"It’s funny. You think you’re supposed to just know how to run. That it’s not supposed to be something you learn. But for me, it was. Learning about pacing, learning about breathing techniques – it was all part of it. When I started, I alternated running one minute, and then walking one minute. I worked my way up to two minutes running, one minute walking. Then a quarter mile, then a half a mile, etc. I took little notes every time I ran about the things that made me proud that day. Everything from breaking personal records to just getting out there in the cold after a long day.
