Why Catherine D’Lish is The Internet’s Most Lusted After Loungewear Designer Right Now
You may have noticed burlesque star and costumiere Catherine D’Lish’s extravagant creations popping up left, right and centre recently and so you should. I’ve been a fan of D’Lish’s work since when, as a sixteen year old girl, I would google opulent Burlesque costumes (a habit perhaps born of my dance and theatre background) for sheer life inspiration, just to know such beautiful and magical things existed and to inspire action towards a life and level of glamour I would one day hope to achieve as a woman.
They may have been bejewelled couture corsets and bras back then, made for D’Lish and fellow burlesque star Dita Von Teese’s acts, but what has been striking my- and everyone else’s- interest lately are D’Lish’s boudoir robes. They’ve gone viral on Tumblr and Instagram with a plethora of women of all ages expressing utmost desire to own one, they’ve even inspired a meme.
D’Lish’s gowns have also been recently picked up by my personal favorite fashion tome, Vogue Italia, so keep an eye out for them there, no doubt photographed to maximum potential by one of the magazines famous photographers. The floor-sweeping creations in sheer tulle and silk are trimmed with feathers, ruffles and involve a serious amount of fabric. They are dripping with drama, romance and sex appeal and to be completely honest, I have threatened my husband with divorce if he doesn’t agree to budgeting one into our life at some point over the next 6 months. He’s been warned.
