Church of the Annunciation

This church is built over Mary’s house where Angel Gabriel appeared to her (Luke 1) and pronounced the Word of God in her life; she would bear a Child and call Him Jesus (v 31).

May our “children” from God be birthed and may He give us the grace to raise a family that typifies the Holy Family, in Jesus name, amen.

Thoughts to ponder on:

Why did God chose Mary as the vessel to bring His Son into the World? What virtues did she have? How did Mar find favor with God (v. 28)?

Ancient jar stone used to hold wine in the time of Jesus. The Church of the Wedding feast - where Jesus tuned water into wine - is built over this.

The Church of the Wedding Feast is built in Cana on the site where Jesus performed His first miracle - turning water to wine.(John 2)

This “simple” ceremony holds several significant facts, testimonies, prayer points we can hold on to.

Jesus’s first miracle at a wedding feast signifies the importance of marriage; Mary His mother recognized that Jesus was “ready even though He said to her “My hour has not yet come”, she had faith in His abilities as the Son of God.

May we always be surrounded by people who recognize when we are “ready” and encourage us.

May we tap into the testimonies of this wedding feast, may our marriages be as sweet as the wine Jesus made, fulfilling God’s command that we “.....be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth....” (Genesis 1:28)

Church of the Transfiguration - Mount Tabor

Here Jesus was transfigured - His face shone like the sun and His clothing was white as the light. He was seen to be talking with Elijah and Moses. (Matthew 17; Mark 9)

God tell us through His disciples that witnessed this glorious transfiguration “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, hear ye Him”. (Matthew 17:5)

Synagogue in Capernaum where Jesus spent time preaching and teaching His Word. This is next to Peter’s mother inlaw’s house where Jesus healed her of a fever when he visited and found her sick. (Matthew 8;14-15)

Peter’s Primacy (John 21)

Here, Jesus appeared to the disciples after His Resurrection by the shores of the sea of Galilee. He showed them where to cast their net and they caught a lot of fish, and they he proceeded to dine with them, eating some of the fish. them. 

Jesus told Peter to “Feed His lambs”, “Take care of His sheep, “Feed His sheep” and to “Follow Him” (He confirmed Peter’s primacy).

May the Resurrection power of Jesus be manifested in your life, and may Jesus dine with you always.

Feeding Five Thousand (Matthew 14:13-21, Mark 6:30-44, Luke 9:10-17, John 6:1-15)

Here (on the rock underneath the altar) Jesus performed the miracle of feeding five thousand people with 5 loaves and 2 fish (provided by a small boy according to the Gospel of John); the remnants gathered filled 12 baskets.

Awesome God, may we always be ready to give our all to You knowing and believing that You can multiply over and over again what You have already given to us.

HI! So I’ve finally gotten that “invincible knock” on my head to get on with my promise to God to share my experience in Israel. Therefore, I am going to be posting pictures with captions of my experience in the Holy Land. Here we go….

The GOD that answers by fire (1 King 18)

This is a replication of the same altar that Elijah repaired after it had been torn down; with 12 stones each representing the 12 tribes descended from Jacob. He prepared an offering on the altar and poured 4 large jars of water over the wood and sacrifice on the altar 3 times.

450 prophets of baal and 400 prophets of asherah prepared their own altars to their gods and called on them to send down fire on the altar and guess what ..... silence!

Elijah stepped forward and prayed and the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soul and also licked up the water in the trench. Alleluia!
