#teachingofjesusoftheday: Matthew 5:10 "Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." This is a verse that is hard to fathom if you haven't been persecuted. Can you imagine being hunted down, spit at, murdered and have all other kinds of atrocities happen to you and your loved ones just because of your faith Jesus? If we are to be honest, no. We haven't experience such persecution, so this scripture is nothing more than a theory. However, there will come a time, which I believe will happen soon, when the prophesied anti-Christ will arise and hunt down all true believers in Jesus. It will be the greatest tribulation that ever occurred in all of human history. Some believe that they won't go through this time of tribulation, rather they would be raptured before-hand. However, this is not scriptural. Jesus makes it clear that immediately after the tribulation of those days will we see the sign of the son of man coming in the sky to gather his elect (Matthew 24). So all of us WILL be here to go through this tribulation. That is why it is important to meditate on scriptures like this. Jesus is trying to encourage and remind us that persecution equals God's blessing. Because we love God so much, we are being hunted down and killed for our faith, instead of giving in to the wicked present system. This is more than getting up for Sunday church meetings and Wednesay Bible studies. This is talking about having faith strong enough to literally DIE for it. The same faith that all people suffer when they speak and practice truth in a world or society that has rejected it. Will you stand and die for your faith? Amen?
