Picture was taken somewhere on the Laugavegurinn. If you are not getting up early and don’t mind walking a bit in the evening, this trail is far from crowded!
The last part of 'The Minky Trail’ is supposed to go from Dettifoss to Ásbyrgi, following the route of the Jökulsárhlaup. This part is around 32,7 km.

Icelandic Horseshoe Adventure
Step 1: go to Þjófadalur and find a horseshoe...
Step 2: go to Askja and wash it...

Step 1/3: go to Þjófadalur and find a horseshoe...
Step 2/3: go to Askja and wash it…
ICELANDIC HORSESHOE ADVENTURE MAP: Well, it became 'The Minky Way' instead of 'The Minky Trail'. We got from Skogar to Ásbyrgi, but not really the way we had in mind! It evolved more into a monkey-brain-old-school-rambo-style-hitchhike-adventure. But half way I found a horse shoe! "Ain't that something?" It was just another legendary trip! ATTENTION! Keep in mind that there are almost no bars outside Reykjavik and Ákureyri...
There is a dirt road (f26) called: Sprengisandsleið, that runs from the south to the north. It's one of the oldest shortcuts of Iceland. It might come out handy in case of a lazy day and never too far away from the trail to bum a ride.
The Way Of The Minky
