolutely landmark legal case in the state of Massachusetts that ruled that civil unions in that state needed to be given the same rights as marriage. This was HUGE - gay marriage was not legally recognized in any state at the time, and civil unions were the closest you could get. This is a WONDERFULLY hopeful, sweet comic drawn five whole days after an enormous, major step forward for gay marriage POSSIBLY being legal. Massachusetts wouldn't even properly legalize gay marriage until May 2004, and it was the first state to do so.
You can Google Goodridge v Department of Public Health for more details.

This scene was, without a doubt, my absolute FAVORITE part from the whole 4 hour long video
TBH I immediately thought Walt would've nodded and gone yep I did it to myself that's fair and be laughing cause the one thing he could do that's been noted is laugh at himself. He'd be grateful someone's being blunt about the whole thing cause that's another thing he respected Honesty,
He didn't listen as he said and that ALWAYS got him into trouble.
the last time I went to Epcot there was something so eerie about the empty queue for Journey into Imagination with Figment. I love that ride, I don’t care that the predecessor was probably better, and it makes me sad that this ride doesn’t get more love. I’m sure in a few years, Disney will replace it with the newest IP and that makes me so sad :(
Who would be more upset about being caged in animatronic form, Walt Disney or Abraham Lincoln?
This has been on my mind since the new Defunctland video. Please share your thoughts.
Walt would be pissed lmao
Disney Handcrafted had some of the exact same footage as The Imagineering Story documentary. I personally thought the later was better.

Haha Walt ofc…
As Lillian Disney herself said the reason why Walt focused on Disneyland so much over his animation studio is because once the animated movie was done, it was done he couldn't change it. Disneyland he could change, he hated staying still.
So uh yeah big agree OP Walt would be absolutely going mad at being forced to stay put🤣
As a little fucker living in a small country where we dont have disney parks they sound so so scary lmaooo
Like what do u mean people have to stand in line for hours??? What
Also i was going to write that our amusement parks are expensive too wich they are but googled how much Disneyland (in california) costs for one day and
First of all it asked me so many questions like "how many parks do u want to visit" ig theres more than one??
But the lowest price i saw was 104 dollars. In linnanmäki (one of our bigger parks) an adults ticket for all rides is 57 dollars
(To be fair it is also much smaller)
(But yikes now i understand why people talk about disneyland like once in a lifetime thing)

Winter storm = eat bread and soup + watch new Disney propaganda film (Disney Handcrafted)
DISNEY PARKS : ↳ TRON Lightcycle / Run
Does anyone else feel like Disney world found projections and tv screens , realized they could use them on rides and then stopped putting in any fucking effort.
I was on the Ariel ride and the line was actually more immersive than the ride.
Spaceship earth has such amazing animatronics, they actually creeped me out- where the hell is that effort now?
For the amount they make people pay and for all they boast about creativity and innovation; it’s lackluster at best.
I was a Disney kid, I’ll always be a Disney kid but I think they need to fire their current imagineers or something. Idk who died, maybe it was the only singular person who could make decent animatronics but please , someone, hire a new guy.
Also, for fucks sake, cover the scaffolding in the ceiling. No want wants to see that, I want to be immersed, not see bars and lights and shit
